Six Flags Great America (SFGAm) Discussion Thread

p. 513 - Wrath of Rakshasa dive coaster announced for 2025!

^^ Eagle blue is fine as it is, but it's still a hell of a lot better backwards. Batman forwards is great as the best 20 years have proven, but what's so bad about trying something new?

Midwest trip participants might not want to get too excited yet. Sounds like it might not be backwards all season.

Great Ohio Coaster Club The limited time is specifically not being released yet. It will begin when the season starts and will be at least a few weeks.

I don't know how I feel about this, on one had it could be even more intense but on the other it could become less comfortable. I still hope they don't do this with all the B:TRs until they see how this one pans out.

What.

I mean I know SF was looking into this, but it's neat that they're actually doing it. Hopefully it lasts until I get a chance to ride it (and if they already know the end date, they hurry up and warn us soon).

I guess it's best that they're switching the entire train, lest the station become an awkward and confusing cluster.

With all of the "B&M would never let a park convert their stand-up into a floorless" talk we've all heard over and over around here, I'm surprised B&M is okay with this, as it seems to fall within the same realm.

I've never really bought into that rumor because at the end of the day, once a park owns a ride, it isn't in the control of the ride manufacturer how the park chooses to operate, maintain or modify the ride, unless they have some sort of specific contract for those kind of things, which I believe Six Flags handles totally in-house. I'd imagine Six Flags consulted B&M on this conversion, but I can't find any reason to believe that they would need their approval to be able to move forward with this kind of project.

^That's how I felt about Mr. Freeze, but Reverse Blast ended up being pretty awesome!

I thought Reverse Blast took what was my favorite part of the ride (shooting up the vertical spike and falling back) and turned it into a mundane stretch of track. Took the oomph out of a launch which didn't have much to begin with as well.

American Eagle is a perfect example. PTC has stated they do not support their current trains to be run backwards, but SFGAm has done it several times.

I believe B&M has exactly that contract with every ride they make. They supply life-time warranties with every coaster, only if the park operates it as B&M specifies. Otherwise they lose that warranty. I bet B&M has been highly involved if this is actually to become a reality.

And in regards to the Stand-up/floorless discussion, it's probably a lot easier to just turn a train around and switch the lift/anti-rollback dogs around than it would be to completely modify a station and track structure to accommodate floorless trains. Just my opinion.

Since I discovered this, I have never been so excited to visit a Six Flags park, let alone ride a Batman clone!

Even though I did really enjoy Reverse Blast, I agree with you completely.

Still not sure how I feel about the backwards Batman thing, though...
