Compared to the recent history of new additions to most SF’s parks, including SFNE, Dr. D. is a “massive” addition for SF’s. Although fun to dream there’s nothing that would point to that type of expansion being invested in by SF’s at the park or if they’d even get the local clearance to do it. I could see some of the preferred lot scraped for more water park in the future. That’s the more probable footprint expansion IMHO. They in a way are prepping for it by killing reservations and making the front part of the main lot preferred this year already.

Went to opening day last Saturday. Weather was all over the place from sunny to thunder & lightning with hail during the day. Had a great time and did see several improvements with landscaping, fresh paint and a great looking new large sign out front. They have selfie spots throughout the park, a backdrop for pics on Main Street and other general improvements. Macho Nacho is gone and replaced with Hot Head Burritos. Fireballs sign is still there but walled off and other than the station Goliath is completely gone. Overall operations were pretty smooth and it was one of the better opening days that I can remember. New Sign By Entrance. New Photo Spot On Main Street. Currently What’s Left Of Fireball. Former Location Of Goliath. When The Weather Was Good!

Yea I believe they had to build a new staircase inside and not sure what else to. It was closed so I guess new features and a reopening of a ride that had been closed is the better way to describe it. -

Lake Compounce announced that for 2022 they are adding a new slide to their classic lighthouse in Crocodile Cove called Storm Surge. Looks like a pretty cool update/addition. https://www.lakecompounce.com/storm-surge Storm Surge Preview: -
I’m all for general improvements this year. There’s a lot that needs to be updated at the park. Goliath coming down was obviously planned. Although not very popular Fireball’s exit wasn’t expected until the storm took it out. My guess is SFNE will see CrackAxle Canyon get a steampunk update in 2023. Possibly the park’s next new coaster in the Goliath and, depending on size, Flashback area for 2023 or 2024.

I really hope they do add a few more rides to that list that I've seen circulating. I know that it's a smaller event than Great Adventure's but I have enjoyed the park during this time of the year. I thought they did a really solid job of adding the event to SFNE when they did. I understand the scaling back just hope it's somewhere in the middle instead of cut way back.

I personally wasn’t able to go but have seen several people comment on Facebook that the Thrill-A-Thon event went well and that it was a lot of fun. This was the first time that the park ran the event and I’m sure they will continue to improve it moving forward. I’m glad the park is expanding the event to include more groups similar to Coastermania and other park operated events.

I got lucky and got my DE VIP card, credits for paying through the pandemic and picked up the cup in under 10 mins but I went up to member services as soon as I walked into the park. Some of the lines since have been totally nuts. I really wish they would do away with the cups or at least make it optional. They are definitely an annoyance to have to carry around besides always wondering if someone is going to try to steal or mistakenly take yours. I like how Cedar Point offered both but but a refill time on the disposable cups. No issue at all with that. I'd rather be limited on refills and get a disposable cup instead of the plastic carry around ones.

I haven’t been back since this went up to see it myself but apparently there was an RV parked next to Tomahawk. Not sure what it would be needed for. The area being closed could totally just be for staffing but it will be interesting to see how much of this and the Goliath area potential get a steampunk retheme.

We got our first visit this season on Sunday to. Park wasn’t crowded but lines were slower with the row skipping. Pretty much certain that won’t be happening anymore starting Saturday since reservations are going away along with the mask mandate. We did get to checkout Supergirl. Actually broke down on our first ride. Sat elevated for maybe 10 mins at most and then they lowered us. Got on again just a few minutes later with no issues. Confirming that the ride sign is gone from Goliath. Beautiful day but got hot quick. Was glad to see that Blizzard River was open. As we were leaving I noticed a pick up window for member skip the line passes next to the normal flash pass building. I don’t remember this being there so either I missed it or it’s new. Either way happy it’s there now. Overall we had a great day and enjoyed being back.

Add Lake Compounce to the growing list of no masks needed if vaccinated. Also the need for reservations is ending soon. Updated guidelines can be read here: https://www.lakecompounce.com/plan-a-visit/health-and-safety
