dankeykang Posted June 26, 2021 Posted June 26, 2021 Really? I ran into some folks who work for CP maintenance at Kennywood earlier this week, and they said they were hoping Gatekeeper would be ready in a few weeks (early July).
Haymaker Posted June 26, 2021 Posted June 26, 2021 ^ well, it doesn't actually say when he went now that I read it closer.
jedimaster1227 Posted June 26, 2021 Posted June 26, 2021 ^ I was there the two days before the chain broke. 1

prozach626 Posted July 2, 2021 Posted July 2, 2021 With such a large crowd, I wonder how fun it was to stand in a two hour wait for something as exciting as their log flume. Yet, we complain about 30 minute FL+ waits for incredible coasters. 2 1

AmyUD06 Posted July 2, 2021 Posted July 2, 2021 Back in the good ol' days, we could smoke in line too. 1
dankeykang Posted July 2, 2021 Posted July 2, 2021 Personally, I'd love to go back to a world without cell phones and with pre-social media Internet. Seemed like a much more carefree time. 5
ytterbiumanalyst Posted July 2, 2021 Posted July 2, 2021 The pre-social media Internet was awesome. That's pretty much why I'm still on bulletin boards. They're just better. 1

Seemed like a much more carefree time. Leading up to COVID closures, we'd started leaving our phones in the car during some park visits, or portions of visits. Since I have a tendency to post a few drunken snaps, it completely took that off of my mind. It's also nicer to have less to carry around. I wanted to leave the phone in the car for the last half of our KI visit, but Emily wanted me to keep it on me in case something happened to our daughter, who was staying with family. Not having your phone as a distraction helps you focus on experiencing the now, instead of capturing it on video. 2

That's actually one of the really nice things about a cellular Apple Watch (or whichever flavor of Android smart watch). You don't have to have your phone with you but you can still send and receive calls and texts. And it's easy to keep conversations brief ("Sorry I can't really talk, I'm on my watch..."). Plus you don't have to deal with loose article policies. 2
bert425 Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 ^ so why does the train in the pic for Iron Dragon have "XLR-8" on the front. that's what the suspended at Astroworld was called.... did CP have that too? or just a wrong pic in the video?

Wrong picture. Iron Dragon has always been Iron Dragon. I'm honestly surprised that was the only non-CP image in the video; local news stations are notorious for getting things wrong about amusement parks.
coasterbill Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 Well would you look at that... https://www.cedarpoint.com/live-video 3
VegasBaby Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 Love to see Gatekeeper back open, that's got to be the quickest I've seen a coaster re-open after a chain break.
dankeykang Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 I think it's still just testing water dummies at this point, but it shouldn't be long before it reopens to the public.
thrillseeker4552 Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 Say what you want about Cedar Point, but they really do try to hustle and fix issues like this as quickly as possible. Good for them.
Haymaker Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 Three years, three consecutive trips to CP, TTD down all three times.
southpuddle Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 There’s literally all day for it to open up. Don’t give up hope. 1
bert425 Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 rooting for it (and GK) to open today for y'all. tho I haven't seen MaxAir cycle once all morning either. . . but everything else at the front of the park seems to be up. https://www.cedarpoint.com/live-video

TTD was closed in the morning but opened around noon-1pm, so I would just keep a watch on it. If you see it cycling, head over and get in line.
coasterbill Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 Maxair has yet to open for the season and Dragster is broken broken. Keep an eye on Gatekeeper, give up on those two. 2
