Wow, it will be quite something to see them lift the next section up! I guess as the tower gets narrower at the top it's not so heavy and cumbersome. I really like the railings on the launch track, even they seem quite nicely designed.

BTW I guess it's just the camera/angle that exaggerates the wiggles on the "straight" track before the brakes?

Thanks for all the pics

I sure hope it's just the camera/angle that is causing that!

At that speed, even a slight wobble will be rough as hell. This ride is not shaping up to be good. First the awful break run now this! Also it does not look like there will be a 270 degree twist on the drop.

Normall I would say "I'm sure it's just the camera angle", but I have to say on this one I'm not sure, the wobbling looks far greater than anything I've ever seen on a piece of straight track on a steel coaster. Would be very interesting to see more pictures of this from different angles.

Should we call Intamin just in case they haven't noticed during construction??

As long as it brakes the train and doesn't break the train I'm happy! (although the current track looks like it might do both)

Also it does not look like there will be a 270 degree twist on the drop.

I'm not sure this is a bad thing, might provide more of a freefall sensation.

At first glance I agree that looks ridiculous and unacceptable for a brand new Intamin coaster to be so off-line. But the reality is that even at speeds around 100 mph (which it won't be going because of the brakes) that's at least 100 meters of track. That's like 2 or 3 cm of variation every 30 meters... nobody's going to notice that. A rough set of wheels or poor train maintenace (like on Kingda Ka) would be so much more noticeable than slight variations in the track. Wooden coasters have variances like this after a year or two of operation in high stress points.

I'm not saying it's totally fine (it doesn't look good, but looks can be deceiving) but it's not time to flip out and say it'll be rough just yet.

If you see a few lift hill pics you'll notice almost none of them are a completely straight line. I mean, I also thought that this one is pretty noticeable but I honestly don't think it will be a problem. The only detail I found a bit disappointing was that lack of an airtime hill (more than the twist) but I can't really complain given the size of the ride.

I think that does look like it would be a park for the track that would give riders a rough ride. If there are some adjustment that needs to be made they still have to do a pull through test where they test every part of the ride for clearances. If there are some part of the track that need work it should be done before that test but certainly after.

I'd be curious to know how hot it was when these pictures were taken, and if this isn't just an optical illusion caused by heat waves. If the track was actually that far off of tolerance, I doubt it would have made it out of the factory.

Definitely not the heat. Any photo, regardless of time of day or angle, shows the same undulation in the straight sections seen in the photo; they are all consistent. I've noticed similar undulations in Flying Ace's lift hill. My professional background is in mechanical engineering and I have quite an extensive amount of experience with steel fabrication / tolerance analysis and there are two possible situations going on... 1) Intamin has loosened their tolerance requirements as a means to reduce manufacturing and construction costs ...or... 2) Something is going seriously awry in their QA process at the factory. Having that amount of variance in a straight portion of track either means the track itself is "flawed" (again, that variance might be within Intamin's tolerances, so might not actually be incorrect), or the footings for the launch track have an abnormal amount of tolerance within them (again, might be within Intamin's spec but still causing the undulations).

I think that it is just the angle of camera. If you look at some photo of TTD brake run, you can see same "waves" on TTD.

Been looking all over for a picture as you described and have come up empty. Here's the best shot I've found of TTD's brake run... straight as an arrow.
