theonetheonlyJT
Does anyone else feel that Green lantern is really ugly? The yellow loop, the lift out in the middle of the parking lot. It just looks like its piled right on top of/in front of the rest of the park behind, and is trying to be center stage but failing miserably.. I personal don't think it looks ugly and at least it has themeing (but that is my opinion).
garbanian
I took my first trip to SFGAdv this past Saturday. Whoever said it was supposed to rain when they went and it ended up being blue skies, the same thing happened to me. I'm not good for full review type things, so I'll just ask a few questions, and state some things. The lines in general were very very short for a Saturday...85 degrees I believe How in the world did I get on Kingda Ka in less than 10 minutes, middle of the day, front row....makes NO sense. El Toro was about the best thing I've ever been on....seriously. I can't say I've ever ducked on a ride, but some of the ride really had me thinking my limbs were about to be dismantled. I'm also happy to report that I fit on with no trouble, the was one of the things I was expecting to happen...not get on the ride, or have to have the staff really shove me in. Neither happened. Woooo weightloss! I enjoyed every ride there, and truely did like Bizarro. I'm not sure why people aren't fond of it. I had a blast on it. Nitro wasNitro was probably my 2nd favorite ride there (After El Toro) I was expecting it to be one of the rougher airtime rides, like Magnum at CP, but it was real smooth, and not rough at all. The airtime was fun, the length of the ride was perfect an the night ride was a blast. TBatman The Ride I was thinking of being a Raptor clone (CP again), but was actually a lot rougher, seemed faster and I had a lot more fun on that then I had on Raptor. Skull Mountain made me wish there were more indoor rides. I like the pitch black rides way too much and had so much fun on this ride. Superman was a pretty neat gimmick, but thats all I thought of it, a gimmick. The entire ride was really just that one loop that sends you on your back. Nothing too it, a nice breeze. Green lantern wasn't bad, I liked a lot of it, but it seemed a bit rough, nothing out of the ordinary. I've probably forgotten some, but thats what stood out today for me. I'd love to visit again just for El Toro. That ride was amazing!!!
texcoaster
I went last year for the first time in ages and I agree, El Toro is unbelievable. It actually upset Voyage as my #1 coaster for almost a month, then I went back to HW and rode Voyage again and that was that. They're both incredible rides, but for very different reasons. The things I like about Voyage are just higher on my priority list of "what makes a good coaster" than the things I like about El Toro. Your enthusiasm may vary. Chroniq
I'd be curious as to see what their 10 year plan looks like. Are they going to keep mashing coasters together? IE, Superman, Green lantern, El Toro, Kingda Ka....or are they going to re-develop some land and put some thought into further expansion. I can tell you with 100 percent certainty, their 2 year plan involves attractions that the entire family can enjoy (which is exactly what the park needs)... 10 year plan? C'mon, it's six flags. Medusa was one of my favorites when I was younger and I always thought it was a good ride--its location kills ridership. Nitro and El Toro are two of my favorite coasters in general, and I'm glad I'm not alone in thinking Superman was completely boring outside of that one element. I'm glad to hear that. I still remember in 2009 my sister and I were stopped outside the main gates to take a survey and asked if we thought the park should focus on kiddie rides or thrill rides. We said neither and that we wanted more family rides. The survey person said that wasn't an option. The additions this year were great with some much needed family rides (the bumper cars had almost a full queue yesterday), and I can't wait to see what is going to be next. UrbanLegend
Whew! 2013 - New Entertainment / Safari Update / Waterslide - Rumor - (8/23/12) Ignore the rumors and the wild speculation... I’ve searched high and low for details on this summer long endless rumor that Bizarro may be leaving the park this winter. Bizarro will return to thrill riders in 2013. I’ve searched high and low for details on this summer long endless rumor that Bizarro may be leaving the park this winter. Bizarro will return to thrill riders in 2013. Normally Screamscape is pretty accurate but it sounds like that "breaking news story" was pulled out of thin air just as much as the story about it being removed in the first place. If I'm reading that correctly, he searched high and low for details and didn't find any... which doesn't mean it's not happening. It doesn't mean it is, but it doesn't mean it's not either. Personally I don't believe the ride is going anywhere, but I don't think the lack of details confirms or denies anything.
UrbanLegend
Does anyone know if the Flash Pass booth opens later than the park does, or does it open with the park gates? Plus is it even worth getting the Flash Pass if I'm going this Sunday?
xmichellex
The FP booth usually opens with the park. You may have to wait a few minutes, but it really doesn't take up too much time.
schotj
10 year plan? C'mon, it's six flags. All companies worth their weight have some sort of plan for the future. You go to a park like Busch, or Dollywood, and the experience is so much different. I'd really like to see some significant changes in the next few years. texcoaster
Yes, but SF isn't trying to be Dollywood or Busch. Neither is Busch trying to be Dollywood and none of the above are trying to be Disney. If there were any two chains that were truly in the same market for customers, I'd go with SF and Cedar Fair. And while CF generally runs their parks a bit better (IMHO), I think their target market is similar - namely thrillseekers and younger adults. Yes, there are some childrens' areas in the parks, but they're really separated into the main park and the kiddieland. Dollywood, Busch, and especially Disney try to spread out their family-friendly experiences all over the parks and cater more towards families than thrill-seekers. Yes, they have thrill rides too, but they don't seem to be the main focus. I'd bet that even if Dollywood had twice the budget and tons of expansion room, they'd not put 16 coasters in that park. I bet you WOULD see a boatload of flats, interactive rides, water rides, and other stuff (like shows), though.

UrbanLegend
Just got back from a day at the park. Sky Screamer was lots of fun, but made me dizzy . Still offered some great views, which I couldn't really get otherwise because the Skyride was broken down. Also, late in the day, particles of... stuff were flying off of El Toro at the tops of the hills. I noticed this happened during last year's Fright Fest too. Does anyone know what this is? Plus, I decided to check out the area of Movie Town past Dark Knight, and there was nothing whatsoever. A security guard stopping us from going any further, and a wooden gate. I thought that part of the park looped back around, or has it always been a dead end? I also wondered what they were up to behind that gate. Fright Fest things? If Great Adventure decides to add some new major rides or coasters, they should seriously consider breathing life back into Movie Town. What's stopping them from doing so? coasterbill
Still offered some great views, which I couldn't really get otherwise because the Skyride was broken down. I wonder what's wrong with it. We went yesterday and in the morning they had a few cars on the cable but they were going painfully slow (almost like they were using the backup motor). Once they got all the cars off it was down for the rest of the day and we saw people grinding away at something in the drive station (dream street station) and sending sparks everywhere. I think whatever happened may take awhile to fix (just based off of the fact that they were climbing all over the drive shaft). Maybe they can run the side closest to the front gate but it's been down every time we went this year so maybe there's something wrong with that side also. Great Adventure isn't my home park, but to my knowledge that area of the park was called "The Old Country" and was shuttered after Chiller left in 2007. The park did used to loop around to the ferris wheel area. The old bumper cars and another ride or two are still back there. I noticed Movie Town was really sparse when I went in 2011 as well. There's absolutely nothing left except the two Batman coasters.

Maybe what you saw fly off is what I heard. El toro started to make weird sounds Saturday as well. More noticeable after it had broken down. Maintenance was also sticking around quite a while after it back up as well. Also some guy lost his wallet too. Dollar bills were flying, lol. Nitro1118
If Great Adventure decides to add some new major rides or coasters, they should seriously consider breathing life back into Movie Town. What's stopping them from doing so? It's crazy, because just 10 years ago Movietown was THE corner of the park to be in. Nitro, Chiller, Batman, Freefall, MTWF...it was where all the major thrills were, besides Medusa. Then, they added S:UF which brought a lot of attention to the Boardwalk, Toro and KK brought attention to the Rolling Thunder area, and Green Lantern brought even more people to the Boardwalk. With 3 of those 5 rides I mentioned in Movietown being removed, and a huge section being cutoff, it's really sad to see that area in the state it is now. Chiller actually occupied a pretty big footprint, and I'm sure they could make something extend to where Freefall was as well. That area could use a new major thrill ride and retheming/major rennovation.
SharkTums
That Movietown area is downright creepy now. When you have a group event/picnic you have to go past random walls and into these employee only areas and it just seems like a completely dead park. I can't believe that's very good for their group sales/catering business. That area really needs to be opened up again and some rides/attractions put in. It just doesn't fit with the great direction the rest of the park is going to leave it like that.

tk2012x
I couldn't agree about movietown, that whole entire section is a ghost town. Its a ideal location for a new coaster, drop tower and some flats. Preferably flats.
chickenbowl
Yeah, both times I've been to the park, it's really bizarre back there. Like once you walk past Dark Knight, there's absolutely nothing. There's an (to my knowledge) un-used theater and some random buildings. I feel like that area as a whole could be the next section for expansion. But right now, it's just vacant.
larrygator
This is probably me being stupid, but how did this whole "Bizarro is getting relocated" rumor ever come about? It seems a bit ridiculous, considering that Bizarro is still pretty popular. Unfortunately it's really not all that popular. We've visited the park twice this year (both on weekends) and the ride had a station wait both days while rides like Kingda Ka and El Toro had hour waits. Well it was popular yesterday Monday, August 27. At 8PM (with the park closing at 9PM) it was a 30 minute wait. In that 30 minutes I got a ride on Nitro and two on El Toro. Every time I've been to the park this year (10-12 times) if the other major coaster have a 30 minute wait or longer the Bizarro line was at least half way down the stairs. It's been what, like 5 years that that section of the park has been quarantined off from the rest of everything? Either they have something major in the works for that area, or they just don't have the capital to reignite the flame for movie town/old country. Why leave such a high trafficked area blocked off? It hurts the flow of traffic, and is a complete eye-sore. It's not even like that area is in a back corner of the park. If it was opened again it would see a lot people.
