Coaster Hero
Apparently, Nitro was also down today as well, in addition to Kingda Ka. That's two of their top three rides (Good thing El Toro was up) right there. I understand Ka being broken down, but Nitro has been unusually unreliable this season. (Especially close to opening day)
Genx24
I was at the park yesterday. Nitro was down when I first arrived around noon, but it was up and running by 3. Yesterday was an excellent day to visit; everything was a walk-on/station wait.
Nitro1118
Just got done with a quick trip to the park. Got the 2nd train out on Toro in the morning, front row, which was cool. Hopped on an empty row near the back without exiting the platform. Hit up Skull Mountain, Nitro and B:TR before leaving. All were walkons besides Nitro because they took about 15min transferring on the 3rd train/testing. KK was down still and I heard was expected to be down all day. YoshiFan
Superman is also closed with a crane near the lift motor. I just got to the park and it isn't that crowded, Nitro looks like it is just over a 10 minute wait. Edit - Superman opened at around 4 with 1 train and Kingda Ka ran an empty train at around 5:30. strz
My sone told me that the park was "dead" today (Wednesday, June 3rd)......great time of year to hit the park, if you can! Especially after 3pm, as any school buses are gone.
YoshiFan
Yeah today was a great day to be at the park. If Kingda Ka had been open and Superman had been open more of the day I think lines would have been even shorter the entire day. There were some points where the coasters did get some lines, El Toro had the 1st set of switchbacks full and Zumanjaro was about 30 minutes in the afternoon but overall, most lines were 10 minutes or less. Tomorrow and Friday should be more crowded. Tomorrow is Student Council Day which means a few thousand extra kids on class trips and Friday is Grad Nite, where normally the school trips leave in the afternoon but all the senior trips part of the event will be staying until closing (and past closing for their event). gp1086
Jealous of you guys who are able to visit during weekdays. I'll probably wind up waiting until Fright Fest this year and hang in these crowds again.
Coaster Hero
^That looks absolutely brutal. I would just leave, there's no way to get in any rides with those crowds!
LiftThrill
I'm just going to make a mental note to hit GAdv on a weekday when I end up going there.
boldikus
^ Good idea. But make no mistake this park can usually be done with a gold FP when crowded (not counting Fright Fest). If it's your one and only visit, I would keep that in mind.
Vigil
So I feel like those pictures kind of answer my question, but maybe not... My family is going to a wedding in New York tomorrow (having driven from Virginia) and because my sister's birthday is on Sunday when we are driving back, my mom was thinking of surprising her by going to Great Adventure. As much as I want to go, I'm not quite sure it would be worth it. We have to be back that night so we wouldn't have a lot of time, maybe 12-6 (I would try to negotiate up, we have two cars so maybe some of us could go longer...kind of irrelevant at this point). Would the ticket money and time be worth going? Or should we just wait and go later this summer, which is also an option. (My family is all from New York, and I'm still surprised we've never been.) Yeah - I was there for about 9 hours that day and only got on 3 rides. Waited 20 minutes in line at the Johnny Rockets near Nitro for chicken tenders. Was cool to visit in the sense of how alive the park was, but miserable from a ride perspective. Pretty sure the park was at capacity. It's usually more crowded (sometimes significantly) on Fright Fest, especially on a Saturday in October (when the pictures I posted were from). Think the fact that NJ/NY/PA high schools are still in session may be helpful for crowds as well. Think you might be able to swing 4 roller coasters or so in a six-hour span if you factor in walking and whatnot. Curious as to others' opinions. YoshiFan
It will likely be crowded. Its still bring a friend free for pass holders, there is a charity walk and a couple of magic shows. As for Fright Fest, I only will go to the park on Friday nights or Columbus Day. Friday nights generally have low crowds (the first one last year was an exception), even Halloween which I thought would be crowded was 5 to 10 minute waits all night. This year Halloween is on a Saturday so I expect it to be much more crowded than last year. Edited June 6, 2015 by YoshiFan

Sundays tend to be the less crowded day on weekends but let's take some things into account. Looking at the website there are a few events: Walk with Ronald McDonald® featuring special guests Nick Tangorra Band and Collins Key Magician Also, Sundays up until Fathers Day are BAFF days for passholders. As far as weather, Saturday has a 40% chance of rain while Sunday is looking gorgeous. I don't know much about either of those events so I can't help you anticipate the additional crowds they will bring but if you add all this together you are looking at a likely crowded park on Sunday. I attempted the park a Sunday last May while two events were going on and we didn't get flash passes and gave up around 3pm. All the big dogs had 1-2 hour lines. Now with a gold flash pass, you may be OK. Platinum you can do whatever you want. edit: what Yoshi said ^
Coaster Hero
In 6 hours you can get in all the major coasters for sure if it's what I like to call an ERT day (when it's practically empty with walk-ons everywhere). Moderately crowded days are possible, but you may want to get a flashpass if you wanna get on everything. If it's crowded, forget it haha. Even staying for many hours won't make a difference if it's packed
Vigil
Thanks for the advice. I also just realized that we could also do Dorney Park. Both are equidistant from where the wedding is (and also on the way back by 81), and it seems like a much more manageable park with a chance to not be as crowded (I've heard Dorney never really gets to bad. Not to mention it's cheaper. I suppose I should ask in that thread, but does that sound like a good idea?

Texascoaster89
Hey everyone! I'll be flying in from Texas to visit for the first time on June 18th, a Thursday. I was wondering what to expect with crowds? I'll be in a party of 4, I'm the coaster enthusiast by far of the bunch...Thanks for any advice/tips! A full queue for Toro is usually less than an hour, Nitro's line moves fast and is usually under 45min, Bizarro is almost always under 15min, B:TR is rarely over 30min, and GL's single rider queue can turn a 45min wait into a 15min wait. S:UF can get very long, and KK is very finnicky, but otherwise you can definitely get a lap on all the other coasters from 12-6. However, if you want to get on EVERYTHING with some rerides, Dorney is the much better option. But...Dorney doesn't have El Toro

I'll be in a party of 4, I'm the coaster enthusiast by far of the bunch...Thanks for any advice/tips! By the 18th, schools are usually out unfortunately. If you want to beat the crowds I suggest going early or even at opening. The lines are usually short until an hour or more after opening. Since it is a weekday, it probably wont be packed but because it's summer vacations crowds may be moderate. If it it packed, you should consider the flashpass otherwise you'll only get a few rides in. The worst crowds are usually around 1PM to 4PM from my experience. A word of advice, never, ever start at the front by Superman or Green Lantern because they are close to the entrance so most will head over there. If you do end up going to SFGA, you can buy a Thrill Pass online for the same prices as the gate admissions prices ($67.99 + tax) - you'll get your card at the front gate and be done, and you can use up until 9/13 if you do make another trip this summer.
