spaceace12 Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 http://www.49abcnews.com/news/2007/jul/10/teen_tossed_out_amusement_park/ We got on the the ride and got off the ride and the security office approached us," says Kelly Sites. She and her family had been at Worlds of Fun for less than two hours when they realized that her nephew was being thrown out of the park. "They said that Aaron had taken the picture of a woman behind us in line when she had leaned over and exposed herself," says Sites. According to a spokesman for Worlds of Fun, security wasn't allowed to speak to Aaron, but did get accounts from eight different witnesses. And they didn't confiscate the camera. Sites had the pictures developed. A blurred picture pointed up toward the sky was among others taken at the park. According to those witnesses, the picture in question was taken on the sly. "This person as it was described by the eight other guests took a camera out of the pocket, faced it backwards, clicked, took the picture and rewound it and put it back in his pocket," says Worlds of Fun spokesperson Brandon Stanley. "We were just trying to clear his name. You gave us a piece of paper saying this child has made a sex offense," says Sites. A spokesman for Worlds of Fun says there was no mention of a sex offense in the report, but would not give us a copy. "We wouldn't arrest that person because it was not an illegal act. But the security person thought the conduct was enough to remove the person from the park," says Stanley. Though her nephew was the only one thrown out, Sites says they all left the park and are upset by the whole incident. "We would all like our money back because our whole day was ruined," says Sites. Aaron will not be allowed back into the park for the rest of the season. Because of security reasons, Worlds of Fun won't say how it will enforce the ban. Stanley says the park did not press charges because it is not illegal to take those types of pictures in Missouri or Kansas. My issue is that they didn't take the camera or film, so the proof is gone home. They developed the film and they said the picture was the sky. Also, I can see someone taking a picture of the sky if it is the last picture and needs a new roll put in. If this is the case, WoF needs to reverse their decision to ban this kid.
FlyingScooter Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 Give me a break here. Sex offense? Nope, i don't think so.
gnewton34 Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 Hmm, weird. I can understand why they would throw him out but they didn't have any real proof. If he did, then he should have been thrown out. And yet, they don't seem to have a problem with a woman bending over and exposing herself to the family and at least eight other people?
Jive Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 If it's not illegal then there isn't a reason to confiscates the camera. If someone is going around the park making people feel uncomfortable by doing something like this then it would make sense that the park gave him the boot. Several others apparently found the act disrespectful as well. If they didn't do this and photos started showing up on a website somewhere then WoF might have a liability issue. I believe that they did the right thing.
Moose Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 If someone bends over to the point of exposing themselves, then the expose themselves to others taking pictures of it. The flasher should have been the one thrown out, not the kid taking the pic. I've never takne a pic of a hot guy in a park... honest.
kennywood!007 Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 This is so stupid.... They better give the money back...parks are not cheap enough to get your money's worth in 2 hours..
kidcoaster Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 I do not see how they will ban the kid the whole year. I bet the park will forget about it after a week.
Jive Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 You might be getting carried away with the word exposed. It could have been as simple as her bending over and the kid taking a photo down her shirt. Either way I doubt that it's the type of activity that any parks wants happening inside of their gates.
BrownStreak Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 This is the kind of overblown crap that happens when your country was founded by puritans!
FeelTheFORCE Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 She should have been the one thrown out. She was probably exposing too much to begin with anyway.
EmBy Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 Sounds a bit over the top to me, from the parks side. How can they ban this guy but not take the camera off him. Also with the blurred picture of the sky he might have been trying to take a shot of something else.
IwantRevenge Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 But what did he do? He took a picture.......so what?
coasterboy76 Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 lololol banning from the park for the season...guess that is like getting banned from six flags for the rest of the season when I had an "incident" on Mr. Freeze... wow for being banned, I sure had fun those 10 times I visited the park after I was ejected and banned for the season....
Airtime&Gravity Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 Wow, that was really excessive, and the park has no proof to back up the claim. I have a question(well two), and it is how old are the kid and the women? This incident has been taken so far, and I have to question the validity of the witness statements.
Disney Dood Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 Well guys, the flash could have triggered a bomb. So I guess I'm leaning towards WOF's side. NOT
raptorcrew2002 Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 She should have been the one thrown out. She was probably exposing too much to begin with anyway. Depends. Was she hot? If she wasn’t hot then yes they should have kicked her out for exposing herself. Thats just not right. I mean after it's Worlds of Fun, and stop me if I'm wrong but hot women exposing themselves seems like a world of fun to me I have to guess she wasn’t although, otherwise security would have taken the camera.
Carnage Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 The kid obviously doesn't know the method of taking a picture of something funny without being obvious. You have someone pose for a picture, with the funny subject just happening to be in the background.
RaptorBoyASU Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 Or just use my stealthy camera techniques. Digital camera, look like I'm just holding it to my side. Sounds turned off.
Swoosh Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 From the sounds of it, the woman was rather hefty so I wonder why he wanted to take a picture of it to begin with.
Homer Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 Aw shucks, he now has to do MS paint trip reports like I do.
Moose Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 Or just use my stealthy camera techniques. Digital camera, look like I'm just holding it to my side. Sounds turned off. You are too good at this. I knew you do it and still 90% of the time did not notice you taking pics.
Jew Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 You guys all have to remember one thing: an amusement park is private property. Outside of discrimination, anyone is liable to be kicked out for any reason. I'd say having 8 witnesses to something creepy qualifies as enough proof to kick the kid out.
redfoot12 Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 I agree with the park. Kick the little pervert out. And the blob who was exposing herself. Kick 'em all out I say. I don't want little pervs or overexposed fatties running around theme parks.
