theyd
So is this a true coaster? It looks like it will have a total height of 0 feet, no loops, no hills, no drops, no huge overbank turns, I mean it kinda just looks like Test Track on steroids. coasterlover420
This sounds like what Stan Checketts tried to do with Dodonpa. "I just wanna go over 100 MPH!" Now he wants a world record, apparently... It would be nice if they did something new, like actually make the ride longer than a minute. That would be nice, but somehow I doubt it... hansrubens
Well they don't build just a new coaster. They are building a whole new mediacenter with all kind of attractions and yes also a coaster. On the official nuerburgring site you can find a video impression of the new area. Nuerburgring 2009 site Nuerburgring update week 31.
Team Thriller
Coaster opens June 11. I'm going to try and be there since it's not so far away from where I live. This is going to be awesome. --James "It's about freakin time" Flint
haux
Is there any solid evidence of a layout of this thing? Will it really have no hills and just be like the Thrust Air prototype without the hill? Because that's kinda lame.
Team Thriller
^ I'll go check it out sometime, but I think it won't have any hills. But hell, with a launch that fast, that thrilling, and that brain splattering, who needs hills. --James Flint
matteocrepaldi
On Screamscape I found this: (5/2108) While I don’t have any details just yet, I’ve heard through the grapevine that the recording breaking S&S / SAT-Rides launched “Race Coaster” project on the way to Germany’s Nurburgring race track may have been redesigned that the remainder of the ride after the high speed lauch will have more coaster style elements and be a lot more fun. Team Thriller
^ Thank god. But aren't turns a standard coaster elements? Hope they aren't being ironic, and are being real. --James
Gutterflower
Hey all I come bearing gifts... mainly pictures of the track scroll down and you will see some pics on this page http://onride.de/viewtopic.php?t=28726&start=475&u-1 very square track New S&S track by the looks of it but unfortunately the track through the building looks fairly flat as expected

Jew
It obviously doesn't make sense to have a ride that provides the same sensations/motions as racing would at an attraction based at a race track. They totally should have built a launched wooden coaster instead.
Xaninx
Masterplan, the purple / pinkish looking line is the coaster's track: www.nuerburgring.de/fileadmin/2008/Nuerburgring_2009/neu/Masterplan_mit_Legende_OG.jpg It looks a bit blocky, but it seems it goes right through a building, which is awesome if it is at high speeds. An Intamin accelerator coaster (or a "rocket coaster" as you put in all caps) includes coasters such as Rita and Kingda Ka. Making such a blanket statement about Intamin accelerators doesn't really fit the discussion, and having an attitude about it certainly isn't going to get you anywhere. I wish we could see a detailed rendering of the coaster, then it might be more appropriate to compare it to other rides...
texcoaster
Masterplan, the purple / pinkish looking line is the coaster's track:www.nuerburgring.de/fileadmin/2008/Nuerburgring_2009/neu/Masterplan_mit_Legende_OG.jpg It looks a bit blocky, but it seems it goes right through a building, which is awesome if it is at high speeds. After zooming the pic, it appears that even though the track lines go "through" the building, nothing inside the building appears to be situated around the track. There are theater seats with track right across them, as well as part of a restaurant where the track goes right across the tables. Clearly, the track is either under the building, or on stilts high above the other stuff. My best guess would be that the track goes under the building. I did notice some sort of tracked attraction in the building, though, in the upper center of the building. Could be a Convoy or something like that. There also appears to be a 360deg theater just to the left of the tracked attraction.

Gutterflower
http://onride.de/viewtopic.php?t=28726&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=475&u-1 if you look at the pictures posted by crazyx you can see the track someway above the floor. so i imagine the ride will be coasting slowly or under power on stilts through this section of the building Edit: Fixed the link.
