I believe Mean Streak won't be torn down for at least the next 3 years. The reason is there is nor proof that Cedar Fair ever tore out a bad wood coaster that many wanted torn down for ages (Mean Streak, Son of Beast, Grizzly, etc). Grizzly @ CGA got new tracks on the drops making it a smooth coaster for a wooden. Son of Beast lay dormant for years and that hasn't been torn down.

^ It's not that Cedar Fair refuses to remove rides like Son of Beast, rather that it's more economical to just let it sit there dormant than to tear it down. If it weren't so expensive, I bet Son of Beast would have been long gone by now.

 

Mean Streak would probably also be very expensive. It would probably take many years for Cedar Point to get their ROI.

^ I'm excited too. Do you happened to know why they changed the Halloweekends website? I liked the one last year a lot better when it had music and the 'scrolling' left and right effect.

 

No not a clue. The only thing I could guess is that they changed it because the person running it changed.

Alright, just wondering. I'm pretty sure, however, I saw other Cedar Fair halloween events' websites this year are like last years Halloweekends website.

Hey guys! Does anybody know when the TPR crew is visiting Cedar Point as the final stop for their trip? Is it the next weekend?

Yup, of last month. The trip was back in August.

(9/14/11) While I have no confirmation of this, I’ve been given a warning that Mean Streak may close early for the 2011 season, with it’s last day possibly being this Sunday (Sept. 18th). No reason was given, though it is possible that they could be preparing to start a lengthy rehab and retracking project on it. Again, this is just a rumor… just something to keep in mind if visiting over the next few weeks. Anyone know more?

They did this last year too. Don't expect anything to happen to the ride, they'll probably just close it down early and have it open with the rest of the park.

I've never been to Halloweekends on a Friday before and am thinking about possibly going on a Friday this year. How crowded can it get then? I'm guessing it's less crowded than Saturdays.

The only stat I could find for a prefab woodie (doing a quick RCDB search) is 9-10 million for Balder. Sign me up for wanting that rather than the NTAG treatment for Mean Streak.

 

Those are wrong, Balder was around 15 million $ when it opened.

 

I believe Colossos at Heide was 21 million Euro.

Intamin Prefab are cheaper to build since they are going up rather quickly, but much more expensive to produce.

I'm going this Friday also, expecting the same: hope the lines are not the long people say they use to be, hehe. I don't know when the TPR crew is going, Friday-Sat-Sun, but I guess they'll have ERT, which means you'd better avoid that day for having much more time for coaster fun

Oh!!!! TKS for clarifying!!! My english is not that good (it's not my mother language). I saw a Trip update past 09-07 and thought they were still on the road to CP. Well, that means no ERT on the rides, plenty of time for scares and adrenaline Tks again!

^Seems like it'll be a little chilly on Friday (58), but Saturday (65) and Sunday (71) look like it'll be perfect park going weather! Of course, it'll cool down at night, but it'll be beautiful during the day.

This Friday the crowd will probably be very large because it is opening night. Other then that Friday's are the better option.

 

The weather for this weekend is really good for the screamsters! Cool but not freezing means we won't die of heat exhaustion.

I think I remember you from previous years, at least I'm pretty sure I remember that mask.

Last year was my second year and my first with that mask. There is also another costume just like mine in the zone. The rubber chicken is the signature though.

I will look for the mask on Friday night if we get into Fear Faire. We're leaving to go out tomorrow early so we can golf 18 at the Thunderbird Hills Golf Course in Huron before going to Halloweekends and staying the weekend in Camper Village. What a cool way to spend my 40th b-day!

 

We'll be avoiding the park on Saturday tho, because we know lines will be huge not only for opening weekend of Halloweekends, but for the God-Fest thing going on too. We're planning on taking the ferry to Put-In Bay on Saturday instead, which should be a lot of fun!

 

Fingers are crossed that tomorrow night will not be too busy...Friday nights are my fave time to visit during Halloweekends!!

^Love the North course there! Though Hole of the South course is one of my favorites in the area.

 

Friday should be awesome if you see me say hello, mention TPR or something. I get into a zone where I don't pay attention though so don't get offended if I don't seem to pay attention to you

Just curious on this one, are Friday nights packed now? I remember back in 2000 I went on a Friday night and the longest line was for MF at 10 minutes and it maybe picked up to 20 minutes on Saturday. It was awesome because that was my first chance to ride MF and i got in easily 20 laps that night.
