Six Flags Great Adventure (SFGAdv) Discussion Thread

I love airtime, so usually I like to sit in back of coasters. Any advice on where to sit for Toro and Nitro?

If Kingda Ka is open when I go, I'm definitely going to try for front and back.

For El Toro I and many others would say middle row, car 6. It isn't a wheel seat, so it is smooth as butter and equal airtime to the last row. For Nitro, many prefer front row for the view and speed factors. The airtime is similar throughout the train on Nitro- it is mostly floater airtime. Also, watch out for train C on Nitro- avoid the back of that train. I haven't ridden the back on that train, but many say it is jarring and has a severe rattle.

I'm 99.9% sure you'll have to process it at SFNE before anywhere else, or else everyone would buy their passes from the cheapest parks in the chain to avoid paying for their home parks higher prices.

You are absolutely correct. I was on the phone earlier today with my 6F homepark (SFGAm) to verify this. What a bummer, I'll be forced to visit Goliath before our first venture to Nitro and El Toro!

I couldn't agree more with those tips. Especially the train C thing. If you see that you're going to be on train C just find people to ride in front of you or if you have to just let the row go empty.

I don't think there is any benefit of trying KK in the back. It's definitely a front seat coaster because:

- it is the smoothest;

- best view;

- you feel the wind tearing your face apart ;

- it actually has more airtime than the back as while usually the front gets airtime on the way up a hill (in this case, the top hat) and the back on the way down, the ride has those stupid trims on the top which kill the air you would get in the back, so...

Basically, if you want, there is no big problem with riding he back but I just don't think it is worth it while you HAVE to try the front.

They all look exactly the same but on the side of the train each row has a letter and a number on it (it's fairly large so you'll be able to see it when you're 1 or 2 trains away). The letter is the same for the whole train and the number is the row number. Just make sure the letter is A or B and you'll have a great ride.

This is the train that sucks.

Zumanjaro's entrance sign started going up.

Any plans for vegetation or some sort of theming? Or is the entrance going to just be surrounded by tall wooden fences with dirt/sod on the other side in a large clearing...

The queue is surrounded by foliage and assorted plants/flowers etc. currently the fence is there and dirt is still visible in some places near where RT's station was, but I imagine those are only temporary. Have some faith- Six flags isn't known for theming, but they're not gonna do a job like this halfway and leave it looking "temporary." This is a major construction project at one of the premier Six Flags parks- they at least THINK about what they're going to construct.

Guest relations let me in for free. El toro is running the best it ever has this year. They retracted the only rough parts and it's not loosing any speed. So much airtime even at the end! Batman is also running amazingly. Nitro is in a deteriorating state but still amazing. Even superman had an empty station today it was fantastic!

Ummm...

I agree, sometimes Six Flags does a half-a** job, but these are very different circumstances. For one, Scream was over 10 years ago and for the sake of increasing the coaster count- it wasn't intended to be themed. Full Throttle is a minimalistic design- I'm not saying they're off the hook for that, but it fits. Sorta.

With Zumanjaro, they are adding to one of the better themed coasters in arguably the best themed section of arguably the best themed Six Flags park. Themeing, however little, is remotely present in this ride, which probably can't be said for Full Throttle, and by no stretch of the imagination is it for Scream.

Edit: autocorrect puts in "Yolocoaster" when I mean to say its real name. I wouldn't call a roller coaster Yolocoaster even if t is its nickname.

I was there today too as a guest. El Toro was running so good. I usually test ride empty trains in the morning and it's so much slower. I forgot how much airtime the second half can have and the laterals in the twister section were nuts. I also tried out Nitro's C train finally and it was really bad. The park needs to fix it or buy a new train if they have to.

I also saw Zumanjaro testing. They were dropping cars one at a time from left to right about half way up the tower. Hopefully they'll be doing full drop tests soon.

Sounds like you had a nice day! I thought about you while it was raining here in Philly and wondered how you made out. Glad you got to experience the awesomeness of our Nitro and Toro.

I had such a great time and yes, those two are really stand-out coasters. I made an effort of avoiding the C-train on Nitro too so nothing would ruin the experience. I'm looking forward to the next visit.

SFGAdv gets a huge thumbs up(sidedown). That's me doing it in the back row.

I still stand behind my point. Those images are behind the scenes for the most part, and this is what any park can look like out of public view. As for the RT piece, I actually thought it was kind of cool- there's not really a need to remove it in the first place. A little nod to thee past.

I'm not saying I expect Six Flags to pull something out of Disney's book, but for this particular project, I have faith that it will surely be presentable.
