DBru Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Some GREAT photos of the topping-off of Pilgrims Plunge can be found here. (Watch the video/slideshow.) http://www.legendaryplaces.org/blog/blog.cfm Can't wait for May 2nd! (Or sooner, if they are looking for commercial volunteers. )
Raven Maven Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 A video of today's hoisting is on the HoliBlog. Thanks, Paula
themeparkman25 Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 They really through this ride up fast! Looks great though, thanks for the pictures/video/boat pictures! It looks great!
CreditCrazy Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Looks a lot taller in a real picture. Almost too tall (will gp ride it?). A pretty intimidating ride (which is always good) and a huge splash to watch will be great and build some adrenaline.
Wood Dragon 1988 Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Sweet stuff. Can't wait to ride it in August...and I also can't wait to try out the large wooden structure in the background.
spaceace12 Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Sweet stuff. Can't wait to ride it in August...and I also can't wait to try out the large wooden structure in the background. Raven or LEgend, because Voyage is steel structure..
MillenniumChild Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 I really have to get to HW this year but mainly for Raven & Legend but Pilgrims Plunge looks crazy. I'm almost a little scared to ride that but the fear is what makes it that much more intresting.
Raven Maven Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Will gets down on his knees to present a Geek's Tour (as opposed to a Koch's Tour - ha!) of the new boats on today's videos. Thanks, Paula
DBru Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 The boats (and restraints) look great! Those little 'rails' going down the center of the drop make a little more since to me now, as well.
triggernel Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Does anyone know how the lines usually are at Holiday World? And PP should reduce the lines for the other rides, right?
spaceace12 Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 What time of year and days? Weekdays in May/Early June, Late August and later. Very Min for most coasters (except Holidays). Weekends, can get long, depends. Late June, July, Early August Weekdays are busy, Weekends are usually insane. As for reducing lines for other rides, not neccesarily I would think. BTW, Water park is insane on weekends when hot. Like 45-an hour wait for most slides. I don't go to Hw during peak time.
thrillerman1 Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Is there going to be anything in the super long tunnel like sound-thunder, lightning effects, and waves, or will it just be the new makeout section of the park?
Raven Maven Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Actually, it was just decided yesterday to skip the tunnel for this year. You'll still be way down in a trough, but no roof overhead. And yes, the capacity of the ride is high enough that we expect it to shorten the other lines around the park. Thanks, Paula
coastered Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Actually, it was just decided yesterday to skip the tunnel for this year. You'll still be way down in a trough, but no roof overhead. Do you think if the tunnel is skipped for this year, will it be build for next year instead or are the plans for the tunnel completly scrapped.
Raven Maven Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 It's my understanding we aren't throwing away the plans. Thanks, Paula
DBru Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 A bit disappointing about the tunnel...that's definitely my favorite part of Frightful Falls. I guess the 135 foot elevator lift and drop will make up for that, though.
thrillerman1 Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Thanks for that little tidbit Paula, and without the tunnel I think it will build the anticipation (or terror) of ascending the tower even more as the boat floats closer and closer to it. It might actually be better without it.
spaceace12 Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Finally a bunch of details I been wait to see. From HW's facebook page. path from water park. For reference, this is normally the way the walk back of Voyage is and the exclusive shots only important peopkle used to get. walkway tunnel The walkway and path from the dry park You will get wet here I bet....not Dan friendly. This is where water canons where you shoot people will be. que building
DBru Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Wow, the area really looks great... I wonder if the park will add foliage to the Pilgrims Plunge area? Also, with the Splashin' Safari path running into the Holiday World path, how will the parks be separated?
DiSab Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 Since Splashin' Safari isn't a separately-charged park, my guess is that the path going under The Voyage will access a secondary gate to the water park.
Electerik Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 How much of a nerd does it make me that I'm almost more excited about the new path under Voyage than I am PP? /At last, a new place to take photos of Voyage!
Raven Maven Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 ...in a few minutes, actually. Shortly after 1 pm CDT today, the first boat will be lifted up the drop (about 1/3 of the way up) by crane for the first test. Testing will continue this afternoon and tomorrow morning. Our Pilgrims Plunge construction cam will provide a live view. Thanks, Paula
