P. 2037: Siren’s Curse tilt coaster announced for 2025!

Recommended Posts

I am very impressed with this coaster. This should be a very fun ride. I must get there in May to ride this!!

What if they need to do an E-Stop? They can't stop it on the lift with the LSM's, can they? Is the launch area the only place to stop a train (minus station, brake run, pre lift)if needed?

My guess is the lift will have rollback things on it so that it is possible for a stop, but it may not, anyone else know?

I have the answer to this.

You don't need antirollbacks because the LSM's act as brakes.

"Each has its advantages and disadvantages,” explains Kernacs. “The LSM coaster is a more complex design and requires more sensitive sensors, but it produces twice the force as the LIM for the same amount of energy, and you don’t need brakes because the LSM system acts as the brakes. "

I got that from an article in funworld magazine in an interview with Intamin.

But after the brakes slow it too a halt, you still need something to hold it there, unless the LSMs can do that as well, and what happens if the LSMs fail, or the power goes out?

Those shoulder restraints don't look so comfy. I haven't been on Kingda Ka or any Intamin's with those restraints (and it seems most of you dislike them as well), but I'm just wondering, are they only hard plastic or is there padding on them?

I've ridden Kinda Kucky, and those restraints for me (I have a long back), were not comfortable at all. but they are much better than the old restraints on Corkscrew and Draggin Itron!!

I guess those restraints have always seemed ridiculous to me... that's the only part of Maverick I'm not looking forward to.

Initial thoughts:

Maverick looks like a lot of fun. Yes its not the biggest, fastest, yadda, but it looks like fun!!

Launch vs. lift - if it isn't being lifted via a chain/elevator cable, its launched.

The POV video is cool, but it seems to be implying that the ride will run faster than it actually will. If you hit the first airtime hill at the speed in the video, your thighs are gonna be sore!

Synchronization. It could be very possible that the two launches will be timed/linked so ensure some dueling like Dueling Dragons lifts. That would be cool.

My only kvetch: think how much cooler Maverick would be if it was taking all these turns between all the trees that CP ripped out!!

Ya it stops long enough in the tunnel to order your meal at the Mc donalds in the tunnel!

Also that tunnel is a very big opportunity to use special effects. They can have like an Indiana Jones and the temple of the forbidden eye type of effect where you fly through stuff projected on falling smoke. Or maybe do a Universal Studios effect where you are in a spinning tunnel that goes around you so it looks likes you are tumbling sideways!! Hmmm but most likely they will just leave it black!

I agree with that, there should be something to mechanically hold the train in case the LSM's fail, but I don't know for sure if they can do that. Does anybody else know?

I'm actually very pleased with what they went with for the inversions. That low to the ground heartline roll is going to be sick! Not to mention the corkscrews will be placed over a geyser-filled pond. I'm just glad they built ANYTHING with inversions. CP definately needed a few more of them in the park since the last 3 coasters they built had zero.

Am I the only one who's a bit dissapointed with the inversions? 2 corkscrews and a heartline roll don't seem to be 'right' IMO. A traditional looping would fit good in there.

But the ride looks great, God please let me go on the midwest trip!

Personally, a loop is a loop, why bother to add just another loop, I don't think it would have added anything. I think that with the focus on low to the ground speed, a loop would feel out of place. Now a string of heartline rolls in the tunnel before the 2nd launch would be cool.

Just a thought on the launch vs lift debate.

In my opinion, if the train is traveling at a constant speed up the lift, then it is a lift, regardless of the means it uses to get to the top - chain, cable, lsm's. If the train is accelerating up the lift hil, then it is a launch.

IE - Maverick has one lifthill and one launch.

the 2 Corkies in a row are called a "Twisted horse-shoe rolll.." or something like that.

I am enjoying the fact that the zero-g-roll is taken at like nearly 60mph itself!

Well, if it's just based on the video, I think that seems a little fast, even for a heartline roll. I might be wrong, but I think the long uphill section is to sort of slow it down, and the real world coaster won't necesarily be like the onride video simulation. Look at the voyage, for example.
