LiMiT Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 I think that Lightning Run is a great Mega-Lite contender, and because of its installation I see more small airtime-filled coasters in the future for the US.
Superbatboy Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 I think that Lightning Run is a great Mega-Lite contender, and because of its installation I see more small airtime-filled coasters in the future for the US. Â I really hope so, just watching POVs on youtube makes me salivate over them
Meteornotes Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 So which will happen first, another coaster like Lightning Run in the US, or the first US Mega-Lite? Â I'm going with the first one. Â dt
robbalvey Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 ^ Agreed. As much as I'd like to see a Mega-Lite happen in the US, I would also be VERY happy with more variations of Lightning Run!
rolercstrluvr Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 A lightning run at CGA. Just go in there, scrap either Grizzly or Vortex and put it in one of those spots and make it fit as a custom layout.

gerstlaueringvar Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Something like Lightning Run would be awesome as long as they can kill the nasty noise the wheels make. I really have to ride a Hyper-GRX to compare which I would choose between Mega-Lite and Lightning Run. Â Lake Compounce, Ocean Park, Gardaland, Adventureland and Coney Island can be perfect places for Mega-Lite. But Coney Island seem to be dominated by Zamperla.
DanTheBooker Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Holiday World will never get a big steel coaster.Don't quote me, i may be mistaken  I quoted you. And you were. Lol. Not knocking. Just funny!
Jew Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 I stand by my original post: they need to be EVERYWHERE.
StuckInSD Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 I'd love to see one around my SeaWorld. It's compact enough to fit almost anywhere, and SeaWorld needs a BIG thrill. Don't get me wrong, Manta is awesome, but it's still pretty small in comparison to what the other two parks got. Plus, there's only so much Journey to Atlantis, Wild 90's Throwback and Gilligan's Island: The Ride can do. San Antonio and Orlando got their big coasters, so why not San Diego?
Jew Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 ^I would disagree about Sea World needing a BIG thrill. It's not their demographic. San Antonio and Orlando face stiffer competition, so it makes more sense for them to have bigger rides when competing with WDW, UO, and SFFT.
805Andrew Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 I wonder if a Mega-lite or the Chance like version similar to Lightning Run would fit at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. Also I agree one would be a good fit for CGA if they get rid of Vortex or Grizzly.
IrishCasual Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 I really think Tayto Park should get one, it's the perfect sized park for one. And it would look really good along with the woodie that we are getting.
_koppen Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 So which will happen first, another coaster like Lightning Run in the US, or the first US Mega-Lite? Â The Chance version have the huge advantage of being cheaper if built in the US, due to not having to deal with shipping and import rules. Â I'm guessing that we will see several new Chance mini hypers in the US during the next years, and maybe if you are lucky someone will buy the Intamin version within the next 10 years.
cfc Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 I stand by my original post: they need to be EVERYWHERE. Â Exactly. Â I hope Chance version catches on, too.
coasterchitchat Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 I stand by my original post: they need to be EVERYWHERE. Â Exactly. Â I hope Chance version catches on, too. Â Hopefully, MiA gets that rumored Chance Mega-Lite in 2016. It'd be a great fit and they could market it as having the steepest drop in the state.
grsupercity Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Luckily for CF fans, cedar fair has had a great relationship with Chance! SO im saying there is a chance hahaha
larrygator Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 I just don't see it happening at a Busch, SF or CF park. Â My suggestions are Silverwood, Lake Compounce to one of the CNL parks when it goes to a new owner.
Gnome Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 While the mega-lites are great, I cant help but appreciate what RMC is dropping into parks. If they built more rides like Cyclone, medusa, NTAG, those could arguably be better then Intamin's stock hyper-lite model. Perhaps some one who's been on some RMC's and hyper-lites could provide some insight?
redfoot12 Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I think any of them (Intamin, Chance, Mack) would go in well at Elitch. Apparently, Elitch was in discussions to get the first Chance version a few years ago. Not sure what happened with that.
TPDave Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I think the question is what park shouldn't?!? They're compact, quiet and great fun! If any park can afford it they should definitely go for one!
Superbatboy Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 LR was 8 million?? No reason why smaller CF and SF parks shouldn't be installing at least the Chance version of mega lite.
ernierocker Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 ^Agreed. I think we can all safely assume we will see 1 or 2 more of these nationally in 2016/2017.
DoinItForTheFame Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 I would love to see a well themed Mega-Lite at Silver Dollar City. Having it weaving in and out of the trees, and poking above the trees would me amazing. Also, using the terrain of SDC would make for a really awesome custom layout Mega-Lite. Not that I think this will ever happen. But one can dream right??
