LiftThrill
I wouldnt call sfgam a small park It's one of the lesser known parks. The only people I've meet who know about it are coaster enthusiasts and people who have it as their homepark/went there on vactation. Although it is around the size of SFFT (a few more "big" coasters) so you're definitely right that it isn't small, but I still think that it needs expansion more than GAdv does. neil009
And say what you will about Gradv having not added any major coasters since El Toro, but truth is they really haven't had the need for them. After adding Ka in 2005 they've pretty much had steady attendance numbers without much decline, and in fact 2013-2014 were the highest attendance figures since Ka's debut...without a major addition. At this point in time, Six Flags' flagship parks are all well-established and reached their potential growth peaks sometime in the 90's. There really isnt a need any longer to sink exorbitant amounts of money into expansions when the potential for substantial growth is no longer there. Wait wait wait. What are you talking about? They reached their potential growth peaks in the 90's? WTF does that even mean? You're telling me there's no longer any need for any major expansions? Why does any park ever need to expand? What are you even basing that on? I'm sure SF would love for SFGAdv to add major rides at the same rate as, say, Cedar Point, but they're broke as hell. That's the ONLY reason, as far as I'm aware, and everything else is bullshit. You're welcome to prove me wrong but I'd need something based in, you know, reality. People have every right to be disappointed in the addition of a 4D freespin clone. Yeah I'm sure it's going to be a great ride, yeah I'm glad they're getting anything as opposed to nothing, but you can't tell me I'm wrong to be disappointed, when we could just as easily be getting an RMC original or a B&M wing coaster (if it's as awesome as Thunderbird). When in the past you've been served prime rib, and years go by and now you're getting ground beef, obviously that's going to cause some level of grousing. It's just natural. If people are allowed to vent and move on then there's no problem, nothing to start a flame war over. This is what I don't get about this forum. Compare to other hobbies. If this was Star Wars we were talking about and we just came out of the premier of The Phantom Menace and I was complaining, would you seriously tell me "Just be glad you got anything at all"? Superbatboy
Wait wait wait. What are you talking about? They reached their potential growth peaks in the 90's? WTF does that even mean? You're telling me there's no longer any need for any major expansions? Why does any park ever need to expand? What are you even basing that on? Welp I'm basing it on the last 15 years or so of Six Flags' flagship parks such as Gradv and MM. Neither park saw the attendance numbers they had in the 90's despite adding huge attractions like X2, KK, Goliath, El Toro, Tatsu etc; If those rides couldn't help grow the parks attendance back to their peaks, what makes you think they'll continue to install costly attractions as such? There isn't this huge window that regional parks have of potential guests. Six Flags parks for the MOST part attract locals, moreso than even certain Cedar Fair parks. So you're asking me to prove you wrong, yet you're making a baseless statement yourself. Gradv is "broke", okay what the actual f**k? People have every right to be disappointed in the addition of a 4D freespin clone. People? Or YOU? To be 100% Gradv doesn't give a f*** about YOU. Their main concern is the GP who spend dollars in their park. The average Joe has not seen or ridden a 4d free spin, it's been getting great reviews at SFFT and that's more than likely why Gradv is moving forward with one. Not because YOU approve but you can't tell me I'm wrong to be disappointed, I can and WILL tell you that you're wrong. Like that commercial says "you're now free to fly about the country." If you don't like what Gradv is putting in, simply go to a park that has something that intrigues you. This is what I don't get about this forum. Compare to other hobbies. Gradv is "broke", okay what the actual f**k? It's a well-known fact that Six Flags as a whole is more or less broke, this has been the case for a long time, and they decide when SFGAdv gets major additions, not the park itself. That's not a baseless statement. Attendance records alone don't support the claim that SFGAdv shouldn't or won't continue to make major coaster additions when possible. Their aim is always going to be growing their attendance numbers, and how do you propose they do that outside of major additions? You expect a huge corporation like SF to throw up their hands and say "Welp, the park is as popular as it's ever gonna get, guess we'll just give up and install carnival rides from now on"? That doesn't make any sense. People have every right to be disappointed in the addition of a 4D freespin clone. People? Or YOU? To be 100% Gradv doesn't give a f*** about YOU. It doesn't effect you at all. Everyone has the right to their opinion, and this particular opinion has about ten years of history behind it. I'm not criticizing anyone else for being excited for the new ride, so why should I have to be criticized for being not-so-excited? but you can't tell me I'm wrong to be disappointed, I can and WILL tell you that you're wrong. neil009
^^I apologize if I came across as aggressive. Only the first two paragraphs of my original post was intended for you specifically, the rest was more a comment on the forum in general. Although, then in response you gave me a perfect example of the kind of attitude I was arguing against in the first place, so kudos for that. Manic Monte
^ Agreed. And I happen to think guests will be very excited with a S&S free spin. Especially if it's the larger version. Coaster Hero
Not surprised this spiraled out of control, it always seems to happen whenever one person brings up Six Flags state and whether one of their parks needs a new coaster or not. Seriously guys, engaging in a flame war won't make it any more likely that you're gonna get what you want. But I'm not a mod, so what do I know lol
CoasterB
I was reading and I saw that Magic mountain offers some single rider lines on a select few of their rides, I was wondering if this is the same with Great adventure? I'm there for the first time in 3 weeks, I'm just a bit worried about large crowds, I'd rather queue a single rider line before I buy a flash pass. thecoasterdude
^Great Adventure has Green Lantern and Zumi with single-rider. And the Flash Pass would be worth it if you were to go on a weekend. Rides like Toro, Ka, Superman, and Nitro tend to get quite long waits on crowded days. Bizarro isn't needed for the Flash Pass, it usually has very short waits. Green Lantern, and Batman usually don't have very long waits, but on really crowded days, they usually tend to get 30-45 min. Same with El Diablo, but it has longer lines more often, due to low capacity. So I would get the Flash Pass for one of those really hot and crowded Saturdays. Coaster Hero
They always block off GL's Single rider queue with a trash can though. You know, I don't wanna look like a d*uche by moving it out the way so I just wait. When it first opened it wasn't blocked off though
