sspaz1000
Just got back from a day at the park. Sky Screamer was lots of fun, but made me dizzy :/. Still offered some great views, which I couldn't really get otherwise because the Skyride was broken down. Also, late in the day, particles of... stuff were flying off of El Toro at the tops of the hills. I noticed this happened during last year's Fright Fest too. Does anyone know what this is. Plus, I decided to check out the area of Movie Town past Dark Knight, and there was nothing whatsoever. A security guard stopping us from going any further, and a wooden gate. I thought that part of the park looped back around, or has it always been a dead end? I also wondered what they were up to behind that gate. Fright Fest things? If Great Adventure decides to add some new major rides or coasters, they should seriously consider breathing life back into Movie Town. What's stopping them from doing so? Maybe what you saw fly off is what I heard. El toro started to make weird sounds Saturday as well. More noticeable after it had broken down. Maintenance was also sticking around quite a while after it back up as well. Also some guy lost his wallet too. Dollar bills were flying, lol. Nitro1118
If Great Adventure decides to add some new major rides or coasters, they should seriously consider breathing life back into Movie Town. What's stopping them from doing so? It's crazy, because just 10 years ago Movietown was THE corner of the park to be in. Nitro, Chiller, Batman, Freefall, MTWF...it was where all the major thrills were, besides Medusa. Then, they added S:UF which brought a lot of attention to the Boardwalk, Toro and KK brought attention to the Rolling Thunder area, and Green Lantern brought even more people to the Boardwalk. With 3 of those 5 rides I mentioned in Movietown being removed, and a huge section being cutoff, it's really sad to see that area in the state it is now. Chiller actually occupied a pretty big footprint, and I'm sure they could make something extend to where Freefall was as well. That area could use a new major thrill ride and retheming/major rennovation.
SharkTums
That Movietown area is downright creepy now. When you have a group event/picnic you have to go past random walls and into these employee only areas and it just seems like a completely dead park. I can't believe that's very good for their group sales/catering business. That area really needs to be opened up again and some rides/attractions put in. It just doesn't fit with the great direction the rest of the park is going to leave it like that.

tk2012x
I couldn't agree about movietown, that whole entire section is a ghost town. Its a ideal location for a new coaster, drop tower and some flats. Preferably flats.
chickenbowl
Yeah, both times I've been to the park, it's really bizarre back there. Like once you walk past Dark Knight, there's absolutely nothing. There's an (to my knowledge) un-used theater and some random buildings. I feel like that area as a whole could be the next section for expansion. But right now, it's just vacant.
larrygator
This is probably me being stupid, but how did this whole "Bizarro is getting relocated" rumor ever come about? It seems a bit ridiculous, considering that Bizarro is still pretty popular. Unfortunately it's really not all that popular. We've visited the park twice this year (both on weekends) and the ride had a station wait both days while rides like Kingda Ka and El Toro had hour waits. Well it was popular yesterday Monday, August 27. At 8PM (with the park closing at 9PM) it was a 30 minute wait. In that 30 minutes I got a ride on Nitro and two on El Toro. Every time I've been to the park this year (10-12 times) if the other major coaster have a 30 minute wait or longer the Bizarro line was at least half way down the stairs. Its a ideal location for a new coaster, drop tower and some flats. Preferably flats. It even makes me wonder why they've left it dead like that for so long. It's been what, like 5 years that that section of the park has been quarantined off from the rest of everything? Either they have something major in the works for that area, or they just don't have the capital to reignite the flame for movie town/old country. Why leave such a high trafficked area blocked off? It hurts the flow of traffic, and is a complete eye-sore. It's not even like that area is in a back corner of the park. If it was opened again it would see a lot people. I think it's safe to say that everyone agrees this section is Way overdue for a makeover. Its sad to know the old musik express ride was stripped of its cars and the buildings Are rotting away, good old Shapiro era. Over on gadv.com there saying a flat package might come with entertainment along the safari and a new slide for the waterpark. I really hope all is true that alone would dramatically improve the park.
netdvn
But the park just got a new water slide, flat ride package, and a new coaster last year. I'd wait at least one more year before considering another flat ride package. I can see SF investing some more money in the water park though. Especially after other SF parks received multiple water slide expansions.
schotj
I think a baller water park would be a great way to get GADV more publicity. I know the theme park has a bunch of space to expand...but I'm not sure about the water park. Is the space limited by the theme park or the safari? I don't know. Also the fact that it's separate admission means that GADV should at least make it worth the money. Is Holiday World's water park separate admission from the theme park? They have two kick ass water coasters there....GADV should invest in one, and a sweet unique slide complex.

My thoughts Big - Dippin Dots Cart Bigger - Dippin Dots Stand Biggest - Dippin Dots Store Biggest might have something to do with the safari because that's a fairly large chunk of land they would be dealing with Bigger/Big - opening back up the movie town/old country section with a roller coaster and a few flats all of that would be ideal...but it's doubtful that it would all happen in one season

schotj
Check. Forgot about that. I think this is a little different though. Both of these investments would be well over 20 million dollar each.
