  1. Hey guys thanks for all the responses! It gave me more than enough info to finish the paper, so I don't need anymore responses. It was exciting getting all of the responses. You guys really pulled through for me and I appreciate it!
  2. Just to see if enthusiasts knew each other well. I find it funny how everyone knows what top top few coasters SHOULD be.
  3. Wow I officially love TPR. I leave for a few hours and come back with enough to write a book! Getting answers from a big variety of people too. Freakin sweet! Thanks for your time guys!
  4. I am doing a paper in one of my classes on roller coaster enthusiasts and I was hoping Theme Park Review could pull through and help me with this project by filling out this questionnaire. I will use the responses at quotes in my paper to help fulfill the research needed. So if you could copy and paste the below questions and respond to them that would be great! I would really appreciate you time. Please answer the questions as complete as possible. Once again thank you very much for your help! _____________________________________________________________ Name: Age: What is your roller coaster count? What is your home park? What is the nearest big city? What is your occupation? About how many times a year do you visit a park (including your home park)? About how many times a year do you travel to a park that is not your home park? When you travel do you go primarily to amusement parks or do you also try and hit other sites? What is the farthest you’ve traveled to go to an amusement park? Does roller coaster time get in the way of family time? (Do you choose to miss your children’s or family’s sporting events, holidays, birthdays, etc…) Do you have any other major hobbies? Do you get feelings of sadness in the offseason? Do you even have an offseason? Do you travel during the offseason? Do you consider yourself friends with someone you met who works at an amusement park? (Or reverse it, if you work or worked and an amusement park have you made friends with enthusiasts?) Would it bother you to go to an amusement park by yourself? Have you gone to an amusement park by yourself? If so have you ever ran into another enthusiast and tagged along with them? Do you find it easy to make friends with other enthusiasts? How do you get your coaster news? How many different forum sites do you regularly post on? If there was a poll that asked a large pool of enthusiasts what their favorite roller coaster is, what do you think would be the top 3 responses be for wood? And for steel? Same scenario but for amusement parks, what would be the top 3? Have you ever “stole a kid” to get a credit on a kiddie coaster? Do you cut other categories out of your budget to make trips to parks? (Entertainment, fast food, holidays, tobacco or alcohol, etc…) Before you visit a new park do you research the park finding the best way to navigate the park, get the best deals, or what days to go? Do you feel the roller coaster enthusiast community is a warm and accepting community, or a negative and discouraging community? Do you like to talk about your hobby with people who are not roller coaster enthusiasts?
  5. That screaming match is awesome! Got to love a lively crew!!!
  6. They all are concentrating on the ride very hard. Not even water being dumped on them made them flinch. That takes a real man!
  7. Some of the older Intamin coasters have similar looking track to B&M. That ride is indeed an Intamin!
  8. Missouri Kansas Oklahoma Texas Iowa Nebraska Illinois Indiana Ohio Kentucky Tennessee Georgia Florida Puerto Rico* US Virgin Islands*
  9. The only thing missing are OTSR's... Would make this ride perfect! But this ride looks super awesome and is a ride this park really needs! Go Cedar Fair!
  10. Ok apparently I'm the only one saying this but this looks really awesome, and I'm super excited to get a ride on this thing! I think this ride is going to perform!
  11. My trip on June 29th was a pretty good one! We got to the park about 5 minutes early. It was about 10 minutes later than I wanted but it turned out to be ok. We decided that we were not going to get a flash pass for the 6 of us since looking at the crowds it didn't seem necessary. We waited about 10-15 minutes for Superman once the ride opened about 5 minutes late. I took monsterfan99's advise and hit Ragin' Cajun and Vertical Velocity early and that worked out really nice. Then we moved through the park pretty quickly with waits not being too long on Batman or Iron Wolf. We hit a little bit of a wait on American Eagle and we only rode one side. It was then about 1:00 and we ate lunch. After this time the lines got pretty hefty but it wasn't too bad considering we only had 5 more rides to hit including Dark Knight that we skipped over at the beginning of the day. Viper was about 30-45 minutes but was worth the wait. Raging Bull was worth the wait but neared an hour so we had no re-rides. Demon had about a 30 minute wait which wasn't worth it but we had the time. Whizzer was at about 20. It was close to 5:00 so we had time for a 45 minute wait for Dark Knight. I can't decide if I should have hit this earlier or not but it worked out. We hit the log flume and were done with the park around 7:00. So for my experience I am glad I did not get a flash pass because we got through the day fine. But if it were much more of a crowd it would have been nice. My group was tired by the end of the day even though I would have liked to re-ride Raging Bull, Viper, and Superman. Now keep in mind that we got through the day at 7 without riding really any flats. If you are going with a smaller group it might be worth buying the flash pass depending on the day you will be going. Like I said it would be helpful for re-rides and getting through the day quicker. But if you ride Ragin Cajun hit it early! That thing is not worth waiting in line for! Hitting it second after Superman may be the way to go. Vertical Velocity also for some reason didn't seem to have too bad of a wait when I was there but might as well hit it early while you are there. Well I've ran out of stuff to talk about. When will you be going?
  12. Yeah there is no way I would be able to afford the Gold Pass for six people! But thank you for the advice on what to hit early. Keep in touch on the crowds if you remember! Hope it's not too crowded due to it being the Monday before the 4th...
  13. I am going to visit Six Flags Great America on June 29th which is a Monday. I am wondering if I should purchase a Flash Pass for the six of us. This will cost $87 if I purchase them online. I am wondering if any regulars know how the crowds are on a day like this and if a Flash Pass would be necessary? I'm not sure about the prices for them at the park but the website says they are a bit more. Does anyone know how much "a bit" is? Is this something I should decide when we arrive? The group I am going with tends to "burn out" sometimes at amusement parks so it would be nice to have some information because I am a bit up in the air on what I should do. Thank you for the help!
