boldikus
^^ Exactly. Not to mention thats ACE's quote, not directly from SFGAdv.
saweetdude05
This is definitely good news for the park. While it might slightly slow down Zumanjaro construction since they cannot work on the ride itself (I'm assuming while KK is open) during the weekends, at least all the coasters will be open during the busiest days of the week. boldikus
I can't imagine there is that much more that needs to be done to Zumanjaro. The tracks are done, gondolas are on, so barring electrical work what else would they need to do besides testing? Ryan or anyone know if they have tested it at all? In my recent visits I haven't seen either ride run at all. Id imagine they are going to have to test Zumanjaro *with* Ka to make sure they can run simultaneously - unless of course there is truth to the rumor that they won't run at the same time. KBrylczyk
^ Oh geeze, can you imagine the walkie talkie chatter? Or the people on Ka trains just sitting there watching and waiting forever for the gondolas to climb allllllllllllllll the way up, wait, then drop, then wait for the clear, then finally launch? That'd put a disgusting dent on capacity, to be sure.
boldikus
As far as I know that's only a rumor, likely due to the fact that they had issues with Chiller's trains running simultaneously. I can't imagine, especially after the Chiller issues, that they would have made the investment in Zumanjaro if they couldn't run it while running the ride it is attached to, arguably the most popular ride in the park. Not to mention I'm sure the "visual effect" of the two rides running simultaneously was part of the reason for installing it there, similar to SM:EFK/LL:DOD. boldikus
Well, its up on SFGAdv's FB page that it IS running this weekend, with a photo of the train rolling over the top hat w/ Zumanjaro already constructed. So there you have it.

Chiller didn't duel because of it's power consumption, not because of safety concerns. If both sides launched at the same time parts of the park and Jackson lost power (sometimes, not always). boldikus
I'm sorry, I swore I read that the possible need for non-simultaneous runs of Zumanjaro and KK would be because of power issues. And again of course I'm assuming that's some BS rumor someone pulled out of their ass due to the power issues w/ Chiller. I wasn't referencing any safety issues. But since you mentioned it, I don't see how they couldn't have considered a safety issue before/when they made the investment of the new ride. Brassinthegrass
I agree. I'm sure it will be fine with both running... Plus, the drop tower really won't use too much of a power draw.... It's just a basic winch system...

jetsplumber
well I just got home from the park today. my whole opjective today was to get some rides on el toro first thing in the morning and wait till kingda ka opened. got to the park at like 9:30, made it in pretty quick through security, and they opened the gates at 10am to the rope, at 10:20, let season pass holders in, walked to el toro and got on 5 rides in under 30min. headed over to ka, and waited till aprox about 5pm to finally let us walk to ka. from whenever they opened to 8:30 when I left , I got 9 rides on ka. it did break down 2 times wheil I was on it, got stuck at the launch area, and they backed us off to unload, and my last ride at 8:30, and then it started to rain. due to summer right around the corner, I dodnt think I will be making any more trips till fall. one last note, being I was at cedar point a few weeks ago for opening weekend, dragster is definitely a better ride, way smoother, no shoulder restraints, and the sound effects and racing lights. also, SFGradv needs to invest in some paint, the blue track supports on the hill are so faded, and new signs in the que, they are faded as well. its definitely not as well maintained as TTD at cedar point. boldikus
So you waited from 11am until 5pm to ride Ka? Was there an insane line? Was nothing else running?

Was nothing else running? correct, just wasn't in the mood for anything else, I have ridden the other coasters so many times, was no reason to ride any of the others. and even when they started testing ka, it wasn't that crazy of a line. GigaG
I got 2 crappy rides on Nitro when I went and found it mediocre. Hopefully I'll get another chance on it. Also hoping I don't get walk of shamed on Toro - I got walk of shamed on Wicked Twister at CP, but I still fit into Millenium Force and Dragster with little issue. I did fit on Toro last year, but on the other hand, I fit on Twister last year too. Out of curiosity, how does Toro's strictness compare with Dragster/MF at CP? boldikus
^ In my experience Nitro is best experienced in the back row on either far left or right hand side. The way you get yanked over the first drop, the drop after the mcbr, and then the bunny hops while in the back of the train makes up for lack of airtime on the big hills that you can only get seated toward the front of the train. Ive only done front row once as I never feel like waiting for it and it felt faster than any other time I've ridden it. I just can't imagine going to the park and sitting around for 6 hours when Nitro is right there. Or ET. I would have just rode either all day til KK opened. TTD and MF I have no problem with the lap bar, it was the seatbelt that just made it. On toro I don't have a seatbelt problem, it's the lap bar. They usually have to give it a little push. As for wicked twister, didn't ride it. But I rode possessed at Dorney. And the attendant had to squeeze me in.
GigaG
Possessed's seatbelts seem much longer than Twister's. It's really a load of crap to me.
JonnyRCT3
Ever since they slowed down the lift, the ride has run noticeably slower. However, since then I've only noticed it running slower in the morning. If El Toro's lift is running at full speed (13 m/h) the velocity at the bottom of the hill (eliminating all friction & air-resistance) would be approximately 73.8 m/h. If the lift was running at 5 m/h, the velocity at the bottom of the hill (again, eliminating all friction & air-resistance) would be approximately 72.8 m/h. That's a 1 m/h or 1.4% total velocity difference. Friction & air-resistance effect a rides speed more than the lift does. Source: physics.
El Toro_Ryan
The park was insanely crowded today. We were expecting 35,000 people and I think we easily received more. The entire parking lot was filled and so was the over flow lot on my way out. I guess that's what happens when you combine memorial day weekend with an R5 concert (They'r'e apparently very popular but I've never heard of them until today lol) I also talked to a few maintenance people and so far, the only good answer I have gotten regarding El Toro's slowed down lift was to save on wear and tear both for the ride and lift motor. I still haven't asked the most knowledgeable person there yet so I'll let you know what he says.
DevilsFlight
Has anyone ridden Ka? Is the launch smoother because of the extra supports? I think a free pages back there was some speculation about supports right after the launch.
rcjp
^I don't really remember having an unpleasant ride on KK and I thought the thing some people didn't like about the launch was the fact that it seems to come in stages instead of just one long blast. (I have no complaints, though)
Brassinthegrass
I'm confused how extra supports in the tower are going to effect the launch...since none of the supports really hinder the other section of the ride...
