thepoint4life23
Quote Hoping i can talk my wife in to letting us go for a few hours in April. I have a wedding in DC and figure could swing by before heading home to Ohio. You would think it wouldn't be that busy

Vonni
Just out of curiosity, has Roar ever received millennium flyer trains?

disownedpear
Roar opened today. The park seems to be doing pretty well, the ops are fantastic this year, super nice and lots of interaction with guests. I've always thought the ops here, if not always the fastest, interact with the guests a lot more than other parks I've been to. Batwing wasn't open but it was good to see them working on it all day. Everything else was open. 1
Jason Maier
When I went back on April 12th, I noticed some retracking/fresh wood on Roar. Good progress, I'd prefer Titan Tracking and MF trains though. And I wonder how much longer Batwing stays around. It usually opens an hour later than the other rides, and maintenance dreads working on it. I know the second train was repurposed for a parts donor, but with no fresh parts being made for Flying Dutchmans anymore you got to wonder ... I'm not a fan of Batwing or Nighthawk, but what do you mean by "no fresh parts being made anymore"? They're made by Vekoma, right? I'd assume that if either Six Flags or Cedar Fair needs a part they'd be able to get it direct from them, no?

A friend I have worked for SFA for several years, and apparently Vekoma no longer sells parts for Flying Dutchman, so SFA must fabricate parts themselves or with local machine shops. coasterbill
I feel like enthusiasts put too much stock in what is and isn't on a manufacturer's website so sorry in advance for doing exactly that but it seems weird that they would be promoting these models on their website and then not offering parts for them at all.
bert425
^ yeah. . but the Vekoma site also still lists Firehawk on it - as the only other Flying Dutchman.
jarmor
Yeah. . . that argument doesn't hold well as it seems they are showing where some are installed, not "we offer these types". . .

It usually opens an hour later than the other rides Guessing it’s open later than everything else because it’s farther back in the park than everything else. Probably smart time management to not open the ride when no one would even show up in line for the first 30 minutes (really, who wouldn’t stop first at Superman before going to Batwing?) and not able to fill a full train for the next 30 minutes? Maybe giving them too much credit but the schedule probably comes from actual rider volume. Seems like a lot of parks are more smartly scheduling their limited staff where the crowds actually are at the start of the day and later opening rides that take a long time for the masses to work their way back to. bill_s
^^-- On a visit ~10 years ago, Batwing opened around 5 PM (Roar never did).
Jason Maier
So I went yesterday and of course Batwing was closed most of the day. I'm not even going to bother with speculating on it's future because the park will keep it running until it done dies.
CoasterAuditor
Considering making my first visit here for the first time since 2008 and to activate my pass. Does anybody know if Superman has been operating lately? It is listed as closed on the app so I want to see if that was just a temporary thing or if it's been closed for a few days. If so then well it should be a quick visit to grab Firebird and Cajun then jump on the wooden coasters, Joker, and Harley Quinn and head back south to KD. CoasterAuditor
So it would appear that Whistlestop Park and Coyote Creek, the entire sections of attractions have been removed from Six Flags Americas website, and one of the facebook fansites is reporting that they are closed for the season just kind of out of absolutely nowhere. Not sure what this indicates but it's somewhat alarming to see two entire sections shut down for the season in August maybe something happened to the power grid they are on? Very odd. boldikus
Where on the website are they missing from? They're still on the park map and most of the rides in those sections are still listed under the rides section of the site?
ilyf15
if you click on it! gives you page not found
CoasterAuditor
Yeah if you click on the link for any of the attractions it gives you a "page not found" error and then on the app the bubble on the map doesn't appear for anything in Coyote Creek or Whistlestop Park. It's very bizarre and I hear SFDK shut down a few rides as well.
boldikus
If they are closing off those areas, I'd gander it has more to do with staffing than anything.

Zand
Not familiar with SFA's Whistlestop Park, but if it's as small and pointless as the one at SFNE, no big loss there. And then isn't Coyote Creek just Mind Eraser and a flat or two? If anything, closing those areas off might make SFA less terrible. As long as Superman, Jokers Jinx, Wild One, and the Drop Tower are open they could just go all Lakemont on the rest of the place for all I care lol. Jason Maier
Sometimes I wonder if the future for Six Flags America is bleak. I mean I like Wild One, Superman: Ride of Steel, Joker's Jinx, Harley Quinn Crazy Spin .... but they have protentional, just .... there's a je ne sais quoi about it all? But hey, no Mind Eraser to torment people
Rai Fox
It might be a little early to assume there are any major changes at the park just because the ride pages aren't loading properly; Bassoul probably just fired the web devs for spending money on software licenses or something.
