jbarner14 Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 I think El Toro has the best drop. I experienced it in the back seat for the first time yesterday and found it phenomenal.
tedten Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 I'd say Legend The Beast's 2nd lifthill drop into the covered helix & American Eagle's 147 foot drop into framework (longest, tallest, fastest racing woodie in the world) are the best I've been on. Â Can't wait for El Toro in 2010!
Josh Linn Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 El Toro         Every other drop on a woodie I've ridden
90377sedna Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 Playland's Dragoncoaster in Rye, NY has a killer first drop. It's also blind, coming right after an innocent hairpin turn out of the initial ascent.
supermanrosfan0810 Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 El Toro obviously, and more under the radar I'd say Cyclone at SFNE in the backseat. Halfway down the drop off the chain there's one of the most violent moments of ejector air I've felt.
cal1br3tto Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 This is easy. Timber Terror: amazing airtime! I was so shocked. My quote after riding: "Did you feel that?" Tremors: I'm infatuated with the turnaround. I think I had an expression of pure shock every time, preparing to scream. The drop itself is tall (and the tallest I've been on...too bad) and leads into the first of several outstanding headchoppers (which I love)! Â Roar at SFDK is fun because there's that moment where I feel like I'm going to fly out...totally psyches me out. Timberhawk isn't too well liked as a coaster, but it has a surprisingly decent first drop into a headchopper. Â Best pre-lift drop is definitely the drop into the tunnel on SCBB's Giant Dipper. Amazing surprise every time! I swear there's even a bit of air. Â You can see how many wooden coasters I've been on...
The Bebes Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 Of the woodies we have ridden as of 2009: Â El Toro!!!!! Â No Contest.
Franc Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 El to the Toro (rode it for the first time today. Three letters; OMG)
PKI Jizzman Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 Voyage's is nice. So is Raven and Legend. Â BUT! The best so far for me.... Â Cornball Express! Laterals and ejector air. A speedy chain lift straight away; then BAM! Out of your seat and into the person/seat to your right. Awesome way to start an EPIC ride.
AmyUD06 Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 Of currently existing coasters, El Toro easily. Â If we're including past coasters too, tied for first would be Hercules. Before the "holding brake" on the drop of course. Â The Beast (again, pre-trimmed) is another very very close second.
alpengeist04 Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 I would have to agree with a lot of people here and say El Toro. Though I also like Tremors and Ravine Flyer II.
Loefet Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 T-Express!! Â That nice -1.5 g spike in the middle of the drop is awesome!!
PKI Jizzman Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 Voyage's is nice. So is Raven and Legend. BUT! The best so far for me....  Cornball Express! Laterals and ejector air. A speedy chain lift straight away; then BAM! Out of your seat and into the person/seat to your right. Awesome way to start an EPIC ride.  I know exactly where you are coming from...New Mexico Rattler's drop is absolutely amazing in the back seat, for the same reasons you mentioned.  But...the original Boardwalk Bullet drop in the back seat is the most extreme drop I have ever felt. It was seriously El Toro-like airtime just with a PTC lapbar...which means it was crazier. Too bad they smoothed it out (although it still rides great and has decent air, just not as good as the original).  I can't wait to bite the bullet
Absimilliard Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 T-Express!! That nice -1.5 g spike in the middle of the drop is awesome!!  T Express for me too! -1.5g?? Is that the most intense airtime moment on any coaster?
nowaymang Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 My favorite first drop on a wooden coaster is the Blue Streak at CLP. Quite awesome in the back rows. Â I also quite liked the Villian at Geauga Lake. (SFWoA, SFO, etc)
coolcalicoaster Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 El Toro, hands down. Although i haven't ridden T-Express.
nrs2420 Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 The Boss at SFSTL is probably my favorite at this time.
MattMattMatt Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 The Legend. Killer airtime in the back seat, into the tunnel with that massive positive g force and lateral as you curve to the right. Â El Toro's is amazing, of course, but being 100% stapled into the car kills it for me. The airtime and suddenness of it is great but there are quite a few woodie first drops I like a whooooole lot more.
CorkscrewFoley Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Mine would have to be Villain, especially in the back seat. I nearly soiled myself, as that was the first time I experienced pullover air.
