I think Cedar Point knew what they were getting into with these record breakers. If you continually open record breakers, fanatics will begin to expect them, and I think that's where any dissapointment would come from.

 

I still think it's a great (and wise) addition for CP.

This ride looks like a GREAT coaster. This ride will have great Airtime, intense launches, Steep drops, good theming, and 3 inversions all in one ride. This ride should be GREAT! A great choice for Cedar Point!

I am kind of disapointed in the people who expected a 500-footer or some kind of record breaker. Incredibly disapointed.

 

Do we all want a TTD or Kingda Ka with just another 100ft added on?

No. Rocket coasters break down more often than what CP has announced. This one provides a "lift" AND a launch. It also has inversions and airtime hills. What more can you ask for in a package like this?

 

 

If you wanted a giant coaster, then you've been looking at things as if money was no object- Maverick is gonna cost a pretty penny. It's themed, it's an Intamin, and it's got LSM's, luxuries for coasters that cost more money than chains or built by Vekoma.

 

Anyone notice that this coaster has a BLACK horse and RED track. Stormrunner @ Hersheypark has a WHITE horse and RED track.

Maybe Intamin has a GREY horse and RED track coaster planned with a similar style planned?

This ride looks like it has a chance of being REALLY great, but it couid also be pretty damn booring if the rid is taken too slow, hopefully its not.

Hmmm.......the running of the bulls wouldn't be too bad from the resort gate. You only need to run past Gemini, across the tracks, and past CCMR.

I guess it makes sense that they started building the coaster portion of this ride so soon if they are serious about putting some time and labor into theming this ride to what it looks like in the videos. I just hope the theming doesn't look as cheesey as my gut is telling me it might.

Actually if the second stengal dive is bankrd more than 122* then they have a record, because MF holds the record for highest banked non inversion thingie.

 

 

^And i don't think thats a trim. It might be to slow the train in the case of a rollback so the launch can slow it down safely.

I think it looks pretty neat. Sure, it's no record-breaker, but CP has enough of those. Two launches, airtime and inversions, that's enough for me.

I am SO excited for Maverick, I really think that it will take the cake for best coaster at CP. I am very pleased that CP chose to go with a smaller ride with a lot of theming. IMO this coaster looks amazing it has good elements, good theming (maybe, just please NO neon paint anywhere), and hopefully good airtime !

 

I am very excited for this ride especially since I never really got all that excited for it. Ever since the construction started I have not really thought anything of it, but great job CP! See you next year!

Anyway if you go on, http://maverick.cedarpoint.com/ and watch the interview with the guy next to the mass of track, listen out for the bit where he says the the ride will have a 200ft lift!!!

 

No, Sandor said the launch would be the equivelant to having a 200 ft. lift.

It really strongly brings to mind a new evolution of a mine train coaster. I think it's pimp and will also shorten the lines at Dragster and MF. So two thumbs up.

Ok Robb you're right. After looking at the pics of Powder Keg on rcdb.com it does kind of remind me of Maverick with the launch and lift hill.
