Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

P. 2038: Top Thrill 2 reopens on May 3rd!

I am asking this question here just because the issues Cedar point has been having gets talked about more then other parks. Just trying to figure out what kind of daily, weekly, Monthly  maintenance coaster should be getting if any to prevent breakdowns

I know each night they all get checked and repaired as needed, and over winter everything is pulled part and put back together. People keep blaming poor maintenance on the rides going down a lot. I have no clue what other things can be done to help with this.

MF seemed to run one car part of a day and 2 cars for a few weeks. TT2 has a lot of sensor issues and other rides have had longer issues. how much does heat humidity . play into this. Is new technology creating more headaches.

To access the mazes this year during Halloweekend will be an additional fee! $10-30 depending on the date you go.

Three thoughts:

  • Wonder if each person who buys this will get a wristband or lanyard-type identifier?
  • Wonder what this will do to maze lines/crowds?
  • Wonder if all Six Flag parks will implement this up-charge this year?

So long as the quality hasn't dipped, I'm fine with this.  I had a big problem with this model at SFGAdv because the mazes were so awful, but if it reduces the wait for the mazes, I'm good with it.  I'd normally buy a Fright Lane at legacy CF parks anyway, so this might accomplish a portion of that goal at a fraction of the price.

EDIT:  I did also notice that particular mazes also have sponsors (Midnight-M&Ms, Eerie Estate-Skittles).  If those mazes have advertising plastered all over them on the inside, it will truly be a sad day for the industry.

I also noticed that aside from the whole The Conjuring experience, there is literally nothing new.

Looks like Kings island will have the same pay for houses thing

All new-SF parks will, except for KBF and SFDL, per their press release: https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/six-flags-entertainment-to-unleash-biggest-halloween-season-in-history-with-debut-of-the-conjuring-beyond-fear-interactive-experience-302525869.html

I bet it's a wrist band. Otherwise, one person could buy a lanyard and then pass it to the rest of their party.

I did book a Sept 11-13th stay at Breakers Express which included Fright Lane on Thursday night. When I called the park today, I was told they would honor that package but not offer it going forward.

As someone who has been to Knotts, Sea World, and Universal for their Halloween events, the houses at CP always seemed VERY lackluster. Will they make the houses better this year for those who pay, or is it just another way to make a buck? We'll see.

Looking into the pricing for the Haunted Attractions Pass, it looks like the "Haunted Attractions Express Pass" is substantially less money than the Fright Lane passes used to be, so for someone like me (who always got Fright Lane), this actually works out in my favor haha.

Knowing that the haunts aren't worth my time, how are the lines on the other rides in the park during haunt?

Brutal.  As bad as summer if not worse.

Even though it’s disappointing to see something that was once including costing extra now, I much prefer this as an alternative to what some other parks do where they close the park at 5 or 6 and you can’t stay for the rides without an event ticket.

Out here in the West Coast, haunt attractions at theme parks have been either an upcharge or a separate admission ticket all along.  I don't know how you all got away with inclusive haunt attractions for free all this time.  That's mind blowing to me, you all have been riding the gravy train all this time.

And yes, it has been a wristband.  They usually will have it change colors nightly, so it can't be reused.

I tell people it is typically the busiest time of the year. Columbus Day weekend and like the last weekend of the year draw massive crowds. Like parking lot is full people just parking in the grass. everything is 3 hours longs.

Not sure how busy Columbus day is now as a lot of places stop giving people that day off work.

But if you can do a Thursday night and  Friday trip you can get a pretty less busy park. Friday night Saturday and some Sunday just a disaster. But the vibe over all  great.

I just got this e-mail from the Express Hotel, which I have booked for my Halloweekends Trip.  It looks like if your room package included Fright Lane for Thursdays, which they all should have booked during the time, they are converting it to a Haunted Attraction Express Pass.

Hello,

We're excited about your upcoming visit to Cedar Point's Express Hotel. In preparation for your visit, we’d like to share a few updates.

HalloWeekends presented by SNICKERS® brings back our midway scare zones and live shows, included with park admission. In 2025, our terrifying haunted mazes will only be accessible to guests through the purchase of a Haunted Attractions Pass.

•What does that mean for you? Due to the event changes, Fright Lane is no longer offered at Cedar Point. Instead, we’re delighted to upgrade your Fright Lane to a Haunted Attractions Express Pass!

•What is the Haunted Attractions Express Pass? The Haunted Attractions Express Pass unlocks access to five terrifying haunted mazes during HalloWeekends presented by SNICKERS®, including a single entry to The Conjuring: Beyond Fear, an all-new, SCREAMium experience where you’ll navigate iconic scenes from The Conjuring Universe to lock away cursed artifacts before supernatural chaos is unleashed. This new immersive experience is unlike anything we’ve ever offered before!

•What’s included in your upcoming stay? Your overnight accommodation and admission to the park remain the same, but instead of Fright Lane, you will now receive a Haunted Attractions Express Pass, valid for Thursday night only. Guests wishing to access haunted mazes on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday evenings will need to purchase a Haunted Maze Pass or gain expedited maze access with the purchase of a Haunted Attractions Express Pass, which includes a single admission to The Conjuring: Beyond Fear.

We appreciate the opportunity to serve you and hope you will call on us if we can do anything to make your stay most comfortable. Have FUN and enjoy!
