P. 2038: Top Thrill 2 reopens on May 3rd!

^ YES! It was like some kind of social hang-out or something.

I also remember the hot water was intermittent and there were tiny fire ants crawling on the window sills, stains all over the floor. The entire room looked like something from a 1960's motor court.

I don't know if the one rodeway inn is closed permanently or they only take cash at the door lol and won't let people book online but no matter what date or rate I choose it says "n/a". Just... don't do it. NO NO NO. Luckily I haven't had the luxury of staying at the Rodeway Inns in Sandusky, but I know enough about them to say NOPE NOPE NOPE DON'T DO IT.

That's a really nice Super 8 (oxymoron, I know...). It's better than Super 8 Sandusky North which is really sort of a Biker hangout due to it's proximity to the Harley place, the problem for me is that it's too far from the park given it's price point.

I can vouch that the Rodeway Inn on Cleveland Rd is a complete sh%thole...and that was about ten years ago.

I've stayed in some crappy motels, but that place was truly shocking. I seriously considered just sleeping in the car in the parking lot, but there were parties going on out there for much of the night. I'm amazed they haven't been shut down.

Lol on the Rodeway...We stayed at the Rodeway Inn North a few years ago...it was a cheap half-day option until we could get checked in to lighthouse point...and our shoes stuck to the carpet. Made a velcro-type sound when moving around. Needless to say - we go to the Sandusky KOA for those types of situations now. We have to bring our own bedding and stuff, but for 40 dollars or something like that...the wifi was better than anywhere else on our entire trip.

None of our appendages stuck to any surfaces, either...

I guess I got pretty lucky getting Cedar Point Express for $99 a night in June as soon as they made them available to reserve...lol

I forgot all about that place. Is it pretty decent and clean? It looks like we can get a room for $91 in May as opposed to $150 at the Best Western and $300 at the Holiday Inn. Are there any drawbacks, since I rarely hear it suggested?

at risk of sounding crazy.

I like staying on the property. the little trailers are nice enough for a weekend and with a properly loaded fridge with lots of beer and snacks it is quite comfortable. You can take little breaks, have a nap, some beer, cheeze doodles &c, and come back to the park refreshed. more civilized than drinking beer out of your trunk.

Plus, money you spend there goes into a fund to buy new rollercoasters, and maybe a new garbage can for MIA.

Breakers Express is a good hotel. I wouldn't have any qualms about staying there. I think why you don't hear it recommended is that a lot of us just get Platinum passes when we go to CP, so the free parking and early entry perks don't benefit us.

Haven't actually stayed there myself, since the Hojo half a block away is half the price and works for my purposes, but in my line of work I've worked with the CP properties a bit, and it's a good hotel. For $91, I'd say go for it.

We have stayed at the Express hotel and had no problems with it.

I wasn't a huge fan of the decor (before and after the remodel), but that wouldn't stop me from staying there again. It was clean and decently priced and that's what matters the most. Plus as Andrew mentioned, you get the perks of early entry, parking, discount tix, etc just like you would if you stayed at the Breakers.

That and there weren't drug deals going on in the parking lot.

Think of it as if Best Western or Holiday Inn Express owned a Cedar Point property & wah-lah, you get CP Express (or whatever the hell they're calling it this year).

^^ I liked the idea of the camping cabins at CP (but didn't like them taking out the electric/water sites to do it), but unless you are rich or have a group of people that can pitch in, I found it terribly over-priced ($264 a night for the lower-end cottage?).

Yeah, it's on park property and I get that, but the prices that I have seen just don't justify it. And yes, we have stayed at Breakers plenty of times too. But we didn't pay $264 per night for it (Edit - It looks like after the remodel, you will pay close to this - after taxes).

I just went in and checked the prices for a Deluxe Cabin at the campground at Kings Dominion...same dates (a Thursday in June) and it was approximately $178.

I know that CP isn't KD and I know that KD's is a KOA, but that is still an $86 difference per night - and the cabins looked a lot nicer than the lower-end cottages. Plus they have a free shuttle to the park.

And if you want the lower-end cabin at CP on a weekend (Friday night)? The price goes up to $312 per night (almost $50).

KD's KOA goes up to $205 ($27).

Same date (Friday night in early June) for a Deluxe Cabin at CP? $409!!!

I see that they're cabins are all booked for the entire month of July on weekends, so there are rich folk out there apparently. And obviously CP has done their homework enough to know that people will pay the price, obviously. They are pretty comparable in price to the cabins at Fort Wilderness at Disney, although I think that the ones at Disney look far superior in size and space.

Sorry for the long post, but I just found the price comparisons interesting...

Looks like Coastermania tickets are going on sale tomorrow as per Tony Clark’s Twitter account.

Our #CoasterMania tickets will go on sale tomorrow afternoon. Remember: you must be a member of one of our partner coaster clubs to attend the event!

My only complaint is why in the middle of people’s work day. I already booked onsite accommodations and now I’m worried that I may not get tickets because I have meetings all afternoon tomorrow and don’t know if I’ll be able to breakaway.

Similar issue on my end, I am at the mercy of a non-internet-savvy family member to be on the lookout and get tickets for me since we have no idea what time they'll go on sale. Fingers crossed for both of us! Is anyone else here planning to attend?
