Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread

p. 832: Camp Snoopy announced for 2024!

The trains were probably too light. The coaster's hills were designed for heavy trains, and there is a BIG difference in weight between the G-trains and the ones it was desinged for, so I'm not surprised.

Sorry i didn't post this earlier. I had to go home yesterday from Coaster Con even though they were off to go to Holiday World the next day and it was a 10 hour drive back to NJ so updating this was not on my mind.

But i didn't leave w/o going on top of the Eiffel Tower again.

Guess what I spotted! A train was stalled 1/2 way through the helix at the top of that hill.

I have pics. I will post them soon.

I saw that also, but did not get any pictures of it. At the end of the night both trains where parked in the station. The rest of the day I saw a lot of people walking the tracks of SOB.

Oh dear god, this thing just looks horrible. For god sake why did'nt Cedar Fair wait for the PTC's, it probally would still suck but it would'nt be as bad as it will be with those horrible looking G trains.

I dont think any trains (except FCI trains) will make this coaster good. Coaster Express has good Intamin trains and that ride is supposed to be as bad or even worse than SoB. Well I am not looking forward to riding Coaster Express on Sunday.

I dont even know if this would be even worth the credit. It just looks horrible.

Sadly I need the credit so I will be experiencing, neutered but somehow more painful SOB. If they did in fact test it a few times with only the three cars, perhaps it was to see if the human body / track could even withstand the vibrations this thing will create before subjecting the track to a full test?

I can't believe what an atrocity SoB has turned out to be. I rode it back in its first season & actually liked it. Yes, it was a bit rough but it seemed to be less-rough (if I remember correctly) on the left side. For me, having a decent memory of how it ran, it's such a shame that they can't even get it to complete a full circuit now. I mean, physics is physics & engineering is engineering right?!? Did they NOT figure out that it could stall? I know that there are a lot of scenarios that could be taken into account but were their calculators/computers not working the day they decided a slightly new layout & different cars?

In a somewhat-related question: assuming they actually do get SoB open again, since it should be such a different ride, would it be considered a new credit? Not that I'm counting or anything

^At this point, they're beyond the realm of engineering and more in the "guess and check" area. They'll have to add some weight to the trains to complete the circuit, which defeats the purpose of the new trains and removing the loop in the first place (less wear on track). Haha, Kings Island, you make me laugh.

Could it in fact valleyed because the wheels are not broken in yet? The Premier trains have also valleyed in the rose bowl, so I wouldn't count it out just yet. Also probably as why I saw pics of 3 car trains, they took the train apart to either push it back to the station or something to that effect. I also heard it ran test runs today. When were these picture taken?
