Crazy_Behemoth_Lady_Jess Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 Giant Dipper (built 1924) at SCBB last year.
Cavs Fan Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 Jack Rabbit at Kennywood is my oldest. Â I also noticed that pretty much all of the ones that are really old have the word "Dip" in them.
tiger01 Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 Jack Rabbit at Kennywood is my oldest. I also noticed that pretty much all of the ones that are really old have the word "Dip" in them.  Does Dipper Count???

PhantomNick Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 Add another one for Leap the Dips at Lakemont. Definitely pretty fun riding a living piece of roller coaster history!
davisal771 Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 Colossus or Revolution, not sure which is older.
walibi owner Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 Colossus or Revolution, not sure which is older. Â revolution is older.. www.rcdb.com
Jds03 Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 Lean the dips at Lakemount! Can't get any older than that...
Malc Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 Probably the 'Big Dipper' at Blackpool Pleasure Beach (1923). It's closed down unfortunately now .

ahecht Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Wooden: Wild One, Six Flags America, 1917 (actually from 1986, when it was moved and rebuilt, or 1997 when it was reprofiled). Thunderhawk, Dorney Park, 1923 (oldest coaster i've ridden in its original location, although it's actually from 1930 when it was changed from an oval to a figure-8 and made 40% longer). Wildcat, Lake Compounce, 1927 (oldest unmodified coaster I've ridden). Â Steel: Wild Chipmunk, Lakeside, 1955 (oldest steel of any type). Matterhorn Bobsleds, Disneyland, 1959 (oldest tubular steel). Â EDIT: Crap, I replied to this thread four years ago. Oh well.
cal1br3tto Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Time to post an updated response to this somewhat repetitive thread. I'm taking my dates from RCDB. Â 01. Jack Rabbit, Kennywood, 1920 02. Thunderhawk, Dorney, 1923 03. Thunderbolt, Kennywood, 1924 03. Giant Dipper, SCBB, 1924 05. Racer, Kennywood, 1927 05. Wildcat, Lake Compounce, 1927 05. Coney Island Cyclone, 1927 08. Dragon Coaster, Rye Playland, 1929 09. Coaster Thrill Ride, Puyallup Fair, 1935 10. Yankee Cannonball, Canobie Lake, 1936 Â Apparently I like old wooden coasters more in appearance than anything else. Only Giant Dipper, Yankee Cannonball and Cyclone are in my top 25, though I also like Coaster Thrill Ride and Thunderbolt.
Airtime&Gravity Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 My list: Â Jack Rabbit - Kennywood - 1920 Thunderbolt - Kennywood - 1924 Racer - Kennywood - 1927 Cyclone - Lakeside - 1940 Little Dipper - Kiddieland - 1950 Comet - Waldameer - 1951 Wild Chipmunk - Lakeside - 1955 Blue Streak - Cedar Point - 1964 Cedar Creek Mine Ride - 1969 Galaxi - Indiana Beach - 1971 Â So, prior to my vacation to Kennywood/Waldameer, the coasters I had ridden were fairly modern(relatively speaking).
STR8FXXXINEDGE Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 The oldest coaster that I've ever ridden is Leap The Dips at Lakemont Park, which has been operating since 1902. Here I am sitting in one of the Leap The Dips cars back in 2009
australianalex Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Scenic Railway at Luna Park Melbourne (1912) Its even operated by a brakesman! Oldest continually operating coaster in the world apparently.
downunder Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 I'll have to jump on the Leap the Dips bandwagon. I've also been on Rutschebanen at Tivoli (1914) which is old, I mean not Jeff Johnson old, but coaster old.
