P. 835: The Beast re-tracking effort announced!

Yep, I believe that picture is taken in between Adventure Express and where Thunder Alley used to be, where if Son of Beast would still be standing, you'd be facing the support structure of the lift. That pathway on the left there used to run parallel to the lift, so yeah, this "field" as it is now, looks very bare! Hopefully something starts happening here near the end of summer...

That plot of land looks like an excellent place for the world's tallest wooden coaster. Maybe even add a loop to it.

Oh wait, nevermind!

I know it may have been a torture device but damn it...I always wanted to know...at least have the experience.

Ah well.

I believe its a very large area, perhaps the 100mph "traditional" coaster I've always wanted?

The one I built in nolimits was only 335 feet and 8500 feet long

something interesting I found on Google earth. I know it's 2 photos spliced together but I find it cool that the satellite was it the right place at the right time kinda thing.

That's pretty amazing how that area now looks. You can't really tell that the one of the worlds worst woodies was there only a bit ago!

Let's not forget that behind that site is even more space left over by the old animal safari attraction from many years ago. KI has a TON of space to work with. Let's hope they have a really good plan for that area!

They also used to have a campground over in that general area. I believe that they tore it out to build the golf course - which didn't have much success.

I know this probably wouldn't happen, but it would be nice if they could put a campground next to the park again as it really was convenient for families to be able to walk to & from the park.

Former campground/golf course area.

I can't really say for sure if they own that land beyond SOB's plot of land or not. In doing a quick search, it looks like Great Wolf Resorts owns the land of the former campground, but not sure how far that stretches back.

The campground was located right where the great wolf lodge is now.

The white fence along the road in front of the lodge, is all that remains of the campground. I remember camping in a tent next to that fence.

Don will be taking questions about Kings Island on twitter tonight from 7:00pm - 7:30pm EST (@KingsIslandPR).

When someone mentioned something about future roller coasters, he replied "down the road." Hopefully that means 2014-2015!

It looks as though Action Zone is in for a major overhaul/retheme, presumably with the rumored 2014 ride on the SOB site. It seems like Jungle Jim's may be acquiring the water tower from Action Zone? Not confirmed in anyway, but there is a picture of Jungle Jim looking at in on their FB along with some interesting comments from the store.

Action Zone is the last of the park's sections to see any work done to it. I'm hoping when that happens we'll see a little more landscaping and less concrete. At least when it used to be Adventure Village/Wild Animal Habitat it didn't look as sterile as it does now.

Kings Island needs a new ride in order for the attendance to go up. We need a general expansion of the area not just one rollercoaster we need a rollercoaster but we also need new flat rides, etc.

Something huge is in the works at Kings Island. Thunder Alley is gone too, so now there is a ton of room for expansion!

Don't want to blow all your space in one installment...I can see them taking a few years to fill out this area for long-term growth.

Planning on going to Kings Island this year, is it still worth it?

LOL, this made me laugh. Sorry.

the park hasn't lost anything, go have a good time. Son of Beast was closed for a long time anyways.
