Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread

p. 832: Camp Snoopy announced for 2024!

They were unfortunately assigning rows on Banshee, though I asked to wait for the front row. Banshee itself was awesome! Quite forceful, doesn't let up, and no rattle! Definitely somewhere in my top 5. 9/10

I'll post a full trip report later, but here's the rest of my day so far:

-The Bat: My first Arrow suspended coaster and I liked it. Nice drop, decent forces in the turns, and mostly smooth. 6.5/10

-Vortex: I thought I would hate this, but it was actually semi-decent. Some headbanging, but nothing unbearable. My favorite part was the double loop. 6/10

-The Beast: Slightly disappointed, but still an all-around great ride. Great tunnels with some nice laterals. Could be insane if it weren't for the trims. Will definitely reride it at night. 8/10

Going to ride Diamondback next.

Are you able to choose your seat on Banshee this year?

If you visit on a slower day like I did, there isn't even a ride host working that post. So I could just walk straight to the desired row like any other coaster.

As of 5 pm today, I was able to choose a row (chose the last row) for Banshee. I'm guessing it's because the line is shorter now than it was in the morning.

When you do, ride it in the front and prepare to say goodbye to that 8/10 ranking

Absolutely. Definitely wait for the front at night on this. I rode it at night on my first visit to Kings Island in 2002, but didn't ride the front at night until my first trip back to the park last week. Better overall experience in the front and it's worth the extra wait, if there is one.

I'll be visiting Kings Island for the first time in over ten years on Sunday 6/21. How necessary will Fast Lane be on a Sunday? We want to get all the credits and at least 3-5 laps each on Diamondback and Banshee, and probably a few on Beast.

So a BIG thing i heard in the breakroom today! Looks like a giga is coming to KI

Are you the new Dip-n-Dots guy?

@Prozach626 Seriously, you do know that no one here is going to believe that without some actual evidence right? That's the same as me saying, "OMG, I was at the McDonalds by Cedar Point, and I heard them saying that they were building a 500ft Aqua Trax. So that's obviously what they are getting next year."

When, exactly?

By all accounts, it seems like Cedar Point, Canada's Wonderland, and Valleyfair are all on the short list for a coaster.

I mean you can't take anything you "hear in the break room" as a fact. Both pre-Diamondback and pre-Banshee I had heard higher ups talking about a "Leviathan" style coaster.

That's what my comment was getting at.

In all seriousness though, I believe KI's next big coaster will be a giga, even if it can't go over the entrance like Fury 325 or Leviathan they still have A TON of room behind Firehawk and in the old SOB Helix/Loop part. They can either put a station in the X-Zone and renovate that area along with some restrooms and other stuff or they can use the old SOB station and possibly Re-theme Action Zone. I think a giga would give KI nearly everything the GP and Enthusiasts would want.

On an off-topic, we were planning our only visit to KI this year on Tuesday and Wednesday but it rains all week Then we considered Holiday World but that has rain all week also. How often does KI close rides when it rains?

Uhg. I don't even really like talking about the possibility of a giga, mostly because the park is already so awesome to me right now. I feel like having anticipation for something better will make me appreciate what the park has less.

That being said........ It would make this park damn near perfect. I don't know about using the old SOB queue. I think that would make the already crowded action zone even more crowded. At the very least I feel like they'd have to add a lot more concrete to that area for people to congregate, but everyone would bottle neck around the Banshee plaza. Part of the major appeal this park has for me is the large open feel as opposed to a park like SFGam that feels more congested.
