I know its a random question: but when we went, I noticed Pilgrims Plunge was taken down. Is this just for seasonal maintenance?

You are correct. They completely dismantle the ride and remove it from their property entirely each season for maintenance.

 

Some parks will do that. They will dismantle a ride and put it in storage for the winter.

You guys realize the original question was about a 131 foot shoot-the-chutes with an elevator lift, right? I'd imagine taking that down for seasonal storage would be a tad unnecessary!

Didn't see Thunder Road when I went to Carowinds a few weeks ago. The guy cleaning the crappers said it's in storage for the winter.

So according to a comment on HW's FB in response to a question about what's new for 2017, the park said to watch for a video next week regarding 2017.

I'm going to guess some small park upgrades, perhaps a new show, along with some infrastructure. Maybe a new kiddie ride. If it were going to be a new family ride, or thrill ride, we would have heard about it by now.

Mean Streak isn't exactly a family ride, or thrill ride. . . It's a "roller coaster." And according to the park, it is a dead roller coaster that no longer exist.

It was near Christmas last year before they hinted about the Legend rebuild, so anything is possible.
