Jds03 Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 You guys beat me to it, Superman the Escape and Hypersonic XLC. Hypersonic mostly for its obnoxious break run, but Superman for being louder than a mach 5 jet on that part before the tower.
netdvn Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 I remember on a family vacation to Vancouver, we stopped for 15 minutes at SFMM. Me and my dad walked to the front gate. Every time Flashback would run a train, it would emit an extremely loud roar, probably the loudest coaster roar I've ever heard. Unfortunately the entrance was the closest I ever got to the park. (This was pre-Superman, maybe 1993-1994-ish) HS:XLC's brakes were also annoyingly loud as well.
Lenaapple1974 Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 I haven't been to that many parks, but out of all the ones that I have been to, Chiller definitely stands out! I remember covering my ears as it would go by. My daughter thinks that the Hulk was pretty loud as well.
FeelTheFORCE Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 I'm curious to see how loud Diamondback's B&M roar is. It seems fairly loud from videos.
rydrmr9 Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 In my opinion I think that Hulk at IOA is pretty loud. you can easily hear it around the universal complex!
monsterfan99 Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 The boss on the straight away after the first drop and before the double down is awful. While not a coaster, the Fright Fest welcome machine/pumpkin head at SF Great America is way too loud. You can hear every word clearly from the McDonalds that is about 3/4 a mile away from the entrance to the parking lot (about a mile plus from the entrance and there are many things between the two.)
WildStangAlex Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 I must say, Iron Wolf, at Great America. It is the first B&M, so definitely not sanded. You can hear it anywhere in the back part of the park.
atem122 Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 X2's lifthill! Yes and no, one of the anti rollbacks is incredibly loud, and the other doesnt make a sound, it's weird
christianscoasters Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Superman: The Escape is the loudest coaster I've heard.
CHILLERLC1 Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 I agree with Superman: The Escape. CHILLER was pretty loud but not S:TE loud at SFGADV.
BJS1981 Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Superman: The Escape no doubt Batman: The Ride has a pretty great roar to it (which I love the roars on B&M Inverts)
sfmmrules! Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Yeah also Superman The Escape-it sounds like a rocket & the other V2 @ SFDK.
CP_RULES Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Patriot is another sanded ride and it is SILENT, Spinnging Dragons is louder than it! As far as loud rides go, Mr. Freeze is pretty loud. Mantis, B:TR, The Boss, and EK in the queue also come to mind.
rollerboy Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Colossus at Thorpe Park is annoyingly loud! Also Tower Of Terror at Dreamworld is pretty loud too.
jason10 Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 ^ I was just about to say the same thing. Colossus has to be the loudest coaster I have ever heard. You can hear it on the other side of the park. It has almost gotten to the point where I had to hold my ears as I went past it going through the loop. I mean, seriously, why? Also, this year, it seems to be screeching for some reason. I have never heard it do this. That too is pretty darn loud. Here's a video for those of you who don't know what I mean:
CreditCrazy Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Riddler's Revenge has a pretty loud roar, but Superman: The Escape kills it for being the loudest coaster.
FeelTheFORCE Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 I'm not saying your wrong because I have never heard it in person, but Colossus doesn't sound all that loud from that video, no louder than, say, Millennium Force, which is fairly loud when standing directly under it, yes, but only in that spot. Now coasters like Mantis (video), S:TE, Son of Beast's lift hill, and arguably TTD are fairly loud coasters.
rollerboy Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 ^ To be fair the video didn't do it justice. I was at the park on Saturday and seriously you don't wanna stand anywhere close to it! I recall running through the queue so we weren't right underneath it! It is pretty bad.
FeelTheFORCE Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Yeah, that screeching seemed fairly loud in the video, I know that would get annoying after a few cycles, lol.
Team Thriller Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Superman: The Escape. You can hear that thing from all around the park and it sounds like a sonic jet blasting over. --James
silvercrew1 Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 How could I have forgotten Son of Beast's lift hill! Holy cow that thing is ridiculous!
MG Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 I'm not saying your wrong because I have never heard it in person, but Colossus doesn't sound all that loud from that video, no louder than, say, Millennium Force, which is fairly loud when standing directly under it, yes, but only in that spot. Now coasters like Mantis (video), S:TE, Son of Beast's lift hill, and arguably TTD are fairly loud coasters. I can guarantee that it is much louder than that video showed. Ground-trembling loud. It isn't just a case of being next to it. It is anywhere in the park, or the car park for that matter! I do agree though that Superman the Escape is the loudest, though Colossus is a close second.
sixflagsguy5 Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Dejavu is really loud when it has a miscatch. I'll go with hypersonic for a normal ride.
Thelegendarymatthew Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Hypersonic, when it hit the top of the top hat, it always made a buzzing noise, and the brakes were loud. Volcano's Launch Anaconda's Lift Rebel Yell, just Rebel Yell and ig you count it the announcements for Xstream Sky Flyer. " 1 . 2 .3 FLY!!!!" -Matthew.K
