P. 2037: Siren’s Curse tilt coaster announced for 2025!

As much as I'd like to see Mean Streak get the RMC treatment, I don't really think the layout is suitable for it.

Mean Streak is practically the sister coaster of the (old) Texas Giant, RMC's first I-Box conversion which obviously turned out *very* well.

Check out an old POV, their layouts are very similar.

They also mentioned there was extensive rehab over the off season that supposedly made it less uncomfortable..anyone who's ridden it this season agree that it's better than before?

Nope, Mean Streak still sucks. I don't think it's that rough for a wooden coaster, I just think the layout is incredibly boring. I had way more fun riding the super rough woodies at Mt. Olympus.

Oh and as to an RMC conversion others are correct. Mean Streak is literally and upscaled mirror image of Texas Giant. (In the same way Chang was a scaled up mirror image of Mantis (until MCBR)) but with that being said New Texas Giant is a huge success and I'm sure Mean Streak would be to if they converted it.

I didn't find it all that rough when I rode it a month ago, but my last visit to the park before that was in 2007 so I can't really compare. But like others have said, it's not the roughness that makes the ride suck. It's just boring with the modifications they did to it early on. If you've ever had a near trimless ride on it, you'll be able to appreciate what it probably once was.

I took one lap in the front seat this year on Mean Streak. It wasn't horrible, but it didn't stand out like anything major was done to it. Maybe I'm realizing I like the layout less and less.

Like I said in another thread (or maybe it was this one) I would rather see Mean Streak replaced with a dueling GCI like LR at Hershey (I know, they have Gemini, but I would love a "wood twister coaster1" with a high capacity and 4-trains) and an RMC built elsewhere later on.

^a racing GCI with an intense Goldstriker esque layout would be great for CP. I'm not giving up hope on Iron Streak though, since CP is allegedly only spending $15 mil on the dive coaster, maybe that has freed them up to ibox MS in '17.

I'm no park financial person, but I think the $15 million is just for the ride design and fabrication itself, and not the construction and expenses around that. If we DO get a 230' Dive coaster, I wouldn't be surprised if the final price tag turns out to be $23 Million or so. But again, I know nothing about ride cost breakdowns.

In all honesty, I did not find Mean Streak to be that rough on my ride earlier this season. I could name a handful of woodies off the top of my head that I found to be more rough. More than anything, it is the layout of the ride that is pretty bland. Little airtime, even on the first drop, the turns were not too forceful, brakes were hard. I would see some sort of refurb happening more to modify the layout rather than fix the roughness. But it sounds like it is years off if it does happen. The park could end up just saying screw it, and start from scratch.

CP has already confirmed that they're not doing a major coaster/thrill ride for 2017. During one of the "park trivia" things, it stated it wasn't going to be a water ride, thrill ride, or roller coaster. So I'm guessing either a Planet/Camp Snoopy ride or overall park infrastructure improvements. Kinda like KI did this year.

Where did they confirm this? I hope you're not referring to the queue line trivia game. That's hardly confirmation

You're right. They could very well be duping us. I just have my doubts as to two new coasters in back-to-back years.

^ To be fair, we don't know we're getting one in 2016 either. It's very likely, but maybe they're just trolling the hell out of enthusiasts, with what looks like a coaster.

I can see it now. We get to the final coasters on the wall, and then they put a final sign up:

Cedar Point, America's Roller Coast is home to some of the best roller coasters in the world, constantly shattering records! Next year, we are pleased to shatter yet another record, buy building the world's largest dining facility, that you can now eat at while enjoying our spread of amazing roller coasters!

It's actually significantly rougher than last year. But with that said, its way more enjoyable this year. They have lightened the trim brake so it only uses two instead of three. It now gives some airtime on the hills and some pretty cool lats. Still the worst coaster at the park though.

On my trip about a month back it was probably the single most uncomfortable coaster experience I've ever had. They finally listened to the community with Mantis, so I'm sure they'll eventually do the same with Mean Streak. The ride always seems to be a walk-on, even on busy days. Nobody likes it. I honestly don't care what they do with it eventually as long as something changes for the better.

I rode Mean Streak for the first time a month ago, and I didn't find it to be that rough, it was just very boring. The trims on the first drop destroy any chance of excitement on what's already a poorly designed coaster. Maybe it ran a lot better in its early years before it had the trims, but now it's a pretty pointless coaster that takes its turns at embarrassingly low speeds. Not sure if it's going to happen anytime soon, but I'm all for an RMC conversion.

Mean Streak should get the first ever wooden RMC inversion. The should replace the layout and track except with wood this time around instead of the Iron Horse.

I'd rather see MS get Iron Horse, and then CP add a new custom GCI.

Oh my god the rain today. We stuck it out as long as we could but ended up soaked to the bone and finally seeking refuge and crab fries at Chickie's & Pete's, freezing in the a/c. While we were there the rain finally subsided and the rain-stop rides were fired up. Raptor was a rare walk-on and we hit MaxAir for a hopeful dry cycle but nothing can help soggy bones.

The rain hit its peak right as my wife and I were climbing Windseeker. There is nothing quite like being captive 300 ft up in a hard rain.

Has the rain been that bad? I live in Wi, so usually the rain we get here makes its way over to Ohio, however here we haven't had all that much rain this year, just spotty showers usually.

The rain here in Indiana has been nonstop this summer with flooding everywhere (and another 1-2" of rain coming tonight ). I'm pretty sure most of Ohio has been experiencing the same wet summer we have.
