Six Flags Great Adventure (SFGAdv) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

^ You have to remember that they also needed to expand the building to the left down in SFOT; both at this point are too small. The Right Stuff building would just have us maybe lose the go-karts, whereas the old Chiller building would have to practically double in size.

Not saying it's impossible, I just don't see Six Flags making more of an investment into the potential attraction than they'd have to simply due to location within the park. Especially when it would involve pretty much reopening the whole Old Country area.

I guess I just look at it as them not wanting to get rid of the Go Karts... there always seems to be people over there, so taking a building that has been dormant for MANY years and revitalizing that area of the park would allow for great expansion... also (and I feel like we have all been saying this now for YEARS) the west side of the park REALLY needs some love and affection...

You know what's weird? A few years ago I was riding it and thought I heard a new trim in that exact spot but we were a few rows back so I couldn't see anything. I was incredibly sure it was there though.

When we got off the ride I looked and didn't see one anywhere but the last few years when it rolls over that section I would swear it sounded like there was a trim but there wasn't (it's a pretty distinct sound too).

I always hesitated to bring that up though because if I posted about the way trim breaks sounded I would have to re-evaluate my life and stop being such an unbelievably nerd. So I'm going to go do some soul searching now... be back in a bit. lol

Im searching Youtube for recent POVs and while I cant find any from 2015, the few from 2014 I can't see any trim there.

The zero-g is the best part of the ride, no need to slow down there lol

There's nothing wrong with this; we all have this problem. how much money have we spent for amusement parks? But a roller coaster is like a true friend: it would never do anything to hurt you.

Well, maybe except GASM and RT... and Viper... yeah

You're forgetting GL and the back rows on KK

El Toro is down, as they're going to perform major maintenance on the ride and there are huge crane parts at El Toro. Right now the upper cable lift pulley is being replaced. Also, I've also heard from multiple people that Bizarro has had a trim added after the dive loop (come on B&M, super lame )

Hmmmm. Just confirmed my buddy rode it 10 times today. Park was dead he said.

I recently visited the park last week, and as I was waiting on line, we saw two trains running, but one train had nobody on. This was the Kia Soul train. 2 runs after this, the same empty train stalled, right out of the station. It was there for about 20 minutes, then pulling it back, and Toro ran 1 train for the rest of the day.

Park was completely dead today. Went for opening, got on everything. Nitro back row walk on, three in a row, El Toro back row twice, Skull Mountain, Batman, Dark Knight all dead.

Waited 20 min for Ka and 10 min for Zumanjaro, everything else was walk on. Banged out the whole park before 3pm. Was perfect day. Few buses of kids but not much.

^ I know a guy who knows a guy... Seriously though, someone just saw some construction/maintenance being done on El Toro at the park yesterday. Not sure how long or if it will be down, or when this will be done. Note these photos are not mine.

Replacement pulley for the top of the cable lift

Looks to be components for a crane of some sort

Went to the park today as well with a friend of mine and El Toro was open even though the crane was still parked near the first drop. Just a few basic notes:

-Nitro's crew was really slow and the team lead seemed like she had no motivation for any of her employees or for the riders. Managed to stack all three trains on each cycle until they decided to take one of them off.

-Speaking of Nitro, rode the first row of train C and had a smooth ride, but re-rode again in row five on the same train and had one of the roughest rides I have ever had on it. Luckily that was the train they took off, but I rode one more time on train B in the back and had a slightly rough ride.

-The longest wait of the day was Green Lantern at about 15 minutes around 12pm followed by Ka with a 10 minute wait. The rest of the rides were either a walk-on or one train wait.

-El Diablo was a fun ride that seems like it would be a great family attraction, but it is not as intense as the carnival models. Even so, I think I like it better considering how permanent it looks, there is no roof on the cars, and the restraint is a little more secure. Walked right on to it with no wait for it.

Nothing new over by Chiller's old station other than the fences through the Old Country part of the park (which were closed).

These guys were all over the place blocking paths and almost entered the line in front of us for Dark Knight.

They weren't running many gondolas on the Skyride so this was a common sight.

Hey if you guys are in the mood to get clocked in the head repeatedly for two hours, the park is having ERT on Green Lantern (and Superman) on Sunday June 14th 8-10pm.

Superman is relatively smooth, Green Latern might need the Mantis treatment even though it really isn't that bad, lol. Could be worse.... Shockwave, Kings Dominion. lol

Yeah I was referring to GL.

I love Superman. It's short, but the pretzel loop is one of the best elements on anything at the park.
