historyfreak92 Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 So I guess since this will be located in Egypt! Gwazi isn't going to be torn down!
PVA62 Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 ^yet. Looks like a fantastic addition, well done. I really need to get down that way and try out Kumba and everything they have!
WonderlandFan Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 is there a pov for the ride? ^^ possible gwazi rmc in the future?
Jcoaster Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 Cobra's Curse looks incredible. I'm glad they are adding something else to the Egypt area of the park as it was kind of dead sans Montu.
cal1br3tto Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 While I'm not hugely excited for this, it handily exceeds any expectations I might've had for a family coaster. Nice work!
DoinItForTheFame Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 While I'm not hugely excited for this, it handily exceeds any expectations I might've had for a family coaster. Nice work! That pretty much sums up how I feel about this coaster.
markysharky17 Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 This looks like a great edition for the park. This will definitely get me back to the park next year! And from what I have been reading it will have two elevator lifts right? Not just one?
rcrider4 Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Was there an estimated opening date for the ride? I might have business in Tampa early next year. Nothing more than "2016" so far. is there a pov for the ride? ^^ No full POV yet. Just the teaser video with clips of the ride. And from what I have been reading it will have two elevator lifts right? Not just one? I have read both 2 elevator lifts as well as one elevator lift and one traditional lift. Not sure which is right.
StealthFan Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Besides, elevator lifts are cool. Yes they are! As a big fan of spinning coasters I think this looks fantastic and worthy of planning another trip to the park when its open. In my opinion this is a fantastic way to follow on from Falcons Fury!
Philrad71 Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Cobra's Curse looks like yet another great coaster in an already impressive line-up. This park is awesome.
canadianparkfan Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Personally would've liked to see Gwazi get RMCed myself, but Cobra's Curse looks pretty cool too!
cfc Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 ^Well, give them time. Who knows what the future may hold, except for Cobra's Curse?
Uberbluedragon Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 So I'm just sitting here enjoying my Italian Sampler platter at the new Pantopia Grill cause it's the first soft open day for the new restaurant.
SharkTums Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 ^What did they change at it from before? I don't think I've been in there since it was the Festhaus.
RAWKIN_coaster38 Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 I didn't try it as Pantopia Grill but some of the other counselors said it was basically the same food that could be found at other areas of the park, but now they have an Italian section, Southwest, Chinese, American, a place to order sandwiches and salads, Starbucks coffee, desserts, drinks, beer, etc. Definitely the best food at the park (IMO) and I've tried everything except the pizza place. We'll be eating at the park all summer and at least Dragon's Fire Grill has more vegetarian options and some meat options that seemed good if you like that kind of stuff. Also, we got to witness the show when they soft-opened for the employees and it seemed really good. It was like belly dances in elaborate costumes. I'm pretty sure Cobra's Curse has one elevator lift and one regular lift.
RAWKIN_coaster38 Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 (edited) Sorry for the double post but today we got to do behind-the-scenes tours of all the coasters and I took some photos on my iPod. I'm not the greatest at taking photos so excuse the quality. Also, the lady giving us a tour of Montu called the 3rd inversion a "camelback hill" and I'm pretty sure it's a 0G roll. Also, every single person called the wheels under the track "up-lift wheels" but I've always known them as upstop wheels....is there another term for it or is everyone at Busch literally going crazy? Montu Stripped-down seat to show how it works displays showing how the chain lift and wheel assembly works The average park-goer can't see Montu from this angle! Testing! Seriously an amazing inverted coaster Test dummies at Cheetah Hunt! The maintenance barn for Cheetah Hunt A view of Cheetah Hunt the average park-goer doesn't get to see. Too bad it wasn't running yet! We got to ride it too! I actually liked the front slightly better today! For the control panel nerds Awesome view Sheikra maintenance barn There she is! Kumba Kumba WHere the trains stay at night We got to ride Kumba too! This ride seriously melts my face every single time I've ridden it! Edited May 31, 2015 by RAWKIN_coaster38

I've always heard upstop wheels which makes sense as they stop you from going up and not the other way round.
Uberbluedragon Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 I went to the park today to use my $10 perk and found out today was the first day the new Pantopia Grill was open to the public(technically a soft openning but close enough) I order the Italian Sampler Platter($13.99) which had italian sausage, stuffed cantalloni, pasta with sauce, a piece of grilled chicken and a ROLL! The new food area looks amazing and pictures don't do it justice, so please go try it today! A sign showing the new menu items. The left side The right side The middle area The Italian Sampler Platter and a slice of cake. A moment of cute for the day: a wild red shoulder hawk still a sleep after getting work done on its broken leg.

I've never heard them called uptrack wheels before, so maybe that was a slip of the tongue. Uptrack doesn't really make sense as a term. I've heard zero G rolls called camelback hills before, but again this is bit of a weird term and better describes actual camelbak hills
p-sychiatrist Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 While Mako will make a huge statement in Orlando, it's sister park in Tampa is building something that will make a statement across the theme park world. Lots of B&M hypercoasters out there have been built, and Mako will have reasons to stand alone, but I have not seen a ride like Cobra's Curse...EVER! My sentiments exactly!! Cobra's Curse is definitely the most exciting coaster announcement for 2016 to me, and it will take something truly amazing and one-of-a-kind to top it. I could see how Orlando locals might be more excited about Mako, but this ride has so many brand new elements and such a unique design (that I can't say for Mako). I'm not the biggest fan of spinning coasters, but it looks like this will change the traditional spin into a wholly different experience. And if the theming lives up to the concept art, we have a Disney E-ticket on our hands!
viking86 Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Sorry for the double post but today we got to do behind-the-scenes tours of all the coasters and I took some photos on my iPod. Cool report, I enjoyed it. Would love to do a backstage tour once, looks very fun! We got to ride Kumba too! This ride seriously melts my face every single time I've ridden it! Couldn't agree more. BGT has many great coasters, and Kumba is in my opinion the best of the lot!

rcrider4 Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Yeah Busch calls them uplift wheels. It's not a slip of the tongue.
RAWKIN_coaster38 Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Yeah Busch calls them uplift wheels. It's not a slip of the tongue. Ahh so it's just a company thing?
Ed Farmer Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 (edited) While I'm not hugely excited for this, it handily exceeds any expectations I might have had for a family coaster. Nice work! That pretty much sums up how I feel about this coaster. Ditto. No doubt about it, this will be well-done because it's Busch Gardens Tampa, and it's definitely not a cookie cutter layout that you'll run into at the local Six Flags. To me, Spinners, Eurofighters (coasters of that sort in general) are very underwhelming- they look a lot cooler than they actually ride. My favorite thing about them is that they keep people out of the other lines in the park. The good news is that just like most anything else that the Busch Parks do- for one reason or another, it should be worth at least checking out. Edited June 1, 2015 by Ed Farmer
