SoCalCoasters Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 ^ I do think Windseeker is going to offset that a bit, simply because a GP looks at it and Goes: "zomg that's so much more intense than -insert ride here- because its high". And frankly they are visually stunning.
RCFreak Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 ^I've heard mostly "meh" for Windseeker out this way since it opened, plus SFMM can advertise the bigger thrill ride (Lex Luthor in height and you know, actual thrills plus a lower height restriction) this year for the teens and young adults.
Gnome Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 ^ I do think Windseeker is going to offset that a bit, simply because a GP looks at it and Goes: "zomg that's so much more intense than -insert ride here- because its high". And frankly they are visually stunning. Id disagree with you. Especially because the generalize buzz for windseekers is that its just alright. Not bad but not amazing either. And as rcfreak said, there's gonna be other rides in socal that are just gonna be batshit crazy like transformers, carsland, and possibly manta filling in as batrayshit crazy. Then there's sfmm who already has a more impressive coaster line up then knotts, coupled with last years additions coupled with yet another addition. "The worlds tallest drop ride." What's more impressive? I tall spinning thing or the tallest drop in the world?
Bolliger&Mabillard Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 ^But Windseeker has an LED display. You guys are underestimating the power of lasers.
SoCalCoasters Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 ^^^&^^ Both are indeed valid points... I'm really looking forward to WCB at Knott's this year, mainly for the absolutely glorious Q&A Session that was my highlight last year. Plus I have so great questions.
Sir Clinksalot Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Shocker (from the parks FB page) Knott's Berry Farm Knott's is closed today due to rain. See you tomorrow, folks!
djw44 Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 They just put in Windseeker. You complain the park isn't getting anything new. Dorney technically hasn't gotten any thrill rides brand new since 2005. Random question, does Knotts do anything with Charlie Brown Christmas? I see a lot of potential with that.
COASTER FREAK 11 Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 (edited) I believe there are small references to it in Camp Snoopy this time of year, but they do not do anything on a large scale that is directly related to the film. Edited December 16, 2011 by COASTER FREAK 11
djw44 Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 That could be a gold mine if they did that. I can picture how great it would be.
coasterkyle Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 From Knott's Facebook "Sky Cabin is open! Come on down and enjoy the amazing view!" It's Open !
DefinitiveDetour Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Anyone go to the park this week monday-wednesday? I'm thinking about going tomorrow but was curious about crowds.

6flagsbrad Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 I got to ride sky cabin today! So glad to see it back up and running again. Joey from park management was there helping out cast members with operations. The interior has been cleaned up very nicely with fresh coats of paint and it is nice to finally be able to see out of the windows again.
6flagsbrad Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 ^ It got more crowded as the day continued, thought it really wasn't that bad. Longest lines were Xcelerator, Boomerang, and Ghostrider. Unfortunately Mine Ride and Montezooma were still closed, anyone know when those will reopen?
PAL Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 I didn't believe I'd see the day! Sky Cabin returned... There goes the theory that Windseeker's relocation was related to a possible Sky Cabin demolition to make way for a new attraction.
TopThrill182 Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 ^ Yeah, haha. I have to say that I'm sort of disappointed Sky Cabin reopened! I thought something was brewing for its location.
jakeryan9 Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Should be going to the park on Friday, maybe I'll snap a few pictures. Hopefully it isn't too crowded, but Im kind of expecting it. I don't know if this has been discussed before, but does anyone know why Riptide never has the fountains on so they actually get you wet? For the first few years, you used to get soaked, but now, they aren't even on all of the time. I get it during the "off season", but even during the hot summer days, I haven't seen them soaking the riders. I rode it ONCE while it used to soak you, but I was at the furthest seat to the right, facing Perilous Plunge, and the fountains didn't reach that far. It kinda made the ride more worth getting on, because it isnt a guy-friendly ride.
6flagsbrad Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 ^ I'm not sure why they never do that anymore. Yesterday my feet got wet from riding, which was a surprise. They don't even usually turn on that high.
DJeXeL Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Fountains were causing issues with the ride. Now they are for show only.
susie zueck Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 I remember that on Perilous Plunge bridge you would get soaked. Why did they stop you from getting soaked on Perilous Plunge bridge?
Top Thrill Dragster Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 ^ Because the new boats don't create a big enough splash to reach the bridge like the old boats did.
DJeXeL Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 The new boats caused this. 1st generation boats: Source 2nd generation boats: The scoops on the front of the boats look similar but for some reason the older boats produced a much larger splash.
Mechanic Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 What kind of crowds should I expect on the day after Christmas?
