thedlr Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Here is a quick video of the coaster going over the lift and 2nd hill. You can see the coaster is moving fine over the hills with a train of people. Wait until close to the end and you can see the coaster in the bottom of the screen on its way back to the station before going into the quadruple-down. I think the countdown is on..... The surroundings do look so much better with all the foliage.
kickflipbacktail Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 My issue with the #itllneveropen is the fact that I have almost stopped coming to the Dollywood thread.. Everytime I log in I see 4 or 5 pages of hashtags that I personally don't find funny.. The real info and answers that people come here seeking are hidden between all this.. But hey for those having fun with it (which is only a handful of people, same people keep posting them over and over) have fun! Looks like it will only be a few more days hopefully and will be open soon! Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk It's funny here and there, but theres literally 2 pages straight of nothing but #itllneveropen so its sorta worn itself dry on me.
Ed Farmer Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 It's funny here and there, but theres literally 2 pages straight of nothing but #itllneveropen so its sorta worn itself dry on me. It was harmless until everyone felt the need to get in on the action.
nicman Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Were all just too excited. We have nothing to talk about.
WildEagle2014 Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 I want to think the coaster will open soon, but last night while leaving the park, the trains were taken off the track again and are now sitting in the parking area at the bottom of the station.
RyanTPM Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 ^Not sure what's happening there with that train but the video that VF15 posted above you certainly shows it's testing today
dabrian Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Why would you take the trains off the track at night?
djcoastermark Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 ^ to let them get a good nights sleep before the next days grueling workout.
VF15 Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 RMC employees on the lift hill about 10 minutes ago. Not sure if that's good or bad.
WildEagle2014 Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 ^Not sure what's happening there with that train but the video that VF15 posted above you certainly shows it's testing today The coaster has 2 trains. From the number of sections sitting on the ground, it appears to only be 1 train off the track broken up. Not sure why they took the one train off last night, but one is off and sitting on the ground.
chickenbowl Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Quick question, I remember hearing that DW had the option of a free visit the night before, with a purchase of a 1-day ticket. Is this policy still existent? I can't find it online. If so, can somebody explain how it works?
VF15 Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Quick question, I remember hearing that DW had the option of a free visit the night before, with a purchase of a 1-day ticket. Is this policy still existent? I can't find it online. If so, can somebody explain how it works? Yes, I did that yesterday. Since I bought my ticket after 3 pm yesterday, I got to come back today for free. As for Lightning Rod, last time I walked by, someone asked some workers near the ride "Will it open today?" The response was "We don't know". Doesn't look good, but at least it wasn't a definitive "no".
SFOGdude25 Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 I think it's that if you purchase a ticket/enter the park after like 3 or 4 pm you get the next day free or something like that. Not sure if that's right, but I know Dollywood still has this deal.
VF15 Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Just saw some general public riders on Lightning Rod! This is what the sign in front looks like now.

shadox17 Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] Do you know if this is GP or employees?
Henry M Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 I wander if the riders begged to be a test rider, or if Dollywood begged for test riders. either way #itllneverhappen
MonorailORANGE Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Just got off! Was on the first tech rehearsal train out! The ride is stunning! Me and mi madre!
dstephe9 Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Hopefully it'll soft open sometime this week and if so I'll make an evening trip there Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
Swede Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 They changed their homepage. Looks like we just had a soft opening today. #ItOpenedInYourFaceNaysayers
