  1. I never got to ride that. It was always broken down every time I visited the park!
  2. I was there from opening - 3:30 this Sunday and until about 2 most coasters where a walk-on or less than 15 min wait. Around 3:00 the park was picking up steam with waits of 30+ mins on most coasters (Minus Cyclone & Scream Machine still walk-on) and a little longer on the big ones (Over an hour for Dare Devil Dive, 45 Minutes or so for Goliath and same for Superman). Remember, it was a very pretty weekend and this weekend was also the opening for the haunt. IMO I would say you will not need a flash pass for Sunday just catch the big ones early and if you can get there before 3 you will enjoy hardly any waits! This has always been my experience at SFOG When I travel to six flags I always use Sunday as my day to catch as many coasters as possible then leave when it gets crowded. I love late summer when the park opens before noon on Sunday! Last time, I rode Dare Devil Dive several times without even getting off! Lots and Lots of people in the area wait and come after church i guess because they are never busy until 2 or 3 on Sundays! I do not know what happened after 3:30 but the park, like I said, was picking up guest left and right when I left at that time. Line of people coming in
  3. I was at the park this weekend for fright fest and season pass holder day. I was there Friday, Saturday, and part of the day Sunday. (Due to the drive I always stay at the Motel 8 down the street haha so I spend the entire weekend usually) It looks like they have already started on what appears to possibly be the wave pool. On a side note, fright fest was great this year! If you can go, try and make a trip! I really like how instead of paying for each haunted house now, you just purchase a $20 wristband. Last time I attended fright fest it was like $10/house!!!! They had 4 paid houses this year plus the haunted train which is also paid so it was worth it imo. They where all like 5 or 10 minutes of fun! Park was very crowded both nights! Saturday I had to purchase a flash pass just to ride some of the coasters in the dark! Friday I was only able to get scorcher and scream machine because the lines where so long! Saturday I was able to get superman, Goliath, cyclone (Had no wait Sat, like an hr on Friday. go figure haha), Mind Bender and that was it for night rides Mind Bender and Goliath where the best in the dark. Mind Bender has almost 0 lights on it all together, Goliath was also pretty dark. The rest are very very lit up While I waited on my turn using the flash pass I hit up the haunted houses and trails!!! I recommend the flash pass if you want to hit up the haunted stuff and ride coasters in the dark. I found out Friday, that was the only way to do it so Saturday I got one. Normally I never buy flash pass Edit: one last tip for fright fest. Do the DR Fright haunted house during the day. It is all inside so no need to wait until dark. Line is shorter PLUS it frees up time to ride coasters at night. Also, Kill Island is lit at night (Skull Island Haunted Maze) so you can do it at dusk and not notice a difference.
  4. I am from Knoxville so I am far from Atlanta but this announcement really excites me! So far I have been to six flags more than Dollywood this year so an in park water park will be great and makes me look forward to coming next year. I have been to six flags 20 or 30 times, and WW only once. This announcement is great for people like me. I always stay in one of the hotels right beside six flags so that I can avoid traffic so this water park announcement will only extend my stays in atlanta Instead of one night now (My normal unless frightfest or something is going on) I will probably stay two nights. This way I can fit in both the park and water park. Maybe that is what six flags is going for. I know the original idea for six flags was to be a "local park" geared for locals, located right in your city. I am sure this water park will bring more outside guest and will cause them to stay longer. WW is just a major pain for a lot of us out of towners to get to with all that traffic
  5. When I was there this weekend, they hadn't started clearing land or anything in that area. But it being a flat area they maynot have to start clearing anything to have a coaster ready by next year. I really don't believe it will be a coaster though. I am leaning towards a water park expansion being so close to skull island and then a more modern "Show" or "Concert" area that takes up less space. I say this because like I mentioned earlier, they where looking for sponsors for the 2014 six flags celebration and I don't believe they have any other place to do shows that big in the park anywhere. Why look for sponsors if they can't have a concert? (Unless it was a generic announcment) I really enjoy skull island on a hot day and it is so crowded they could use a little bigger area. Not a full size water park by any means, just more slides or a lazy river or something.
  6. Thanks for the info! One tacit I always use is to go right when I come into the park when it opens. It seems everyone goes left to grab DDD, batman area, goliath and Scorcher. I always go right, like heading to cyclone, and go straight to superman and sky screamer. I did that saturday and it was able to hit skyscreamer, superman, and scream machine all walk-ons. After that I went back towards the frot of the park and 60 min wait on mind bender (Turned out someone got sick which caused the long wait), 1hr and a half on cyclone (Even though the sign said 30 mins!). Pretty much the rest of the day was just walking around. By this time, superman also had 60 + min waits. Thats when I gave up, grabbed food, bought a hoodie bc it was rainy and cold, and then went to southern star where the concert gates opened at 3
  7. I went to SFOG this weekend and had a great time! Yesterday I attended the sixflagscelebration and it was a great concert and the whole day was a lot of fun. The crowds where very high for the amount of rain throughout the day. Most coasters where 60mins+ on the waits.. From 10 am - 3 pm I was only able to ride about 5 rides.. Gave up and headed to the southern star. Since the concert lasted until after 10 I had got a room for the night. Decided to take a stab at the park again this morning. Great decision. EVERY ride was a walk-on and the ride OPS let us ride several times in a row if we wanted, without getting back in line (Just moved to another seat if someone was in my line). I was so tired at 2 o'clock I called it a day and drove back to Knoxville.. The park was picking up momentum when I left at 2 but rides where still walk-ons I was able to ride daredevil dive 3 times non-stop, superman 5 times non-stop, cyclone 3 times, thunder river 2 times (Got a bloody finger on this one! Dunno how), and all the others. By 2 I had rode every coaster in the park multiple times. GREAT DAY! Dare Devil Dive was still a walk-on by 2 which was very odd as for the the southern star area, this is just a stab in the dark, but what if six flags is building a NEW theater area? DONT SHOOT ME YET! The reason I mention this is because they where looking for sponsors for next years six flag celebration during the concert. Does six flags over GA have another area they could even do a concert that big? By the headline show the crowd was over 1,000 People probably a lot more. On a side note, I know the company that put on six flags celebration did it at one other six flags this year so it may have just been a generic announcement and not intended for Six Flags over GA.. I just thought it was worth mentioning
  8. Didn't know that Saturday is going to be the final event at their theater. I am actually planning on making the trip to Atlanta this weekend for the six flags celebration. It will be my second trip to six flags GA this year
  9. I'm also planning a trip to cedar point this summer. Staying at the resort. I don't plan on buying a fast pass. Would you all suggest buying a starlight ticket the night before to get more time in the park and be able to ride almost all rides? Or is a fast pass the only option to ride all rides? Date of trip is currently undecided. It will be a weekday in July or August. Probably arrive Monday and leave Thursday but only only one day in the park plus possible starlight. Which day would everyone suggest? I am thinking Wednesday (starlight Tuesday night) The rest of the time I just plan to relax.
  10. I was on Thunderhead at Dollywood and the cart stopped on the lift hill.. After about five mins a ride OP said "we are waiting on the train to pass". He, of course, was talking about the Dollywood steam train. After another 5 mins I knew he was just making things up bc i have been to dwood many times and thunderhead never stopped to let the steam train pass.. 20 mins total went by and the cart finally starting going up the lift hill again
  11. Going to try and plan a trip to Six Flags this year to try out skyscreamer.. I haven't been in 2 years. I just have to decide if I want to get a Hotel or drive. 3 hours in the morning to the park isn't bad but the 3 hour drive back from a tiring day at six flags is a killer!!! I usually go to six flags mid week and it still gets pretty crowded. Last time, on a Wednesday, i had to even break down and get a flash pass mid-day. The hour long waits where a killer. But then again, that was mid-summer.
  12. 2-Georgia Cyclone @SFOG, all I remember of the ride is being expelled from my seat over and over, which is very fun, I could never even could focus on anything after I rode because I was so shaken up I Agree with this. I actually tipped over in my seat on this ride. U could never right myself after getting knocked over. I Also say son of a beast is very rough.
  13. I go to Atlanta for six flags every few years. Normally I eat the standard fast food for breakfast. But for lunch (or dinner depending on the time) always stop at "The Varsity" to eat during my trip to Atlanta. They have seven locations in GA but I normally stop downtown.. One of the best burger and fry joints you will ever eat! http://www.thevarsity.com Out of the other parks i frequent here are some suggestions Dollywood: Someone already mentioned the pancake places. You can't go wrong with any of them in pigeon forge or Gatlinburg. If you have kids, Gattis Pizza is great! They have a huge one on the parkway close to Tanger outlets. I know this is a chain, but its a smaller chain. Gattis is all you can eat and you can request almost any pizza you want. Smoky Mountain Brewery was also mentioned already but their sister restaurant Calhouns is also amazing if you want Ribs or BBQ. Also, if you are in Gatlingburg don't forget to stop at the Mayfields Dairy Bar! I know some of us locals take it for granted but it really is some of the best ice cream. The last one I would suggest is the The Peddlerin Gatlinburg. I have dined there several times. Kings Island: When I go to Kings Island I only eat fast food so if anyone knows anything good and local there I may try them.
  14. Six Flags over Georgia has the worst value for your buck on food! $10 for a crappy small hamburger and i counted 5 fries. I also dislike their system of creating artificially long lines. If a ride becomes a "Walk-On" they run it twice before reloading the ride (They did however take the time to let people off between rides but wouldn't load). Yes this maybe fun for the people on it but they continue this until it has about a 45 min wait. Last time I went, it was a cloudy weekday. They did this for Goliath and didn't return it to normal until the line had a 45 min wait. They also did this fo Ninja and Batman. I would have enjoyed my day more if they didn't do this. The worse part was that they did allow for time to unload those that wanted to unload but would not allow to reload. I also dislike how every park I have been to only runs one train on coasters until the line picks up. Why not run all trains and keep the lines short! I know it probably has to do with money, wear and tear on the carts, and the illusion the park is busier but still. This is really just a pet peeve of mine and not a "horrible operation"
