  1. This exactly. Why do you think Dollywood has so many crafty type shops? Home goods type shops? The older crowd spends tons of money on this stuff. Just watch the package pick-up guy pushing everything to the front.
  2. Oh today was slammed! Very busy day, again, I believe it's just bc they are up to fill capacity on everything again!
  3. Yeah it has a slow cycle and they were running it now that it can be full capacity again! Slow cycle includes time to view the park.
  4. Honestly, I feel the survey was just a typo. I work for a company with three brands. Communications, surveys, what not sure always similar. Lots of copy/pasting.. Doesnt SDC have similar, if not the same, festivals?
  5. Naa, two trains don't help it much. It stacks like crazy
  6. They sure do and right now it's worth it because most rides have a fairly long wait. I'd hate to spend money on it for one ride
  7. It ran almost all day Wednesday when I was there
  8. Not only that but people also travel to the area for Spring Break from other locations. So not only locals, but most folks we ran into yesterday that my wife and I talked to were actually visiting from other states. Also lots of college students
  9. Dollywood seems to be filling most seats on all coasters. No skipping rows, at least today. Lines were pretty long most of the day Ops weren't bad today park was just packed it was reduced capacity though, but I don't believe as reduced as last year.
  10. It's open but almost a two hour wait right now. I'm here
  11. I wonder if any of the tree removals are due to invasive bugs that are killing trees all over the mountains and even that area. There are scenic roads closed due to these bugs and while it sucks, can cause the trees to be very dangerous fall or fallen limbs. It seems they are clearing them out around the rides, possible they are afraid they will fall?
  12. This by no way means the launch system failed. Someone described it as starting out fine and then felt like it slammed on the breaks. That sounds more like a failsafe sensor not letting it complete the launch. It's like one of the maintenance guys told me one time, this ride has no other place to "stop" so if it needs to fail, it will stop at the point of launch. I believe this gives the launch a bad rap
  13. You can also stop by NOC, in Gatlinburg. They can help you find a tour
  14. This is ONLY bc the original track is very similar to IBOX. RMC did the drop area several years ago, before LR. This will be nothing special
  15. Go ahead and make reservations now if you have season passes. Seems to be filling up
  16. That's the thing, on closing day, the track had not been installed yet. A few places had a little installed but by a whole, most had not been . While we have also had a calm winter so far, we have lots of snow in forecast for the next week or so, can slow progress.
  17. March and April are both good times to visit. Just keep in mind 1.) Pretty weekends in March and April are actually some of the busiest days of the year for the park. Before Covid, they had several record breaking days in years past. Talking , 30+ thousand. 2.) Schools visit a lot during this time. I'm sure that won't be very impactful right now 3.) Weather can swing quickly in March and April. Snow one day, extreme heat the next
  18. Glad I'm not the only person who thought trams were a cluster. My experience every trip was like that. Luckily, most of the time, until like October, Gold Pass got to park between B and handicap. During the Holidays, my wife and I actually drove around B lot or C lot until we found someone leaving from a spot that was walking distance. We actually walked to and from D&E one night Plus side, the parking lot walk in the evening is always nice. dark, not many people. It was always a nice walk my wife and I enjoyed
  19. Another thing to point out during covid-19 1.) Festivals were limited 2.) Live shows were limited even during Christmas when they started live shows back 3.) Unless it was a weekend, a lot of restaurants were closed and so were a lot of shops 4.) Smoky Mountain Christmas seemed scaled down, even with light's. If rides are your only reason for going, you should be happy. My wife and I visited probably 20+ times, not as much as normal but still a lot While a lot of below sounds like complaining, it was mostly a great season with great visits. I just wanted to note some of this Rides: On busy days, rides did back up due to lack of shows and other activities 1.) I actually saw them running double trains on rides such as TN Tornado more this year than I have previous years by a lot and wait times averaging 5 - 10 mins. (This ride is normally a walk on). Some visits they skipped seats, some they didn't Trams: operations here sucked. Skipped rows, long waits, rude drivers. Running the small trams vs longer trams Security Check: they changed this up a few times this year. During the final months I didn't like how they made you place your cell phone and keys on the table but made you walk through metal detectors with your backpack. They almost always make it go off and then holds up the line while they search it. Just search it while walking through. Cost Cutting: For those that visit Dollywood a lot, this got much worse later in the season. French Fries changed from home made chips or large potato wedges to simple frozen fries. Plastic forks were so cheap the broke constantly. Even homemade cookies at places changed to packaged. A lot of our favorite foods felt, looked like, and tasted like they became more processed and less homemade. I'll note this last one BUT please note, this was the final day of the season and it was NOT like this a few weekends before. Even the cinnamon bread that last day was almost like it was premade. None of that cinnamon goop in the bottom of the container they now serve in. Food prices did seem to go up, even with the cost cutting above. We always save our receipts curious how much money the gold pass saved us, and this was confirmed. Prices went up, some even changed mid season Overall though not many complaints as most of the season was great but not perfect
  20. The part that you can visibly see is some of the high stress area. They mentioned that high stress area is being replaced. That final curve into the station is one of the most intense parts of the ride. I personally don't believe all is being replaced no, but who knows Sent from my LE2117 using Tapatalk
  21. FYI: Those who renewed your season pass for next year that have the free mug, ask them to upgrade to the mug that includes free refills. They didn't offer it, but I asked, and they sold me the red mug, free refills all year this and next, for $15. It's normally $30! You might not have the same results as me, but I simply asked and they were like sure!
  22. If it's who I'm thinking of you are correct, he had mentioned several times the launch was working correctly and smoothly. However, it's very possible the launch as in the mechanism that performs the launch works great but the launch as a section of the coaster (including the track) was having issu e Sent from my LE2117 using Tapatalk
  23. I had actually posted and heard of this rumor about a month back. Won't surprise me. Rumor I heard was that it a hybrid track. Some wood and some ibox Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk
  24. I'm here today, track is still there Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk
