HARLEYGUYJB
I had a question maybe someone could answer - I saw that they added a option to dine in a buffet in the worlds fair grove with the dining pass this year - is This new? I think it is, I can't remember seeing it before. If so How does this work? Can someone advise or describe the plan behind it.. if well stocked and kept full during meal hours this could go a long way to relieving the lines in some areas of the park for dinners... anyone ? Kevin I had the buffet on Sunday. It was available from 11:30-3:30. So I used my dining pass and ate there. It was nice actually. They had pulled pork, beef hot dogs, chicken strips. beans, chips, and salad. The food was pretty hot and fresh.. If you leave this buffet hungry, it's your own fault. Not sure how often the menu changes. If you are wanting pork, be sure to ask if they are serving it that day. Several signs promoting the buffet did not have pulled pork listed, but they were serving it that day. Also you definitely wait less in line... Also you definitely wait less in line... thanks for the info - I am not a super picky eater and this will be a great option to just get in, eat and get back to the park. Not to beat a dead horse on the food lines issue, but even a little planning would go a long way to alleviate some of the congestion. example a place like the colonnades that has a fairly limited menu. ( mostly just burgers and strips) I don't' know why they just don't make 50-100 hamburgers or 25 or so orders of strips starting about 1/2 hour before the meal plans start. They have a pretty good hold time and you know you will need at least that many during the rush. I guess I am mostly curious about the procedures. Anyway the new area is a welcome addition Kevin

A little useless fact about Batman's opening day... Work was a tad behind and construction crews and maintenance crews worked around the clock the last 24 hours before it opened.... The asphalt in the area was poured and steamrolled just hours before the park opened

Hell yea....Six Flags StL used to be amazing! Back when theming was a thing and they'd invest in coasters I also miss that voice giving directions. That queue was one of my favorite as a kid! tanthonyam
Here are some pics of my trip on Sunday May 7, 2017. I thought it was a nice park with enough to do for a day. It just needs that one big star attraction. I enjoyed all 3 of the woodies and the steel coasters they have. The que for Mr Freeze is much nicer than the one in TX. The que for The Boss and Batman were so freaking long! I felt like I was taking a mile hike to get to them. I can't imagine waiting in them if they were full. The weather was great and crowds were mild. I had just missed the terrible weather they had the week prior. Here are the pics... Taken from across the street at the travel plaza/gas station. Entrance plaza Loved this! Some of Xcalibur's gondolas need rufurbishing. I didn't do Ninja, dispatches were too slow. I love these. Much nicer area than the TX version I really enjoyed this one. Never opened. This one too. Closed. Mediocre log flume. Not worth it , unless a walk-on yes I like this ride.... Entrance plaza

thisdougsforu
Great pictures. Yeah, the one star attraction thing is why many of us whine for it. The work put into the park in recent years has really brought it back. Just needs one thing to really put it over the edge.

TrippinBillie
It just needs that one big star attraction Hopefully someday.... Hate to be a downer.....but it better be QUICK! The $22+ Million investment with Mack's new coaster in Silver Dollar City will suck all the St Louis market away! You've got a way better park in each direction 3+ hours away from St Louis: Silver Dollar City, Worlds of Fun KC and Holiday World. All of which are making significant capital purchases to improve their park and keep people engaged with coming back! I'm not wasting money on SFStL next year and will be doing both HW and SDC instead, sorry to say. And SFStL is 25 mins away...

You've got a way better park in each direction 3+ hours away from St Louis: Silver Dollar City, Worlds of Fun KC and Holiday World Six Flags is 35 minutes from downtown St. Louis and has a cheaper price point than any of those parks (especially since the majority of Six Flags guests have an absurdly cheap season pass or membership). You could easily make a case that their thrill rides are better than Worlds of Fun and Holiday World (this one depends on preference but is mostly an irrelevant point anyway) and unlike Silver Dollar City they have a water park included with admission. A Mack spinning coaster or whatever SDC is building isn't going to suck the market away from Six Flags. The park is 4 hours away, most people wouldn't consider that a day trip which means it comes with the additional cost of a hotel room. Silver Dollar City is 4 hours away, Worlds of Fun is 3 hours and 45 minutes away, Holiday World is 3 hours away. None of those parks are competing with Six Flags St. Louis for the St. Louis market. They have the market cornered and they know it.

WoF is "way better" than SFStL? dubious. I much prefer WoF and OoF better than SFStL. Not to mention power and light and a safer/better downtown....with a football team

They have the market cornered and they know it. 1: It's not just a "Mack Spinny Coaster". It's a significant and biggest investment in SDC history. I promise they aren't gonna throw a Cobra Curse V2 in that plot of land....especially with the amount of footers visible to the eye. Yes, a world class coaster like a Helix V2 would draw people away. 2: Depending on where you live in the STL Metro area, it's 3+ hours; like I said. 3: They most certainly ARE competing with the STL market. Hence advertising in the STL area....advertising that is NOT SFStL. Many of my friends and family have/will visit the other 3 parks mentioned before SFStL. SFStL is and has become very stale. There isn't anything grabbing people to return; that's just a fact. Local(ish) parks are running laps around them and making real investments. coasterbill
2: Depending on where you live in the STL Metro area, it's 3+ hours; like I said. Okay, that's still not a day trip for most people. Also, this applies generally to people west of downtown St. Louis which would make them even closer to Six Flags St. Louis. In many cases they would have to pass the park to get to Silver Dollar City and then keep driving for 3 1/2 more hours. Yes, a world class coaster like a Helix V2 would draw people away. What if they build an insane RMC that ends with back to back barrel rolls (a first of it's kind for a wood coaster) that's regarded by basically everyone as one of the greatest coasters on earth? What? They did that already? And Six Flags St. Louis is doing fine because they're in a much better location and over 3 1/2 hours away? Oh, imagine that. They most certainly ARE competing with the STL market. They should try to draw from that market since they're located in the middle of nowhere. They're located a few hours from a bunch of major cities and rely on people traveling to visit them, getting a hotel room and spending a decent amount of time in Branson. Six Flags is a much cheaper option and is an easy day trip from Downtown St. Louis. Sure, some people will make the trip to Branson but Six Flags St. Louis is doing just fine and I assure you that they're not threatened by Silver Dollar City. If they thought they needed to dump a ton of money into their park to remain competitive then they would be doing that, instead they have the market completely cornered and see no reason to do so. It's working well for them.
