Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

I agree Ninja isn't going anywhere. It still has some life left in it, regardless of whether we like it or not. After seeing how small the footprint is for the S&S Free Spin this weekend, it would nowhere near fill the gap Ninja would leave behind. Tidal Wave seems more fitting.

Emily and I are planning a trip to the on the Saturday after this coming Saturday. We're probably going to go in the late afternoon/early evening to drink a couple beers, ride a few rides, and have our passes processed. Does anyone have any predictions on how crowded the park will be?

^ SFOG and SFFT have both recently added a Tilt-A-Whirl

SFFT added a Larson Super Loop, Zamperla Disk'o and a Tilt-a-Whirl. SFOG has a Larson Looper and a Tilt-a-Whirl, but no Disk'o. SFSTL has the Larson Looper and the Disk'o, but no Tilt-a-Whirl. Looks as if the handwriting is on the wall. SFOG will receive a Zamperla Disk'o next year, whilst SFSTL gets a Tilt-a-Whirl.

I'd rather have Hair Gel Advertisement, The Ride. Pick your dew: Idiotic douche spiked vertically, or idiotic douche spiked out to the side.

Looking forward to our first warm season visit to the park in years next Saturday. Any input on how the evening crowds will be?

With the amount of space a Free Spin requires, it could fit into Freeze Island with no problem. That would actually be really cool!

I like that idea... plenty of room and it would look pretty darn cool

When I heard about the Mardi Gras stuff coming a few eeks ago, I thought, "Sh!t, now I have to go back on TPR and say how I put my foot in my mouth".... never thought they'd do it... but to be fair, they are 4 to 5 months late with it, I truthfully don't get it, especially during the time of year they are holding it, right around the 4th of July.... IMO, sooo stuuupid

Does anyone think it is a possibility that SFStL's Ninja could get the "do-over" treatment like SFoG's? The work they did on that made the coaster an actual enjoyable experience. Still a Vekoma Looper, but it went from downright terrible to a pretty decent ride.

I think the layout, location, and total package of Ninja at SFoG is greatly superior to what our Ninja has to offer. I personally think it would be a waste of money to do the conversion. I say just let it be as it is, until SF is ready to retire the ride.

I agree with Prozach. Although, I think the GP would be just fine with our Ninja getting the refurb, it would literally be putting lipstick on a pig.

The Mardi Gras thing is kind of odd, but I'm looking forward to the Hurricanes and Southern Comfort sweet tea. Bring on the cajun booze!

I think it depends how long they intend on keeping the ride. If it's <5 years it'd be a waste of money, but if they plan on keeping it for a while a little TLC cant hurt anyone. At least not as much as the current OSTRs do...

In my opinion, TLC is different from a complete overhaul and new trains. If it's TLC you're looking for, paint the ride/trains, freshen up the queue, give it a new sign, and make it look as good as the ride can for as little money as possible. Keep the VR, if you must. It would be pretty costly to remove, which makes me think that when it does finally get removed, it will be replaced with something modern and new. Hence another reason why I don't think it's going anywhere, anytime soon. I'm curious where the old trains for SFOG's Ninja are and if we're going to cannibalize them for spare parts.

Asking again... any ideas on how the crowds will be the Saturday after this coming Saturday? Is anyone else going to be at the park?

I'd agree. Let the Ninja just be until it's time to replace it with something.

As for the park being crowded, the day you speak is Memorial Weekend Saturday, plus the grand opening on Spinsanity, so it will be pretty busy assuming the weather is ok.

If I read you correctly you mean the 20th (the 27th will be Memorial Day weekend, so yes probably crowded) Schools will still be in around here, and my experience has been that May weekends are usually pretty crowded until school is out, but not insane.

Thanks, guys. We're talking about the 20th. I guess it won't be as bad as the following weekend. We'll probably grab a really really early dinner/late lunch and head to the park after that. As long as we can process our passes and grab a small handful of rides, the crowds won't bother us too much. We're probably more interested in grabbing a beer and taking in the atmosphere, anyway.

Given Six Flags' past, they probably have the old SFOG Ninja trains somewhere and they are using them for parts. I mean they still use parts from Mega Zeph's and Twisted Twins' trains on the Boss' trains.
