FreeFaller Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 El Toro. No photo needed. Two words say more than any photo, right Laura?
Projektion Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 ^^True, but to me, it looks a bit much on the skyline now. Back in the days when DK was the only thing dominating the skyline, it had a lot more of an intimidating appearence to it.
GeorgeT Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 This is my favourite...especially in the wintertime (Source. Stadtkometen.de)
rcjp Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 (edited) ^^Sadly I didn't get to ride DK until 2012 when shambhala was built. I don't know how I forgot this but I have always loved the way nitro looks with its wide supports and spread out layout. Edited January 6, 2014 by rcjp
IronWolfman Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Twister II is pretty to look at, but it just sucks from what I've heard I think Twister II is great! Anyways, for me, driving up to Silverwood and seeing Aftershock is pretty awesome, along with the 2 woodies as well. Not my photo.
cedarpointer Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 (edited) I love the way The Force looks!! Edited January 6, 2014 by cedarpointer
ArizonaGuy Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 SKC gets my vote along with Iron Rattler. The quarry setting is great for these coasters.
larrygator Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I'll go with two that have already been posted. Wood Coaster at Knight Valley Superman Krypton Coaster at SFFT
DanTheBooker Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I think Freedom Flyer at Fun Spot looks stunning. The color scheme plus winding layout make it really pop. It helps that White Lighting has a pretty simple color scheme.
Angle O. Descent Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Even from across a major highway, Leviathan is still a sexy beast
gerstlaueringvar Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Wdire has one of the best settings I've ever seen.
tarheel1231 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Intimidator at Carowinds. Especially when entering the parking lot:
Geauga Dog Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 As stated Mean Streak from any angle and Son of Beast, especially from Flight Deck's station are/were awe inspiring. I also have to add SFGAm's American Eagle as you drive under Washington Street on I-94 and see the massive helix near the road and SFMM's Colossus from the parking lot. As for steel I'd say Phantom's Revenge from the parking lot and Intimidator at Carowinds as you exit I-77.
Comeagain? Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Anyways, for me, driving up to Silverwood and seeing Aftershock is pretty awesome, along with the 2 woodies as well. I love that. I think GIBs in general look pretty awesome. Especially if there's a train (not stuck) on either tower.
Vonni Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 I love the Skyline at SFStL. Its really a beautiful Park. As far as individual Coasters go, I have to go with MF, Superman Krypton Coaster, American Eagle, Raging Bull, and Mamba at WOF. Mamba has the perfect setting in the park! Those of you who have been there will understand what I'm talking about....
Dr. M Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Say what you will about Dorney, but that image of the lift hill of Thunderhawk dwarfed by the lift hill of Steel Force, that juxtaposition of old versus new, 80 feet versus 200 feet, is iconic and yes, to me, awe-inspiring.
Anac0nda Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 The norwegian loop on Speed Monster wrapped around the entrance-escalators to the park.
jynx242 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 It is definitely BRUTAL - but Ninja at SFoG has always been a pretty awesome "looking" coaster
cfc Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 It is definitely BRUTAL - but Ninja at SFoG has always been a pretty awesome "looking" coaster Painful Vekomas are often photogenic. Maverick is a very cool looking ride with the lake in the background--and it rides as good as it looks.
rctneil Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Even though I am not a massive fan of the ride itself (saying that my last ride on it was amazing), i'd have to put a nod in for the Smiler. As you walk down to it there is just that mess of track all crammed in one area and when you see two trains making their way around the track that have been synced perfectly it really does look excellent.
BenFreeze Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 I think Wildfire looks amazing from SDC's parking lot.
TNT Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 The Screamin' Eagle has my vote. The way it is perched on top of the hill, towering majestically over the majority of the park is simply impressive.
rcdude Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 I've always thought Xcelerator at Knott's looked quite impressive, not due to the massive structure but rather the lack of one. I've got a feeling that approaching the ride and seeing a 200 ft. tall arch of track completely unsupported is one of the main reasons why the ride scares people off (it typically has a shorter line than Silver Bullet and GhostRider).
