Kyle Coleman
Apocalypse when it goes through its station fly by is pretty dang loud. The roar on the hulk can be ear splittingly loud if you are waiting in line for it.
BkkMan13
Xcellerator has a pretty loud launch, especially if you're in the gift shop that's right next to the winch and hydraulic motors. I wonder how the cashier working in there deals with it...
donkeyman18
Great bear. S:EFK And Lightning racers chain.
coasterguy500
Mean Streak at Cedar Point screams when it turns. I guess they haven't heard of grease!
Maximo37
Kumba has been running really loud of late, to the point that it was rumored (don't know if it was true) that last year some ride ops were given ear plugs. Still, nothing quite like that B&M roar... Not a rumor... they do wear earplugs...'at least they were last week... Kumba gets my vote...
viking86
Twister @ Gröna Lund. The queue line is right in the middle of the ride and its really loud when the train is flying by.
xChris125x
Kumba is the loudest overall coaster I've heard. Having worked on TTD, I've had the opportunity to walk in the restricted area under the tower with a hard hat on while the coaster was operating. Standing right behind the hydraulic room when a train launches is extremely loud. Edited January 11, 2012 by xChris125x
deguy123
Even though it's "made" to be loud....I'd say Bayern Kurve at Kennywood! I really am glad I was able to ride it since its a rare ride to find in parks.
galindoverhere
The original Superman: The Escape at SFMM literally BURST my ears... It was funny when I would be under the track and my friends would say "Here it comes!!!" and I would run away from under the track like a cheetah
ntweisen
Mantis at Cedar Point is pretty loud. The Incredible Hulk is also really loud, I could hear it from inside my hotel room at Royal Pacific. In fact, most Beemers have a mighty roar! kmshimfe
I would have to say that Superman at SFMM is the most loudest (and impressive) sounding coaster that I've heard.

galindoverhere
^^Tell me about it!!^^ My first time on Magnum left me with an ice-pack on my head and m ears sore but luckilyI stayed at Hotel Breakers that time..
tt.repo.man
Big Thunder Mountain (FL), when the bat cave audio was still on, was always the most deafening for me.
Cyber.Fiber
^ When I last rode it in August 2010 I thought it was MUCH quieter than it had been back in August 2005. I am happy to hear that they just turned it off, and that my assumptions were correct! The fact that the sound is contained inside the cave made re-rides unbearable for me! tt.repo.man
I actually rode with ear plugs a couple of times.
simon8899
I love the signature Ra-tat-tat-tat of Schwarzkopf coasters when the train goes through the loops. On modern coasters you're always from the parking lot stretching your neck to see if they're all running - on the Schwarzkopf coasters you just have to point your ears.... The opposite are B&M divers - if it wouldn't be for the screaming girls you could sleep under them for hours and you won't be disturbed.
rcjp
Thought I'd bring back this topic after two years. The loudest ride I've been on was Dragon Khan, probably followed by great bear. You could just hear it from miles away! (well, almost) And I wish every B&M was like that.
gerstlaueringvar
Definitely Superman:Escape From Krypton. My ear really hurt every time I walk under the structure.
coasterbill
Batman and Robin: The Chiller was ridiculously loud when it was actually open.
A.J.
You can hear Great Bear from so far away...
cfc
Definitely Superman:Escape From Krypton. My ear really hurt every time I walk under the structure. I agree with this--definitely the loudest launched coaster anywhere. It sounds like a jet plane taking off.
simon8899
Another Schwarzkopf coaster coming to mind is the Jet Star - that coaster rattles and bangs loudly around. Part of the experience....
ajfelice
I recall Son of Beast's lift sounding incredibly loud with the original trains. Seemed like that thing roared for miles. As for non-coasters, Huss Screaming Swings are very loud but awesome sounding.
