Guy T. Koepp
I love the Hard Rock branding. I have been to several dozen here in the US. I can easily walk around each one for quite some time checking out all the R'n R' memorabilia. With that said, I certainly hope they bring the same kind of charm to the park. I say this because as far as rides go, this place really does nothing for me. The Vekoma mine train is a plug-n-play, as is the roller skater. Led Zeppelin is just another B&M sit down looping coaster. Nothing impressive there. Honestly, I'm not necessarily a lift enthusiast so I couldn't give two shakes about the ferris wheel lift on Max RPM. I think, and hope, that this parks excellence will be in it's live shows, memoribila, and hopefully food. With that said, I will probably go this summer to check it out. I certainly hope it holds up to the quality of the restaurants as well as the Hotel and Casino. I hate to be a downer, but this park doesn't scream thrills to me. I have to believe that their quality will come in the overall experience. Not the coasters. Anyway, just my two cents. Guy "I'm not bashing, I'm just unimpressed so far." CoasterLuv
I'm shocked at how much this park looks like IOA. The structure is amazingly similar. I'm quite excited to see how everything turns out. hmmmmm, I don't see the similarities at all The lagoon, the Hulk like coaster, the Gibson/Lighthouse, the archways, it gives me a very IOA feel personally. I could be crazy too. Yes, Yes, I agree, I've been keeping major tabs on the park since it will be one of my home parks, And that is the 1st thing that came to mind since they only had artist renderings of the park. I believe they had IOA in mind while designing the aspects of the park, especially when they stated "believes that myrtle beach is the next orlando"
CoasterLuv
Led Zeppelin looks amazing! One question comes to mind when I see the ferris wheel lift. Why? Could it be for the same reason that Mack has build rides with the elevator lift system? To help conserve space in parks that might not have it? Maximum RPM seems to be a very compact ride. Perhaps this was just Premiere's answer to an elevator lift where the current Mack version can only have 2 ride vehicles on it at one time and this iteration can house 4. How's that for a fairly logical explanation? --Robb Well actually, it's more like 3. One would be empty because the train would have been released while it was at the peak. But still... it's a whole nother train which still picks up capacity. I don't think it was for space saving or capacity, because they could have used an elevator lift which would most likely run faster than a ferris wheel lift. the FW lift is probably going to take longer to release the cars, as the track on the FW lift seems it would be slower at aligning properly with the track of the coaster structure (winds, balance) all that stuff. I think it was just more of a "We have the 1st ever...." gimmick/ Just as an oddity. besides the Ferris wheel lift the rest of the coaster looks pretty blah. Like all of the coasters besides LZ in the park its mostly just banked diving curves and a few helixes back to back. Instead of spending money for a new Innovative small ride, I would've been happy for a traditional medium to large more dynamic coaster. (I sure a 97 degree Towering Coaster wouldve have cost near the same) LOL.

Koepp I agree, here, don't go here as a coaster enthusiast, go here as a park enthusiast. The B&M supposedly Jewl of the park is so basic it ridiculous. Everything is lined up in a perfect line. They might has well just had an out and back woodie to fit in the same footprint that would have probably been better and cheaper. Not to mention the toy train coasters, as i like to call em. Already sitting on the shelves, piece em together, plug em in, and your ready to role. lol. I like your name for them better so im gonna start using it.... plug and play. lol. But on a good note, the Interative water fountain, hidden special effect mirrors in the bathrooms, music theming and the dark ride is what is going to draw me to this park. I always dreamed of a park themed of music, each area being a different genre of music. This is as close as it is gonna get to that so, i'm going to enjoy the Hard Rock theme and not expect much of the rides. After seeing the rides constructed, i figure i no longer need a season pass. I'll just keep my Cedar fair and Busch Gardens season passes for this year. thought i was gonna need to add another one.

coolhandluke
^Try one page ago... Sure, Led Zeppelin doesn't seem too inspired in terms of design, but it wasn't made specifically as a "blow you away" coaster. It was made to be a fun, solid coaster (and it's B&M, so odds are it will be). What sets it apart is the way it fits into the park, most notably with the Led Zeppelin theming and, something people seem to overlook, the ON-BOARD MUSIC. Sure, it's not completely original, but it does provide a great sensation to the overall experience. I agree, this is a park enthusiast's park, not a coaster enthusiast's park, but Led Z. does have more thought in terms of overall experience than people seem to give it credit for. spaceace12
I'm confused. is Midnight Rider two coasters side by side, or one coaster with two lift hills? Exactly what I was wondering. A quick visit to HRP's website, it seems it is a dueling coaster.

jackskellington101
and now, a last minute name change: HARD ROCK PARK ANNOUNCES "Eagles - Life in the Fast Lane" Midnight Rider Coaster has been Renamed "Eagles band members, Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit, have gone back into the studio to re-record their famed smash hit, turning it into a one-of-kind version exclusively for the new ride. " Vekoma Rides Manufacturing, one of the largest roller coaster manufacturers in the world, is designing and engineering the ride together with its US alliance partner Chance-Morgan. " A two-minute-long journey - the longest coaster ride at the Park " Features a double lift with Lift heights of 39 feet and 46 feet, respectively " Each train holds 22-24 people (4 coaches per train, 6 people per coach) and features an on-board, high-fidelity digital audio system to further enhance the ride experience. " Total length of track is 2,234 feet " Maximum speed: 50 KPH with hairpin turns that pull 2 G-Forces Eagles - An American rock band formed in the early 1970's and composed of Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit. The band has won five GRAMMY® awards, most recently in February 2008 for "Best Country Performance by Duo or Group" for "How Long." The album Their Greatest Hits (1971-1975) has gone platinum 29 times, making it the highest selling album in the United States by a rock group. The Eagles broke up in 1980, but reunited in 1994. "Life in the Fast Lane," a song by the Eagles, was first featured on the chart-topping album Hotel California in 1976. I don't know how well it fits the land, but I can't argue the choice of song. DerekRx
I like the band, I like the song, but I don't think it fits the theme of that area of the park, nor do I think it works with a mine train. I would think of "Life in the Fast Lane" as being more like Rock'n'Roller Coaster, being a fast launched coaster with lots of twists and turns and inversions. Of course, I still want to see the world's longest B&M flying coaster with audio themed to "Freebird"

TheRapidsNerd
You know, that Eagles re-theme may be a decent fit after all. While the song is called "Life in the Fast Line", it really just has a slow, easy, chugging groove to it. That tempo seems to pace pretty well with the coaster. Naturally, the real proof is in the ride, not the onride video.

I dig the Eagles more in this case, but I see your point. Bottom line, was it a fun ride? It seemed so.
