DougMJr
^^I believe Krake at Heide Park has retractable magnetic brakes on its brake run, that is the only one I can think of... And I'm not even positive on that.
coasterlover420
^It does. They are pretty much the design Intamin uses for it's brakes. The trim on Leviathan looks like the side-magnets though, same as all hypers with magnetic brakes. Â
kunpc1
Next time I head up to the park, I'll be sure to use the super-zoom lens on it to get a better shot. Here's the best I could do with one of the pictures I took from this update:
Schotcher
Doesn't look like magnetic trims, looks like normal B&M trims.
coasterlover420
^They're definitely magnets. You can see the slit the fin slides through and it is too high from the track to be normal brakes
DJeXeL
They're magnetic trims. There's a pneumatic actuator that can slide one of the reactor plates back and forth to adjust braking force. Image below shows the brake assembly plus pneumatic actuator directly below. The assembly shown in image is part of Intimidator's main brake and not a trim however B&M seems to have implemented this same design for a trim brake on Leviathan. Obviously fully loaded trains will get more braking force than an empty train. This type of trim brake makes no physical contact with the train thus reducing wear and providing a smoother ride for the riders. cwcoasterboy
We asked Peter Switzer about this during the Hauntmania even in October. He referred to the trims as being "articulating magnetic brakes" and will not make any noise like the trims on Behemoth.

DiSab
^You forgot the colon in the destination address. Â This just gets sexier and sexier. I think its finally time to apply for a passport.

Ace Of Spades
I need to find a convenient police box or DeLorean to hitch a ride with...like now...because this summer can't come quickly enough! Â Starting to look really awesome!
kunpc1
This just gets sexier and sexier. I think its finally time to apply for a passport.  Get NEXUS  https://goes-app.cbp.dhs.gov/main/goes  And I think a lot of people are going to be needing passports/NEXUS for 2012 to go all around the world! Just glad Leviathan is one of the many world-class coasters for next season.
odene497
It really puts things into perspective to see a regular hill out in the middle of the ride that's as tall as most B&M's first drops.
I305KD
I can only imagine the amount of airtime on it.
rollin_n_coastin
^^It's taller than the Québécois B&M .  ^^^Nexus, is the best thing ever! Much better at airports than land crossings but always a huge help. It's hard enough to convince people to get a passport let alone going through the Nexus application process though. Assuming the new border deal is implemented, it's supposed to be streamlined.
kunpc1
I'm so pleased with how quick construction is coming along. Looks like the hammerhead will be started by the weekend at this pace. I was told way back when the park was hoping to have most of the vertical construction completed by the end of December. Hopefully the weather holds out so it can be done by the end of January. Â Seeing all that track near the front gate is so impressive. I can only imagine the statement Leviathan will make once the layout is complete. It's going to be amazing watching B&M trains fly overhead by the front gate.
PCW_Nut
I have a feeling this thing is going to fly up until the hammerhead. Â Pictures do not do this coaster justice. Seeing it in person, in the front of the park, its just something that should be part of every coaster enthusiasts hit list.
deguy123
Its looking great! I'm hoping that once the holidays are over, I can send in my deposit for LeviaTHON and a spot will still be open!

DJeXeL
I'm thinking it's to assist maintenance in climbing up to the trim brake. They can use it to climb and attach their fall protection harnesses to it.
