boldikus
I'm glad it won you over. I always thought it was strange how people could have such different experiences on the same ride. There have been times where I've ridden a ride with my girlfriend (who's much shorter than me) and when we got off a ride that I really enjoyed she said it was rough and she hated it (the opposite happens too of course, usually on stand-up coasters which she likes and I hate). I have the same problem. My fiance is 5'4 and I am 6'2. She usually doesnt have issues but hated Nitro as she felt she was going to slip right out of the restraint but the minimal restraint and open trains are one of my favorite aspects of the ride. However, she loved GL which I despise. Go figure.
Swede
Tomorrow I will make my first ever visit to SFGAdv. The weather forecast says rain but I couldn't care less. Kingda-Ka is closed anyways and it being a weekday too I hope to get in a fair amount of rides without a FP. I'm super excited and I'll make a photo TR about my impressions of the day. boldikus
^^ Its a great park with some great coasters, you will have fun. My opinion is who needs KK when you have Toro, Nitro, Bizarro, Superman, Batman, etc. Also Runaway Mine Train and Skull Mountain are definitely worth checking out! As discussed here prior, they will run everything in the rain unless there is lightning. Let us know what you think!
boldikus
Oh and one last thing about yesterday, on my first ride on ET (2nd to last row) they did basically the opposite of stapling me in, I had so much space between my legs and the lapbar, I can't believe the sensors actually let me ride. So I was getting INSANE ejector air on the first drop, the hills, and the RT drop. Today my upper thighs are insanely sore, and a little discolored. Toro gave me lapbar thighs! lol (Thanks jesus for the seatbelt) Anyone else ever get bruised by a lapbar/coaster?

coasterbill
The only coaster that's given me a physical bruise was Magnum but we rode it a lot before that happened.
Intimidator305
This may have been covered already and I may have missed it but do we know how guests are going to get all the way to the base of Ka to ride this? So I guess what I'm trying to ask is are they expanding the midway all the way back there or is it just going to have the longest entrance/exit in the world? Either way it seems awkward and I hope they fill that space in the future with other attractions to make Drop of Doom not seem in the middle of nowhere... boldikus
There is a path being built between Ka and Toro on RT's old footprint that goes back to the base of Ka's tower. It breaks off from the Golden Kingdom path close to where Ka's entrance is. You can see it easily from Toro's break run now that RT is gone. jetsplumber
I wish SF would set up Ka like they do in cedar point, bleachers and the whole nine yards. you can literally spit on the track you are so close at cedar point.
Her0ofLime
My Coworkers and I are planning a trip to Jersey in June (21st and 22nd). We're hitting the water park on Saturday and Great Adventure on Sunday. I remember Sundays at SFOG being much less crowded on versus a Saturday. Hopefully things are kinda sorta the same way. I also think that is enough time to give them to finish Zumanjaro and have KK running smooth as well. I'm extra excited because I've been wanting to go to this park since they built Nitro! Even during Fright Fest Sundays at SFGAdv are not crowded at all, so I think a sunday in June will be an amazing day to go.
LDedios432
Hey guys! Just curious -- I know on the website it says that Kingda Ka is closed down until Zumajaro is open..but on Twitter and instagram...it seems like they're running the ride either on the weekends or sporadically...Gonna be there next Friday, hoping that it's open..but I'm guessing I shouldn't get my hopes up too high? It will be Friday the 13th, after all!!

My legs were so sensitive after a few rides on skyrush that even Fahrenheit felt painful (the first time I rode it).
El Toro_Ryan
Oh and El Toro ran INSANELY fast later in the day compared to our morning rides. Sat in same seat (second to last) on all three rides so we could not have been imagining it. Our last ride on it was around 4:30 and holy jesus it was hauling A$$! I overheard quite a few people gushing over El Toro throughout the day, its such an amazing ride. Lol El Toro speeds up greatly during the day. Some of its morning test runs are scary slow and the train doesn't even run fast enough over the Rolling Thunder hill to make the fart noise. I wish SF would set up Ka like they do in cedar point, bleachers and the whole nine yards. you can literally spit on the track you are so close at cedar point. The state of New Jersey prevents SF from doing so. The ride originally had an observation deck and the original q line was in the infield of the ride but after Ka had its accident opening year, the state of NJ did not want anyone near the launch track. The q line you see today is actually the original overflow q line and the path the q line takes now blocks off where the entrance to the observation deck used to be. glouthan
I actually think the "hiddenness" of Kingda Ka makes it what it is. When you can't see the launch, it seems more mystic, majestic, and forbidden. Just my two cents. Edited June 3, 2014 by glouthan

Just my two cents. I agree actually, the distance from the rest of the park gives the ride this spooky "monolithic" quality that's really awesome and lasts right up until the point when you crest the top and suddenly you're staring at parking lot. Brassinthegrass
I agree... Sometimes I wish they built It going the other way, so the crest was facing the park, and the launch was next to the parking lot...

Not to mention that Top Thrill Dragster's bleachers fit the theme of being at a drag strip. Even if they could build them, something like that would look ridiculous in the Golden Kingdom. Intimidator305
^ It's Six Flags we're talking about... anything goes #yolo I do however wonder how they'll protect those waiting/on Drop of Doom from loose articles of Ka without making it look too tacky. YoshiFan
I will be at Great ADV this Thursday. I'm guessing Zumanjaro and Kingda Ka will be closed? Anyone know if this is true? Yes both will be closed. Zumanjaro doesn't have an opening date yet and while they work on Zumanjaro, Kingda Ka cannot run (it has been running on the weekend at times they are not working). Maybe some bamboo roofing that would fit the Golden kingdom Theme? Or something like the Bug's Life queue at Walt Disney World - I know that queue has some netting over the pathway and it doesn't look out of place. The park has built a shade structure that covers the entrance and exit line on the portion of the line that circles Ka's tower. This picture was taken a few weeks ago. I'm pretty sure the shade structure has been finished since then but I couldn't find a photo of it. Also, the park has been testing the catch cars and cars together. I don't think the cars have actually been dropped yet but they have been raised and lowered several times. (Edit) I just found this pic, the roofing does not have bamboo but just regular roof shingles.
