What do you think is the most Extreme flat ride ?

Recommended Posts

I think that the Tango can be run more crazy then a topscan... because a Tango can force you the way it wants to.. Where as a topscan free flips so you could get an inversionless ride...

I have been on many great run flats but then many crappy. So its not the ride itself.. Its how its run..

Canobie ' been on an inversionless chaos... at Cedar Point ' Fan

The Vomitron, Surfer's Paradise, Australia - not the most complex ride but it can reduce even the toughest man into a dry retching, blubbering mess.

Cha Cha, Funland in Ulla Dulla, Australia - a pretty standard ride but they seem to run it at warp speed, you can't even see the people in the other cars.

What flatride(s) do you classify as the most intense or scariest?

The most scary and intense flatride for me is Acrophobia at SFoG just because of the added factor of the 18" tilt at the top and the ride op's just scare the $h!t out of you!

Actually an upcharge attraction, it would probably have to be SFMM's Thrill Shot back in 20001. It only had a thin vest-like harness that kept you locked in...and you were seated on a saddle-like seat. When launched up 300 feet, the seats would tilt like 90 degrees or so, leaving you to freefall like a skydiver. You could 'pick your poison' by picking different launch methods: Staying upright the entire time, Launch Upright, fall head-first, and Launch head-first, tilt up, then tilt down for a head-first freefall. What made them switch up the pod and how's it ride now?

This version looks much more tamed down with it's not-so-free feeling seats.

Original style...The thin vests that held you in place

The old-style seats that gave you a complete sense of freedom

I'd also probably have to say any drop tower, which is probably my favorite type of flat ride. (Technically, it isn't flat!)

Besides up-charge rides, I honestly think a good Tea Cups can get really intense. If you put some muscle into it, you can get your vehicle moving insanely fast. It is hard to make me queasy, but going all out on the Tea Cups can.

What stands out to me is Tower of Terror at DCA. However, I rode it when I was extremely scared of thrill rides, so I don't know if I'd perceive it the same way now. When I rode it, I actually almost started crying between the drops. I felt so betrayed; it was almost like I trusted it to be a normal elevator and didn't realize it was a ride! Also, I didn't know that airtime was even allowed on rides, so I thought the "I can't feel my seat" feeling was just some kind of illusion. At any rate the airtime is the highlight of a ride that's excellent in every way!

-Tower of Terror; the 420ft Intamin 2nd Gen drop tower.

-Shock Drop at Beech Bend

-Wave Swinger at Indiana Beach

-Acrophobia at SFOG

I'm not really scared easily....but the rides above are freaky.

How can a wave swinger be considered an intense flat?

The roto-shake has got to be one of the more intense/scary flats I've ever ridden.

Most intense:

Huss Giant Top Spin- Don't ride this unless you are a woman. I can only imagine how painful the floorless version must be.

Round Up and Gravitron 2000- These make me feel really uncomfortable and give me a headache.

Hurricane- The whole time it just throws you against a sharp metal bar on the outer edge of the seat.

Roll-O-Plane at Lake Winnie- Ouch. It would be really fun if I didn't get bruises on my legs from being bashed against the sides during a barrel roll.

Cyclops (Chance Revolution)- For some reason, it was way more intense than either of the Giant Frisbees I have ridden

Most WTF flat ride:

Fun, but not nearly as intense as I expected:

Skycoaster

Best of the best:

Rock-O-Plane

Zipper

Skyhawk at CP- Amazing airtime, especially if you put the lapbar about 2 inches off of you!

Any drop ride, except for ones that launch upward (Red side of Power Tower= boring). Intamin 1st-gen towers are especially awesome.
