GayCoasterGuy
It's a shame that such a unique looking building had to be torn down. Agreed! Random weird stuff placed in random spots = charm. I wonder if it was just 'old' and was no longer functional? Suddenly thinks of Big Bad Wolf and Wildcat... guess I shouldn't bring up those arguments Sometimes we get progress, sometimes we get restoration - it balances out. COASTER FREAK 11
So I thought I was caught up on this thread but apparently I missed something. Why was the wagon torn down? Edited January 23, 2013 by COASTER FREAK

This place lost its charm a long long time ago.

COASTER FREAK 11
Why was the wagon torn down? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yj2tNbhS_ko LOL, I see. Any other reasons besides not being able to forge a river?
netdvn
Its being used as an entrance to the new Safari. Speaking of new Safari, the plans for the big pit stop have been revealed. It looks pretty cool.
Ccron10
So this is going to be built somewhere in the safari and isn't going to be the main entrance? If so, then that explains the lack of an entrance and sounds like a cool concept. The loading/unloading area seems odd as it looks like there's a path that goes in front of the station. If so, then I could see some careless guest not watching what they're doing and getting hit by a vehicle. EDIT: I'm wondering if that red line could be the zipline? 3Mutts
^ I think there will be a bridge over the road. So I'm assuming they are moving Safari Kids here? Looks really nice, I hope it is somewhat themed.
medusa99
The red line is the zipline. There will be no bridge over the road however the road will go though the lion area by going over a bridge. I do not expect a lot from this area as far as themeing especially after seeing that the whole area is going to be fine crushed stone instead of concrete or asphalt, but only time will tell for what it is i think it will look good i just hope they do a lot of work around the safari its had been looking really poor for a while now. Athletekim
The only reason why I will miss the Wagon was because we always used it as our spot to meet up with everyone. I'm looking forward for the Giraffe Feeding area. I can actually see this area having some nice themeing but we will have to wait and see.

3Mutts
^ Spring Break or if you can, any weekend in September before Fright Fest starts, that is the most dead I've ever seen the park.
larrygator
For all you NJ people,When would be the best time of year to plan a trip to the park? Like a month, a certain week, ect. Any Sunday in April.
Brassinthegrass
I prefer a Sunday in Late April, Early May. Everything seems to be up and running by then (minus the water rides, which I never go on anyway). Lines are pretty short. Just keep an eye on their events calendar as HS Music trips and other things of that nature sometimes flood the parks (if that happens and you have no choice, just go early and plan to stay late, as that is when the park is at its quietest!) Coaster_Fanatic
For all you NJ people,When would be the best time of year to plan a trip to the park? Like a month, a certain week, ect. (From my past experiences at the park), Weekdays in August are reasonable. There is usually only a larger line for El Toro which is around 30-45 minutes, everything else may be around 15-20 minutes, or less.
golfburner1
Well last year July 4th was very quiet at great adventure. If you get to the park in the morning you can hit every ride front row without a wait.
RideofSteel
But last year was especially hot on the Fourth of July...And the park did get pretty busy in the evening.

deathbydinn
Thought this was pretty interesting, since I've often heard that Great Adventure needs more flats. It's crazy that they lost half of their flat rides in 8 years, I guess they didn't make the best choices in flat rides for their whole "war on lines" idea. Graph from Great Adventure History. PhantomNick
Those lights on their star flyer look pretty awesome! Very bright and colorful. The graph was also pretty telling in showing the decline in flats at the park. I loved the place when we last visited, but my wife and I agreed the park could use some more balance in their ride selection. Hopefully the upward trend the last couple years is a sign of things to come.
