firewalk13 Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 I suppose it would have to be Raging Wolf Bobs for me. A lot of early coaster memories on that one.
KBrylczyk Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 ^ Raging Wolf Bobs was a fun one. Nothing spectacular but an interesting layout.
rcdude Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 My top three most missed coasters are either still in operation (just not where they started) or still have a little hope of returning. They are...  Stealth (formerly at California's Great America, now Nighthawk at Carowinds) Deja Vu (formerly at Six Flags Magic Mountain, now Goliath at Six Flags New England) Speed-The Ride (formerly at Nascar Café, now sitting in the middle of a desert)  For non-coaster rides, I'm not sure which I truly miss the most, but these are definitely my most missed attractions:  PeopleMover at Disneyland Kingdom of the Dinosaurs at Knott's Berry Farm Perilous Plunge at Knott's Berry Farm Log Jammer at Six Flags Magic Mountain Freefall at Six Flags Magic Mountain
Robocoaster Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Big Dipper at Geauga, errr, SFWoA (by the time I got there). Thought the back row was near painful, but the front row was the exact opposite; it was awesome!
triggernel Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Definitely Jaws! So happy I got to ride it right before it closed. Rode it 7 times that day, and I'm hoping it won't be gone, by the time I get to Osaka. Â A few other notables: Â -Alien Encounter at TMK -Dueling Dragons at IOA -Back to the Future at USF
ajfelice Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 There is one coaster I'm sad about only being able to take two rides on it. That coaster would be Geauga Lake's The Villain. Yes, it was not perfectly smooth, but it was a few touch ups away from being an excellent wooden coaster. Great double out and back layout with great intensity, good pacing, and some good airtime. Overall, The Villain was a great combination of a traditional layout with some modern wood coaster elements for it's time period.
Nrthwnd Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Alien Encounter at the MK in WDW. Â That was supposed to be a theme park game changer (darker) for the Disney Company. But all the pre-warnings couldn't stop those families from pouring into it, and then having the poop scared out of the parents as well and the children. Complaints happened, and then it was closed up. Â At least Disney proved it could get darker with an attraction, way more than "Snow White's Scary Adventures." Â I wish I'd had the chance to try it out, at least once.
jynx242 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Viper at SFoG - miss that Shuttle Loop and could ride it again and again! Â For non-coaster: The Drunken Barrels and the Spindle Top at SFoG as well. When I was a wee tyke and not into rollercoasters - I could spend hours on those two spin-n-pukes that were right next to each other. Â David
coasterbill Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Viper: SFgadvReason: It was the coaster that made me a coaster enthusiast! If it wasn't for Viper, I would probaby be like... playing Gears of War right now. Â I know this post is about 7 years old at this point but I wanted to quote it because I think I just choked on my lunch a little bit. This is a joke right? Nobody could possibly miss Viper.
Midgetman82 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Alien Encounter at the MK in WDW. That was supposed to be a theme park game changer (darker) for the Disney Company. Complaints happened, and then it was closed up.  At least Disney proved it could get darker with an attraction, way more than "Snow White's Scary Adventures."  I wish I'd had the chance to try it out, at least once. I was one of those little kids who weren't prepared for it. My family wanted to try it and dragged me along with them. To this day, I still don't feel 100% comfortable with the aspect of teleportation... but in all honesty, I'd give anything to re-live it.  Guilty pleasure: Those Intamin 1st Gen Freefalls. Sure was a weird contraption! Only got to try it at SFOG and SFMM. Chaos that used to be at SFKK. When I wasn't tall enough to ride Chang (54") or T2 (52"), I'd marathon that ride a few times! (48", woo!)
cfc Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 I'll go along with Alien Encounter, too. This was my favorite attraction at the Magic Kingdom until they redid it with Stitch and made it, well, not so good.
booink Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Nightmare at Crackaxle Canyon @ The Great Escape, I've never been on it and I know it was just a simple Jet Star in a dark building, but I really wish I could have been on it.
DarienLaker Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Nightmare at Crackaxle Canyon @ The Great Escape, I've never been on it and I know it was just a simple Jet Star in a dark building, but I really wish I could have been on it. Â It was called "Nightmare at Phantom Cave" when it was at Darien Lake, I wanted to ride, but when I wanted to ride it, it was gone and the building the indoor Jet Star coaster was in was being used as a show house. I really wish that I rode it before it left Darien Lake!
MisterP Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 I'd bring back Injun Joe's Cave from Six Flags Over Mid America. I was obsessed with that ride as a kid. Â Others: Ozcat, Zambezi Zinger, Big Bad Wolf, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Horizons and World of Motion, Disaster Transport
arby Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Big Dipper at Geauga Lake. It was my first woodie.
goatdan Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Alien Encounter at the MK in WDW. I wish I'd had the chance to try it out, at least once.  I was obsessed with Alien Encounter for a while. I managed to be in the park when they were doing tests for it and I got to ride it during test and adjust when there were *zero* signs outside explaining what it was, and no one knew what to expect. Riding it like that, it was absolutely crazy. I remember people around me being absolutely terrified by what was going on.  The real problem I think with Alien Encounter was that it wasn't re-rideable (watchable?) Once you knew what was going to happen next, there wasn't a huge point in going on it multiple times. From what I understand, it was partially the complaints about it being too scary that made them take it away, and partially the fact lines had dwindled on it.  Other things I miss:  Original Journey Into Imagination - There is nothing like riding with your 3 year old through the world of Figment now and having to continually say, "Don't worry, he's not trying to be so scary, he's trying to be nice." At least the remake is slightly better than the first remake they did, yeesh.  Tram Ride @ MGM Studios - I don't even know it's exact name, but I LOVED the huge tram ride when Disney MGM Studios opened. To spend about 30 minutes on a tram, seeing different scenes and feeling like wow, stuff can actually be filmed here (even if the majority was low ranking B cable shows) was so great. The boneyard was awesome. Now, I find the whole park to be rather disappointing.  Kongfrontation - I get why they got rid of it, but I thought the way they themed this with you looking down into the roads was absolutely amazing. I wish they had kept it and built Mummy too - I think if the same option was on the table today, that's exactly what they would have done.  Back to the Future: The Ride - It was cheesy, but I am a huge BTTF fan and the ride was pure goofy fun, even if it was a ridiculously violent simulator.  For roller coasters:  Big Bad Wolf - I love all suspended rides, and this may have been the best.  King Cobra (KI) - Togo stand up rides are ridiculous with how they say, "Hey! You're standing up! Let's mess with you!" I'm most excited to ride SkyRider at CW this summer above everything else because of how silly fun I find these.
DarienLaker Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 'Cuda Falls I can now add to the list sadly since Darien Lake "retired" the ride and they're probably going to get the wrecking ball!
nannerdw Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 All the rides at Opryland (most of which I never even got to ride)
Cyrbuzz Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 I kinda miss Akbar's Adventure Tours at Biscuit Gardens Tampa. It was a little corny but fun at the same time. Martin Short was hillarious as Akbar.
Dschu Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Catapult, Timewarp, and Nightwing at sfne. All had somewhat unique ride experiences
Geauga Dog Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 There is one coaster I'm sad about only being able to take two rides on it. Â I miss Big Dipper and Double Loop but I miss Villain the most, especially since such a young seven year old ride was sent to the scrap heap in the sky. Night rides, especially when the temps were cool during Oktoberfest and the Haunt, provided excellent rides in pure darkness. Â Villain would have made a good addition for a mid-sized park.
DarienLaker Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 All the rides at Opryland (most of which I never even got to ride) Â I would do anything to get just one more ride on Chaos at Opryland!
boldikus Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Jumbo Jet @ Morey's. Â Â My first steel coaster, early 80s. I just barely remember it I was so young but I remember being obsessed with it after I rode it. I know there were others, do any of these still operate? And if so, where?
marth555 Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I wish I would have been able to ride big bad wolf before it was removed
