Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

P. 2038: Top Thrill 2 reopens on May 3rd!

Recommended Posts

I know there's next to no chance of this happening, but I'd absolutely love it if Cedar Point pulled a fast one on the whole enthusiast community and announced a B&M Flyer. I don't think the allotted land is big enough for such a ride, though. Hopefully they'll add one for their anniversary in 2020. I'm really looking forward to Halloweekends this September and may have to check out Coastermania next year.

Anybody planning on going in the morning to take pictures?

Oh. Em. Gee... this is really happening!! I really can't wait for our VIP Tour to the park next year. It's been years since I've been on a dive machine and my partner has never been on one. Can't wait for a new experience together!

I have no doubt in my mind that this coaster will be a great, thrilling addition to the park.

Well, that confirms it!

It's a bit of good news/bad news for me... I love that we're getting a new coaster at CP! Still can't stand that it's another shade of Orange! (Insert Vomiting smiley here!)

I think that might be the Petro/BP on I-75 in North Baltimore, Ohio.

(edit: originally had the wrong location)

Can I just go back to this for a minute?

How can you even begin to be able to tell all the Petro / TA truck stops apart? There's got to be at least a hundred of them across the country (probably many more) EDIT: 249 apparently. If you could really do that based on pictures that show as little as that one I'd be amazed (and a little concerned lol). Even if you were a trucker my mind would be blown, lol.

That's pretty much exactly where they put Maverick's track isn't it?

^There is a picture on the last page showing the track being unloaded.

Thrillrider said it was in the fenced off construction area of CP

I never said "construction"area..I said fenced in area, meaning the area next to breakers express.

Any tpr members at CP that can take pics, it would be appreciated

Did you look at the last page??? There is already a picture.

I get that. Saw those pics. I thought they were being moved to the fenced off construction zone. Hence why I said my bad carry on

So once all the track arrives, I'm sure someone will attempt to piece it all together and confirm a layout. With all the spine size variations and such, it can't be that hard can it?

Nope... it's easy. You just need to measure the spine size variations, compare them to the nearest object with known dimensions, then check the acute obtusity of the isosceles tangent, divide by pi and carry the 2.

I did all of these calculations this morning on my TI-83 + and then used Autocad to render everything out, this is what I came up with...

I'm good at math. I'm smart

I still hope this is the real layout. It looks amazing. Some unique elements for a dive machine.

Yes, but there's only two Petro stations on the way from the Cincinnati area to Sandusky (New Baltimore and Perrysburg), and that's the only one with a sign post that matches the picture.
