P. 2037: Siren’s Curse tilt coaster announced for 2025!

Recommended Posts

Am I the only one who had no problems with Gatekeeper's restraints? I rode it 6 or 7 times on media day and thought they were very comfortable.

I'm a skinny guy and that restraint kept clamping down more and more during the ride. It became uncomfortable towards the end for me.

Gatekeeper's restraints puts the squeeze on me, too, yet Wild Eagle's didn't. Go figure.

Same here. No problems w/ Wild Eagle (or X-Flight for that matter), but Gatekeeper was painfully over-tight by the end of the ride. It was also a lot bouncier than I thought it should have been in the back for a brand-new ride.

So I was at the park on 7/20 & 21, and I was wondering if any of y'all could explain to me the reason why Maverick runs with 6 trains instead of 4. From what I can see, having those extra two trains does nothing for the hourly capacity of the ride, but it unnecessarily inflates the length of time the riders are on the ride.

Any thoughts on this?

The restraints on Wild Eagle were comfortable until the break run for me. At that point, they became uncomfortably tight. Luckily, it is only a moment or two before pulling into the station and having the restraints released.

My thoughts exactly.

So how many people have that elusive Jr. Gemini credit? KidTums helped a few TPR members get it yesterday!

I have it but you don't need a kid to ride it. If you go to town hall over by Skyhawk (that museum where all of their Golden Tickets are) you can get a kiddie pass to get on kiddie rides without a kid. I rode it by doing this and honestly, the bunny hills on the diagonal part of the layout were very painful and I felt like the thing was going to collapse under my weight but a credit is a credit! The restraints are more forgiving than Woodstock's (I managed to cram all 230 pounds of my flab into it) but the issue is leg room. If you watch the video I'm about to post of me getting the credit with a kiddie pass, you can see that even in the front car where most of the leg room is my knee was still sticking out the entire ride. I didn't like how the train jerked to the side a bit when it latched onto the lift chain (I had a scare the first time and thought the structure had collapsed) and I was able to reach out and grab a handful of leaves on a nearby tree on the final turn into the station but it was fun and I get to say I did it. The retro feel of that part of the park is really partially completed by this coaster and even though I think they should get rid of the kiddie rides and move them to either Camp Snoopy or Kiddie Kingdom, but I think Junior Gemini should stay.

So...

HOW TO GET THE JUNIOR GEMINI CREDIT: THE JARRETT WAY

1. Go to Town Hall over by Skyhawk

2. Tell the person behind that glass desk that you are an enthusiast trying to get the Junior Gemini cred and ask for a kiddie pass. They should just fill it out and give it to you no questions asked.

3. Ride Junior Gemini

Voila! Now you don't have to ask parents if you can ride with their kids!

The park is slammed today; I wouldn't be surprised if it's one of their busier days yet (if not the busiest).

2 hour waits for Raptor, Millennium, and Maverick throughout the day. I'll check out Dragster when I return this evening; it was down until the late afternoon. Even less popular rides like Magnum, Corkscrew, and Blue Streak have waits of

45 minutes to an hour.

And after experiencing the effects of Fast Lane as a non-Fast Lane user on a busy day, it really stinks. The standy lines have grinded to a near halt.

I had a vest that didn't lock on Gatekeeper last Tuesday. Right side, row 4, outside seat. Not sure what train, though. Made for a much more enjoyable ride compared to media day. After about 5 times, I was starting to get some serious bruises on my collarbone due to how the vest tightened. My friend who rode GK for the first time had some serious complaints about how tight and uncomfortable the locking vest was on the break run, and he's on the smaller side.

Also I found a ticket redemption game I was good at in the arcade (averaging ~100 tickets a dollar) and walked home with these two Statix models for 1600 tickets. Not even $20 total for two of them. Not bad at all, considering they go for $20 each normally.

Red Millennium and Gray/Gunmetal Maverick. They had a few Dragsters too, but I didn't feel like pushing my luck more.

As a nice bonus, the mechanics were working on Top Thrill Dragster as we were leaving the park, so we all got a peek inside the hydraulic room!image_1404.thumb.jpg.9112081876bd27e501aacb14960d9069.jpg
Looks like they didn't fix it last night, glad it's back running now.

Ugh..check out the Raptor line..gotta love that FLP!
Thank you Fast Lane for letting me skip this long line at Raptor at Cedar Point!

I went 2 years ago so the year before fast lane for a birthday trip, i was visiting some friends in America and they surprised me by driving me there all the way from the town I can't spell but I think it was where Groundhog day was set. We would have had no choice but to line up since this was my only day to visit and raptor had a 2 hour line and mantis was 45 minutes, we went back later and I was quiet surprised to find the lines were empty and almost walk-on at the front of the park by the afternoon to evening, I figured it'd maybe be half that wait so a hour but it seems a lot of people just seemed to hit up the rides they see first instead of looking for quieter rides, although I wonder if with Gatekeeper there that has kept more crowds nearer the front all day?

So anyone hear or see anything regarding 2014?

Ps: I was at the park on Thursday and they were giving away mean streak buttons for free. Mean streak magnets were 25¢. Maybe demolition is in its near future in a few years?

In my mind, it would be ashame to take down the mean streak... just because it looks so cool. Sure it isn't the best, smoothest most amazing wooden coaster ever, but in my opinion its still fun. If you would like to complain about roughness, please be my guest and ride Darien Lake's predator in the back seat. Stomach twisting pain inducing fun!!! What I would rather see, is an RMC track revamp. like the track on the SDC's Outlaw Run. That would be great to see at the park. Lastly, the park is under with the loss of 2 coasters in 1 year. I think it would be best to add a few more before destroying another one dropping 16 to 15 then 14, maybe back up to 15 eventually... you know? I remember seeing on one of the parks facebook posts, a supposed Cedar Point ex-engineer called for 21 coasters by 2020 which could be a possibility, or it could be completely wrong... but one can hope Ride On, friends!

Id rather have quality coasters then quantity.

Exactly. Parks are better when they have all quality coasters. SFMM and CP are great because they have so many, but then parks like SDC and Dollywood have 5 or 6, that are a awesome.

I would say CP has a pretty good balance between quality and quantity. Raptor, Gatekeeper, Millie, Magnum, Maverick are quality coasters and that is 5 right there. Add Wicked Twister and TTD and that is a great coaster collection. Most have good capacity not like SFMM throwing up a quick low capacity coaster for some arbitrary title of most coasters.

Its tough though being CP and some of these other mega coaster parks. Something like Gatekeeper or Raptor would be the main attraction at some parks like Dollywood but at CP its just another coaster among many.

I'm jelly that you'll be going there. We'll have to make a plan to go together sometime soon. I do have family that live in NY/NJ so we can always crash at my family's place and then head over there. It's been 21 years probably since I was last there.
