FolsomFan
I went on Wonder Woman for the first time on Saturday and really enjoyed it. I actually thought it would spin more but really liked the height. It was a very quick trip into the park for us as we were just getting our seasons passes and going on Wonder Woman. It was Key Club Day there were a lot of very spirited and well behaved teenagers. We got there when the park opened so we basically walked onto Wonder Woman while most other people went to Joker. Fire2box
I also went on Saturday (key club day), apprently the park was already well opened before the 12pm time due to key club being there. Anyways the only things of note other then abnormally long lines was. 1. the arctic wolf Tala died earlier that week from pancreatic cancer. The Gray wolf was in the pen still. 2. Macho Nacho is closed https://imgur.com/NTGpD41 the resturant still had 20oz soda bottles stocked in a fridge behind the counter. No idea why it's closed or if it'll be permanent. The sandwich place also on the dinning pass was closed though with no sign on it. 3. that weekend and this weekend is dining pass picnics lunch out where they normally have catering. i went to it and there was virtually no one there when I went to eat which was maybe 1pm or around there. Around 35 other dining pass users. the food was just mainly burger's and chicken strips with fries they had some sort of side salad IIRC. The batch of chicken and fries I got was room temperature cold so I got it exchanged for a more fresh batch but even it wasn't nearly as hot as you can get from the chicken place across the bumper cars and original wave swings. However I'm pretty sure you can eat as much as you want there, there were only 2 workers and all they did was keep stocking food into the buffet. Out in the picnic area and the drink fountains it was just guests, never saw a worker watching over the area.
thrillseeker4552
I'm thinking of heading to the park (for the first time) sometime between Christmas and New Years, maybe the 28th or 29th. Would one full day at the park be enough to hit everything, or will lines be insane due to the holidays? I know Magic Mountain gets absolutely slammed during this week and was wondering if SFDK gets just as crowded or not. Thanks in advance!

I know Magic Mountain gets absolutely slammed during this week and was wondering if SFDK gets just as crowded or not. Thanks in advance! The week between Christmas and New Year is a busy time. I usually don't go then. However, I went on the day of Christmas eve last year (12/24), and it was positively deserted. So, if you don't have to be anywhere on the 24th, give it some consideration. Still, even if it's crowded, it doesn't get SFMM/CP length lines. Waits for their most popular rides (like The Joker) likely won't grow beyond 45-60 minutes. You should still be able to do everything during a full day. Again, I don't go during that time (that's because I'm spoiled, I prefer my walk-on days), so someone else who does have experience going during the time frame that you mentioned might want to weigh in. jray21
Yeah, that time between Christmas and New Years gets pretty busy. All those people stuck at family functions go insane and go to the parks to get away.
CrazedZooChimp
SFDK and Skyline Attractions showed off the lead car for Harley Quinn this morning. Not bad, hopefully the OTS restraints aren't too unpleasant (they don't look awful). Related, if any of you are interested I wrote a piece on the history of Skyline and they're development of the Skywarp for Coaster101 last week (hoping it's OK to share this since it is relevant). I'm cautiously optimistic that this'll be a pretty fun ride (way better than a Larson loop): https://www.coaster101.com/2017/11/08/how-skyline-attractions-developed-skywarp/
boldikus
Oh sh*t! You guys are getting a coaster!!! https://rcdb.com/15674.htm Skyline Attractions was like "we see your are-they-coasters-or-flat-rides debate and we "

Canobie Coaster
I love how they call it a launch too. I think it's more likely now that Michigan's Adventure will get a new coaster now. And Dorney. It's weird having this officially count as a coaster, but coaster or non-coaster, they look like fun rides. This is the second best entry I saw on RCDB today. Number one goes to Wallis's Wonderful Wriggling Wirral Wacky Worm because that name combined with the "fact" that the coaster was "said to be looking like brand new on 2/29/2004." chickenbowl
Welp, that's good enough for me. I was waiting to judge "coaster-ness" it until I could ride, or at least see videos of it "coasting." I trust the designers when they say it coasts though. And there's still much more questionable credits out there.
coasterbill
I was waiting to judge "coaster-ness" it until I could ride Same. I always wait to ride things before judging their coasterness. That's why I could El Diablo Loop Coaster as 11 credits. It's has 11 times more coasterness than a standard coaster. Pipe Scream ranges from 6 to 7 times more coasterness than a standard coaster so I round up to 7, divide and carry the four.
Canobie Coaster
I hadn't thought to watch the POV until now. I imagined the ride operating like the Larson loops with a conveyor belt type platform running the length of the track. After watching the POV, this looks more like a coaster. The tires are only in the station area and are like any tire driven launch. Then there doesn't appear to be anything on the rest of the track. Though if the two trains are independent of each other, what happens if one side were to rollback and the other didn't? I'm sure it was thought of, but I can't see how if the tires are only in the station area.
boldikus
^ The trains are connected aren't they? Looks like they'll be tire propelled just like the old Schwarzkopf Katapult coasters. https://rcdb.com/8237.htm

Can't wait for more!!!!!! 1) It's no longer a joke. It's real life. 2) It blows my mind that you insist on having a passive aggressive response to EVERYTHING. Relax, buddy. It's like you saw a thread where everyone was laughing about Skyline Attractions having some fun with the RCDB guys at IAPPA and insisted on showing up and sucking the life out of the thread by being passive aggressive for no reason. I don't get it. Nobody was trying to start anything, we're having fun because this is inherently funny which is probably the only reason Skyline Attractions posted it in the first place. I've never seen those Katapult coasters before but their design is similar to the Skywarp. I think that we are going to see a lot more of these Skywarps and the other models shown by Skyline at IAAPA. They are low cost coasters that can fit into small areas, so I think there will be a big market for them.

I don't get where you're getting a passive aggressive vibe from the first comment, I read it as something as simple as, "Well that settles it, I was going to wait and see myself to see how close it is to a coaster but now we know." Projection maybe?
coasterbill
I don't get where you're getting a passive aggressive vibe from the first comment I'm not. My comment back to him was said in a joking way because the word "coaster-ness" is funny. His initial post was totally reasonable. I'm responding to the second one, but now this topic is going way off the rails... jesus, how the hell did this even become a thing? wtf?

coasterbill
^ I have no idea what any of that means. now this topic is going way off the rails... Off the rails, as in no rails? If there are no rails it's not a coaster...........just sayin . If I'm going to be totally serious for a change I totally feel like I "get it". The 2 "trains" are connected so I guess it's really just one huge train (so huge that it would make Harley Quinn Crazy Train proud) but it still only seems to cover about half the track. It seems to work because each station has drive tires and at the "train" is so long that at some point it's always going to be contacting those drive tires in one station or another. So if I'm understanding correctly then really the "train" only covers about half of the track at a time so it sort of does move around the track more like a coaster would. I still feel like this is totally up to interpretation and I don't really care that much. But I guess I get it. Then again I legitimately DO get the argument for Pipe Scream too (or even something like Demon Drop) and in the end I don't really care either way what people decide. I get their argument. It seems reasonable enough to me (assuming I'm correctly understanding the mechanics of this thing). Though if the two trains are independent of each other, what happens if one side were to rollback and the other didn't? I'm sure it was thought of, but I can't see how if the tires are only in the station area. I think they're connected to eachother which is why they listed it as one train but I could be wrong. It's just a huge "train" and only the 2 extreme ends have seats or anything resembling an actual ride vehicle (I think). The conveyor belt type platform doesn't run the length of the track but it does run the length of the track between the two "trains" going one direction. thrillseeker4552
Like most others, I don’t really care if people choose to count this as a credit or not. But this is definitely WAY more of a coaster than the Super Loops, so I can see both sides.
