thepoint4life23 Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 did you work Wednesday's? if so where were you after the long break down for to hours. i was one of the the people who waited 2 hours for it to reopen
Real Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 Good LORD, those OSR's look PAINFUL. I'm a little less excited for it now. They're not bad. Perhaps it's different in the back row (both my rides were front seat) but as I said before, through 2 rides I experienced ZERO banging against the restraints. It's simple - see a turn coming and lean in that direction. As long as you have a general idea of the layout and you don't sit there like a motionless rag doll, you should be fine. Closer I rode to the front the worse the rotational forces were on my upper body. In the back row it was far easier to tolerate and the rotational forces were a bit lower resulting in a "smoother" ride. Notice the quotes. Still easily best ride there.
kennywood!007 Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 Is the video link now working for anyone else but me?
rileybrands Posted June 3, 2007 Posted June 3, 2007 I was there this past Friday (June 1) and saw this: Magnum with two train operation. Much faster!
aro26 Posted June 3, 2007 Posted June 3, 2007 I love the sound of the LSM's in the tunnel. And did anyone notice how she ducked her head coming out of the tunnel. Pretty funny.
Gav- Posted June 3, 2007 Posted June 3, 2007 To bad they took out the heartline-roll, but it still looks great.
FeelTheFORCE Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 I love the sound of the LSM's in the tunnel. Yeah, I was thinking that as well, they sound awesome!
aro26 Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 where is the on-ride photo taker located on Maverick? Does anyone know?
Reality15 Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 did you work Wednesday's? if so where were you after the long break down for to hours. i was one of the the people who waited 2 hours for it to reopenWednesday I worked from 6:30 AM to about 3:30, and I honestly can't remember a large breakdown. So, today I definitely talked to Jeff in line when we were down for the weather the first time, had to go back up to the station, realized "duh, it's Jeff from TPR" and when I went back down to introduce myself and say hi, he was gone. So, Jeff, if you're reading this, sorry about the delay, nice to meet you, however. The sound you're hearing in the tunnel is NOT the LSMs. It's a sound effect that's supposed to simulate a "blast". No, it is not the same as the Dragster engine revving sound like some people think, it is a completely new sound effect. Once again guys, thanks for riding, make sure to say hi! -Jon
CoasterNut17 Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 ^I just reviewd the video, and turned the volume way up, and that sound effect is really awesome! I really can't wait!
dr.gumbo Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 This may be a stupid question but where is the video, I cant find it

My theory: I think it is just the LSM's that are overpowering the sound effect in the tunnel. You can just barely hear it. I'm sure if it wasn't on camera it would be louder. Before the launch and after you are up to speed you can also hear it.
HogarthOK Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 I'm not saying you are wrong, but, I hear the same sound when it's launched up the first hill, do they play it then also? The lift hill is directly over and runs roughly parallel to the tunnel. You're probably hearing another train being launched, or vice versa (hearing the "blast" *on* the lift hill).

RedB Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 As far as larger people go, I'm 6'1'' 230 I've always been able to get on TTD, and MF. Will I have any trouble getting on Mav? Thanks. I've only been on the test seat, but from that there seems to be more room for larger people than MF or TTD.

FeelTheFORCE Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Wow, mavericks looks os awsome....me wants to ride it But I also have a comment, everyone says this ride has a stengle dive, but it hasn't got a single one. The deffinition of a stengel dive is : "Stengel Dive," comprising of an overbanked turn built into the top of an airtime hill.' Those 2 hills are no airtime hills, for example, if Goliath@WW wouldn't have the banked part it would just have a good airtime hill with some turnage. However, if Maverick would have a flat or slightly banked top all of the rides would die. So its not stengel dive, just an ordenary overbank. Still, its a awsome ride, can't wait to ride it! Maverick does, indeed, have Stengel Dives. Look at these pics. This is a Stengel Dive. This looks almost exactly the same. IMO it's a Stengel Dive.
ghost007jas Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Not that there is such a thing as a Stengel Dive . Its a term used only by enthusiasts. Regardless it looks sweet.
