njcoasterguy34
^ You do realize that you're discussing a park that for 30+ years had an attraction where animals would literally eat and/or defecate on your car, right? lol Don't forget copulate. lol My parents always tell me about the time they drove through the Safari and had a couple baboons copulating on the roof of their car. ejot
I really like this idea the best. and at $20 to park my car, I don't understand why they can't help us out by keeping out cars cool! $25 this year for the asphalt boulder field.
woolandmammoth
Ill put my money on this never happening. The company doing this can: A: Spend tons of time and money fighting the state and enviornmental groups while generating as much negative press as possible for six flags and themselves B: Buy out some farm elsewhere in the area and put down a solar field with little complication. Typically, the path of least resistance is the path taken. I would like to see Great Adventure be able to cut down power consumption, but ecosystems are important. A tree here and there never hurt anybody, but 18,000 trees will leave an impact that will never heal.

gp1086
Apologies if this has been covered already, but see the park has posted hours for Holiday in the Park and looks like Thanksgiving time is covered too! 1:00 pm. - 9:00 p.m. on most weekends (and then some around holidays). What is minimum temperature / wind chill you'd visit the park?
coasterbill
What is minimum temperature / wind chill you'd visit the park? That depends on the minimum temperature / wild chill they'd run Batman and Nitro during Holiday in the Park.
Vonni
Is there any changes in the areas where the markings are? I haven't seen anything mentioned in a while so I'm just curious.
Nitro1118
^Not much has changed. They started doing soil test drilling next to Fort Independence, but that's been it the last couple of weeks.
boldikus
Those pesky Intamin cables strike again! Looks like KK is down. Website says its "Temporarily Closed" and folks on the SFGAdv Connoisseurs FB page noted there is a tarp over the track and were told the cable snapped. Coaster Hero
^I feel really lucky right now that I got one of the last rides of the day the night before it broke down. Clutch! I hope it's not down for too long, but whenever KK needs parts from Intamin it always takes a while. I expect it to be down for a month before opening again. Lightnin Loops
why would the cable snap this early in the season? don't they start every season with a new cable?
boldikus
Good time to ride Zumanjaro This was my very first thought. The dude who posted about it said he rode Zumanjaro 30 times today without getting out of his seat. IMO its a much better ride than KK, anyway. DJeXeL
The cable did not snap according to a maintenance supervisor that is on the SFGAdv Connoisseur FB page.
boldikus
^ Also just saw that. Regardless, has to be something serious if the park updated their website to say it was closed.
DJeXeL
They are saying planned maintenance but I don't buy it. You don't have 1 of your star attractions closed 2 months into the season unless something fails.

How long does it usually take them to have it running after something like this? I missed Ka due to the construction of Zumanjaro last year. I'd hate for it to be down this year too during my visit. boldikus
^ Not a chance! It's quickly become one of my favorite rides in the park (huge for someone who hated drop towers before I rode it). I actually kinda know dude and he rode it 100 times in one day last year, no joke.
B&MIntaminGCI
I have a basically useless season pass for this season. I've luckily been there 3 times and got on everything, but now that I've broken up with my partner (his choice), I basically have no way to go, as we'd go together. It sucks, but maybe I'll still figure out a way to go. I hope KK is up and running as fast as possible regardless. I got on it in April when we first went, it was rough, but still fun.
